  1. Depends what its for. I've driven both and think they are both great but very different cars. If it was me it would depend on the application: Daily Driver mainly - the Evo 6.5 TME Weekend Fun car mainly - R33 GTR.
  2. Well funky if you are making the gozdilla suit then Im more than happy to take the ass decal duties off your hands this year!
  3. So do I mate or else I will be out of next weekend as well. Let me know when you get yours back on the road - maybe we can go for a safety test run together before the Skidpan. cheers.
  4. This is the car thats at Ice yeah? If so it looks even sweeter in the flesh.
  5. Unfortunately Im going to have to pull out of this. I went for a bit of a test drive last night to check a few things out and burst an oil hose. Wasn't a great experience and right now I can only hope I haven't done any major damage. But regardless a few things will have to be checked which won't be done in time. Very disappointing.
  6. Funky - the discussions were good actually. Yes there were going to be costs to be come affiliated with NDSOC but only for the individual. If we did become affiliated we would get given access to a page on the monthly NDSOC magazine and a few other little benifits. Basically I think the idea was we could then offer people a 2 level membership option - just social at cost $x or a CAMS one (so basically NDSOC membership + SAUVIC social membership) at possibly a reduced cost to what getting both individually would be. These were some idea's proposed to me by one of the committee members of NDSOC to be followed up after discussion with our committee to see if we were keen for that idea. Nothing was fully proposed because I didnt want to come back and get :flamed: for arranging things without anyones approval. I guess the most important thing though was the idea of an affiliation wasn't mine - they came and suggested it to me. Turnout for the one event I went to was exeptional. I believe they currently have about 300 members but there were at least 60 at the pub. They had over 100 at their xmas party. There were 6 people I met from here at the pub (skylinegeoff and blind_elk being the only real active members) as well as Scotty from Driver Dynamic/Skidpan day who is a NDSOC committee member as well. All the people I met - including all the committee guys I spoke to - were great and friendly people and Im sure if its what we wanted to do between both parties some mutual agreement could be made.
  7. I agree Geoff. NDSOC is a very well orgainsied car club, and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to get into the CAMS side of things (although they do a lot more than just CAMS stuff). Through them you can do things such as volunteer for a shift in the show and shine section of the GP.... then get free passes for the rest of the 4 days. SAUVIC I am really looking forwards to getting running but it will be a social club at least to start with. For those that don't know NDSOC initially began as a social club called the Zed Club and developed in time. What SAUVIC will be looking for is a commitment from people so that it too can develop.
  8. Ok - I was at the NDSOC as one of the new guys at the meeting with the R34. *waves to RowdyR32* The Skyline club *SAUVIC* as I understand it are meant to be a social club including events like MAS and cruises etc, where as the major benifit with NDSOC is the CAMS affiliation. During my meeting last week at NDSOC however, I spoke to some of the committee memebers there and spoke about the formation of our social club. Those of you who are already NDSOC members will know of the affiliated club the Princes Skylines who act as a seperate social club but are affiliated with NDSOC. They have suggested the we possibly do the same thing. I have mentioned this to James and Im sure it is something that the SAUVIC committee will discuss when we get together - but there are possibilites for those wanting CAMS that may be able to be worked out involving both clubs. There are also other options involving the new AASA that have aligned themselves with Calder and now Winton which means we may be able to do some track type events without CAMS memberships. (I have heard of a $10 AASA day licence mentioned but it needs to be investigated further.)
  9. Check with Vicroads - they are actually pretty cool about this kinda stuff. When I got my car it was first registered in QLD in 2000 but the compliance plate was dated 2002. So something dodgy went on somewhere. Somehow the car was originally registered under the japanese compliance number. It had never been registered before me with the correct compliance. But Vicroads did all the chasing up through QLD Transport and found the compliancer and everything was sweet. They were really helpfull.
  10. Great work mark - very nice curve. Can't wait until I can get myself some of these turbo's. Just as a side point, how have you found the C's shifter? I was just about to order one of these in the next few weeks (if negun answer their emails!) but I haven't known anyone who has used them over the nismo one on a R34.
  11. Tuesday suits me - thats if Sami's dad gonna let me in the house after leading him astray the other week!
  12. It wasn't mean to be childish - I appologise. I was just trying to give a comparison to cars considered in league with the Oz delivered R32's that haven't been influenced by grey imports out of Japan. I hope you can see that now. Utter crap was a bad choice of words and written without thinking. I will just say that this is my opinion on the matter. I have an R34 and will be affected by depreciation more than most but I knew that when I bought the car and dont expect it to change due to my experience with the NSX. This is regardless of what happens with DOTARS or RAWS. Some say the with the R34 GTR VSpec on its own RAWS maybe no more will be brought in and the value will hold. I personally don't think so.
