    Rays Wheels

Where's the best place to order Rays wheels? I know the site http://www.rayswheels.co.jp but my japanese is non existant and I dont know whether you order the wheels directly from there or if there is a better place to get them? The only place I know of in Melb that sells them is Hypertech but they have rediculous mark ups on their goods.
  2. Don't worry - Im taking it damn slow. Images like this are firmly imprinted in my head! http://www.directimported.com.au/down/570000.htm Also - I actually think going to the Island first up is better. I think if I went to something small and technical like Winton first up I might be over confident the first time I tackle the Island. However - with this being my first time I think Im going to be so tentative that my biggest risk will be getting hit from behind due to me going too slow! Especially through turns 1 & 2. They are going to be interesting!

    Rip Ns2500?

Greg man Im sorry to hear it. Glad your ok and hope it all goes smoothly for you and we see you back on the road soon.
  5. As far as I know everything is sweet. Was in contact with the events secretary before the registrations were available and had my application in the first available week. So..... skylinegeoff - it will be good to see you out there man. Sounds like you have a great plan ahead of you! I just had the new clutch, power fc and oil cooler installed yesterday and the new pads from racebrakes go in next week. Ash.... I won't even bother. :zap:
  6. Ash - I dont suppose you suggested that meeting?
  7. Hence the name Mr Fanny!
  8. As a few of you on here know, one of the main reasons I got my skyline was to participate in some track events. And the first of those is coming up on Feb 15 at Phillip Island as part of the MSCA (Marque Sports Car Association) sprint events. This will be my first ever time on a track (in any car) and consequently Im damn excited by it. So if there are any people interested in coming down to check out the event feel free to do so. To give you a quick run down - the MSCA is comprised of an alliance between the following clubs: Alfa Romeo Owners' Club of Australia Austin Healey Owners Club Austin Healey Sprite Drivers' Club Bolwell Car Club of Australia Club Lotus Australia Fiat Car Club Nissan Datsun Sports Owners Club Sports Owners Club of Victoria Triumph Sports Owners Association All manner of cars enter the event (there are 14 seperate classes in the competition) so there is a lot of interesting varity to look at. The sprint series themselves is basically 2 lots of 4 laps with the combined total of your best 2 lap times given as your result. (I think there are max 4 cars on track at any time). there are 11 events held this year at various tracks around Victoria - including the hillclimb at Morewell, and a 2 day event at Winton that includes one day of driver training. (in the yearly comp you drop your worst 2 results) For those out there that might find this kind of thing of interest in the future this is what I have had to do in order to participate. 1. Memeber of a CAMS affiliated Club (In this case also MSCA affiliated - for me its NDSOC - cost $50pa) 2. CAMS L2S Licence (Requirement is that you are a member of a CAMS affiliated Club - cost $91pa) 3. Flagging Marshal permit (applied through CAMS - no cost) 4. Steel Valve Caps - $9 5. Approved Helmet - mine cost $120 6. Fire Extinguisher - $40 Total Cost $310. (Brakes and tyres must also be considered but with only 2 lots of 4 laps it wont be as taxing as full track day events so should last a number of days). If all this goes according to plan then stay tuned for Snowmans attack on the Dutton Rally. (Btw - I have no intention of trying to win any of these events - Im doing it totally to have some fun and to be allowed to drive faster than I can on the roads and improve my driving skills!) :headspin:
  9. We started there, then went to Greville St Hotel, then went to Prince of Wales, then went to Spy Lounge. We were doing our best to spread the word of SAU all around town!
  10. Ok - my tyre investigations went as follows: Dunlop from Stuckey's 265/40R17 FM-R D01J S COMPOUND $536 255/40R17 DZ02G M1 COMPOUND $521 265/35R18 DZ02G H1 COMPOUND $612 Yokohama from Traction Tyre Center A032Rs were exactly the same price as Melri quoted for FORUM members although he did say he could do a slightly better price (I didnt push the question as the A032R's don't come in 18's) The most interesting one was this: A048s - 265/40ZR18 - $530. Apparently has performed very well in a back to back trial recently in Japan (Up against the new Dunlop DZ02G) and is apparently also going to be the tyre Jim Richards uses in this years coming Targa Tas. I think I will give them a shot at Phillip Island in a few weeks.

  12. try the private ads - not the dealer ads.
  13. My new clutch is coming from extreme in adelaide. It looks the goods - just has to be fitted.
  14. I had a 100% stock R34 GT-R V Spec put on a dyno at AVO in chelt and it produced 221rwkw. Mine is being dyno'd this week at racepace and I'll post the results here. My mods will be basically the same as jezzrrr plus I'll have a power fc + cam gears. (I even have a Blitz exhaust and a Trust FMIC!) I'd also like to know what boost you were running on the stock turbos.
  15. AnthonyK1 - theres a midnight purple R34 N1 for sale on www.carsales.com.au. Powerplay in Syd recently had a NUR for sale - nice @$170K. For the $80K you could save on a 99 V Spec you'd have to have too much money to get it.
  16. The Oak - aftermarket ecu's are a no no (stupid but we knew that already).
  17. Ok - Ive been out and about today attempting to get some prices on some R Spec tyres and this is what Ive found out. It seems the sales of R Spec tyres is being controlled and for each of the major brands they have only ONE distributor per state. So shopping for prices is non available. For peoples information in Vic the places are: Dunlop - Stukey Tyre Services - 828 Sydney Rd. Brunswick 3056 - PH: 9386-5331 Bridgestone - TRACKSIDE 161 Canterbury rd, Kilsyth, VIC 3137. PH: 0409 021 885 Yokohama - Traction Tyre Center - 65 Kellets Rd - Roweville - PH. 9764 2811 (Also enjoy trying to find R Spec tyres in 18's! No D01J's, No RE540's, No A032R's!) Will update when I get a quote from Stukeys on the new Dunlop DZ02G's.
  18. I'll give you $100 not to show those photo's in public! :Paranoid:
  19. I think after Sundays SAU Vics New Years drinks turn out that the official SAU mascot be a 15 week old banana. Because a bigger a bunch of soft mummies boys I have never met! All you whinging bastards that have asked for SAU social functions - where were you hey!!? The only thing that can give SAU any creditablility right now is that James, Sam and I drank enough for 30 people. (it's damn right emabarrisng that there was nearly as many prelude owners as skyline owners at this drinking session!) No one can complain about the time of the event - we were there for 12 hours. No one can complain about the company - there were more chicks than blokes that turned up. No one can complain about notice for the event - it was posted weeks ago with a reminder post last week. You're all soft. :usuck: And Im still feeling slightly hungover.

  24. Swoop - Im with Shannons. The definitely can do it. Did you ring or get a quote on-line? PM me if you want to know my preimiums or anything.
  25. I bought mine because I wanted something that would be a good "hobby". Something I could keep improving, keep me intereted and excited. And something I could take to the track. And I can't think of anything better than a Skyline for that.