  13. Blaming grey imports for the devaluation of cars is Im afraid utter crap. There have been some people on here saying that an Oz delivered R32 GTR has devalued from 100,000 to 40,000 because of grey imports. Lets compare that to another Japanese super-car the NSX. My last car was a 1997 NSX valued new at $242,000 and was sold last year for $90,000. There are no grey imports on NSX's so why the massive devaluation? Its not like there's stacks of them around or that those that are are in crap condition. Mine certainly wasn't. The prices of these cars will devalue regardless of grey imports. So don't go thinking that if suddenly the +15yo rule is scrapped your car will suddenly hold or increase in value.
  14. ROFL @ William Hung. He's a superstar no doubt. James you are a lazy assed bastard. Firstly we drink at BO'Rs so you can walk there and now you want to meet at your place so you don't even have to walk? And don't go playing the central tune with me either. Im pretty sure central would be say...... Patterson Lakes.
  15. Greg its great in theory but its just not worth it - seriously. You go in to Japanese restaurant and order the miso soup and some noodles - someone else orders the prawns and delux seafood special with a few scotches to wash it down - the next thing you know there is a $500 bill for 10 people and someone says ok everyone put in $50. The miso soup dude isnt a happy camper about now. 10 people may be able to work it out but what if theres 30 odd. It becomes very hard to work out who owes $17 and who owes $22.50 so bills get evenly split. Dinner sounds great but play it safe so that there is no risk of people getting pissed off with each other.
  16. Meeting next week sounds good James.
  17. Shhhhh!!!! Don't mention the "B" word. Last time that was mentioned only 4 of us turned up! :flamed:
  18. If you are going to do this I suggest somewhere like a pub with a counter meal where everyone goes up and pays when they order. Nothing worse than organising things like this then trying to get the $$$ at the end to pay for the meal. That sh|t always happens so its best to be avoided. And pub meals are cheap and easy.
  19. There are a number of oportunities coming up to get more footage if we want to make a dvd. We have the GOR cruise coming up. Another skidpan weekend coming up I have track days this weekend and mid march Al was looking at a DECA day/weekend before the end of March There will be skylines at the Drift Nationals Im SURE we can arrange a day/night at Heathcote/Calder Other day or night cruises can be arranged with short notice. If someone has the facilities to take footage then Im sure we can make a pretty kick ass mixed dvd without too many problems. James mentioned the idea of a racing theme - theme's are good in my opinion. As a slight variance to a racing theme could be a general motorsport theme including circuit, drag and drift. Show the versitility of the skyline as the ultimate motor sports car.
  20. What about speaking to the guys at NDSOC and seeing if we can't borrow one of the Gibson R32's. They've had them at a few of their events. Then we can have the slogan "Discriminated for Being Too Good!"
  21. Me and Ash are right now finalising this (with the approval of ECR33). Including pre-meet area's and a final meet-up in Geelong for those of you poor bastards that live down there (I can say this as I went to Uni at Deakin so lived there for 3 years! ) My suggestions for the final meetup would be either the Waurn Ponds pub or the Uni front carpark - cause there is no chance of splitting up due to lights etc through Geelong from these places. And its a better way to the GOR from there than through Torquay which can be a pain in the ass. Final and complete details will be posted in a new thread within the next few days.
  22. No - they are my track wheels. Don't want to run semi-comps on the street if I can help it as the life span just isnt worth it. It's cheaper to get a second set of wheels long term than replacing the semi-comps every 6,000km's or so. The the stock R34 rims are great track wheels as well - very light.
  23. This can be arranged mate. I just put some Yokohama R Spec A048's on them on Sat (265's as well) so they are looking even tougher than usual! They gonna fit on your car though? And SAU-Vic? Isn't that just a fairytale people tell their kiddies - a lot like the Kights of the Round Table? The one with King James and the quest for the Holy Turbo?
  24. Don't think trying to suck up now is getting you out of that rubber suit.
  25. Its alright guys - as the SAU offical mascot we are going to make DJ_L3Thal spend all 3 days walking around in a Godillza suit. Im sure by the end of it he will think back on volunteering as the mascot as a slightly rash decision.
