  1. Slight error - Vic is 6th to 8th August 2004! I'm in talks currently to be possibly SAU's only Vic representative! I've been in contact with Sam Beck from VicDutton and I'll get my car onto the track (Phillip Island) for the first time Feb 15. If everything goes well then I'm very keen to give it a shot. And if so I might have to come up to Syd and have a chat to you all during NSWDutton for some extra tips. Cheers.
  2. I was in Cairns last week! Watch out for the stingers! And yes its the monkey. To celebrate tonight Im having Japanese! go figure!
  3. Obviously you haven't met him! :flamed: Just joshin Alan! Personally I reckon tertiary degree's are overated. I only say this cause I have one and know it means shit all! Id rather have a GTR and a good throwing arm over a degree any day!
  4. yeah mate but you can throw a ball better than most of them!
  5. I took a B4 for a spin once and it was nice - only issue is the damn blue/black leather interior is a bit pox. Plus the sequential turbo's aint quite right. The new Liberty GT (single turbo) is meant to be heaps better all round - I think its an awesome car - but currently for $45K ya dreamin. (Closer to 60) The B4 I took for a spin was 42 on road.
  6. Cops will only leave you alone if you get a mini cause they are scared of the diseases associated with gay men :flamed: Im actually suprised you dont prefer the beetle cause they have that little vase in the dash!

    Hard Kandy!!

Bugger Kandy and the Cage - go to the Mansion! (Now Im showing my age!) Actually if you are getting into Kandy/Bubble etc try the Frantic events (held at rOOm680 every now and then on a Friday. Used to be held at different locations - Palace, Dome, Capsule) Best Hard House nights out in Melb by far (or used to be when I was clubbing) Free super-doopers rock. http://www.frantic.com.au/fl_index.html
  9. Yeah i know Dales! Good little married boy these days.
  10. it was yellow (97) we may have a mutual friend!
  11. Definitely. When I had the NSX I used to go anywhere with that and could take whatever for a spin. No such thing as nothing to do on a Saturday back then! Infact the dealer that sold me my NSX used to ring me up when ever he got something new and cool in so I could take it for a spin. There should be more guys like him around sharing the fun! So if you can borrow a good car off someone thats always the first step. But to make them aware of it I usually had to say that I was considering trading it in and would they give you a trade in vaue. Because you cant always park dramatically out the front right in sight of an unoccupied sales assistant so you may have to point it out to them... then attitudes change quickly.
  12. FYI James mine are 65 - but they are 265/45/18 not 35's. No idea of what the requirement is. Sounds like you got someone that had just finished reading the complete rule book on legal requirements and wanted to impress someone with his knowledge!
  13. My other reason for thinking of staying the night was that IF there is a large number of people that can't make it down on the Saturday but really want to do a GOR cruise, then a second crew can head on down Sunday morning and meet up with the over nighters. This will increase the number of happy campers in our newly developed Club that aims to please! And camping sounds great. All we need is a skyline wagon to bring the beer!
  14. I find this topic interesting also. Ive really only recently got into the "scene" in a more involved way. My initial impressions where that things where highly centered around the DRAG scene - which to be honest came as a bit of suprise to me. It was a little while before the major reason I discovered this to be the case was ACCESSABILITY. For me personally Im setting up and looking forwards to getting into Circuit racing. There are a lot of small sprint events that aren't overly taxing on your veichles and not expensive to get into. Ultimately events like the Dutton Rally which only require the L2S CAMS licence and for me will as much be about social fun than anything (and being allowed to drive fast) are highly appealing. But the biggest killer is the insurance problems. Drift is something I think a LOT of people here are interested in. But again it comes down to accessability. Im sure many of us have even tried thinking of possible business oportunities in this area because we all know that if something decent was set up there'd be a lot of interest. From a few discussions I have had there has been talk from a few influential cash stocked people about getting some things set up but apparently there is plenty of red tape involved with CAMS and the public liability problems. The new motorsport agency (AASA) may be a shining light however and I think a good response to the drift event soon at Caulder Park may open some new avenues. One can only hope.

  16. My Mrs is going to be away..... so Im going racing at Phillip Island! What about that for an option? Nothing more romantic than hitting 250km/hr!
  17. Ice Performance 7 Dissik St Cheltenham Vic 3192 9512 7591 Nigel or Gerald They will be tuning my new power fc later this week! But if you are in the northern suburbs then BMT are probably an easier and still good option. http://www.bmtmotorsports.com.au/BMTMain.html
  18. Actually I dont believe its the pubs fault - they use bouncers from a sub-contacted security firm. So it is the security firm that should be sued if anyone. But it is a very sad day indeed. Hooksy was a great bloke and his opinionated manners were one of the reasons Austalian cricket is so healthy right now as he was never afraid to say publicly anything if he thought long term it would be good for the game. to a great aussie bloke.
  19. Again I agree for something as long as a GOR cruise a Sat would be ideal. Through out the year we will endeavor to vary the days of the cruises b/w Sat and Sun and even some mid week night meet-ups to give everyone a chance to come along to events as we'll never be able to please everyone. Feb 28th sounds good to me as well (I know there is another club cruise to GOR on the 22nd). Another thing I will put feelers out for just out of interest is if there is any people out there that would be interested in spending the Sat night somewhere down the coast (after a few beers ) and then finishing the cruise the next day? If so I will do some investigating on prices and availability.
  20. My 2 cents is this: My first cent is this - Ive said before that Im glad I didnt get my first powerful car til I was 25. I could have but chose a shitty fwd POS and learnt to have a bit of fun in something that wasnt going to make a huge mess into a bus stop (or worse) if I made a mistake. WHICH WE ALL HAVE DONE when we first are learning to drive. My second cent is that it costs you $50 or so to join a CAMS affiliated club. $91 to get a L2S licence. Then you can go drive fast on a damn race track. Safely. And learn a hell of a lot about driving fast IN YOUR CAR and probably wont ever try and take a right angle turn redlined in 2nd gear.
  21. But I admit that I didnt fully investigate all the options on this as it wasnt my problem. There may be some way to do it - I dont know. But thats how the guy that bought my car did it.
  22. No - each state needs its own roadworthy from what I can gather. So a Vic roadworthy needs to be done by a vic certified agent.
  23. Well this may or may not be helpful information. But my last car was SOLD interstate to a guy from Adelaide. Now what we did was a risk to him if he decided to drive stupidly. I cancelled my registration on my car but didnt hand in the plates (basically if you cancel your registration you get a refund on your remaining rego. But you only get the refund when you hand your plates back. However if you dont hand your plates back for a month or more from when you cancel your rego you still get the full allotted refund) So I cancelled my rego - let him drive back to Adelaide with my cancelled plates on so he could do everything he needed without trucks etc - then he sent me the plates back in the mail. It all worked fine for everyone... but it only happened cause I was a nice bloke who did the guy a favour, and because the guy driving with cancelled plates didnt drive in a manner to draw attention to himself. Thats the easiest way if both parties are good.
  24. Hey guys - yes Im back from holidays and am ready to get into organising some cruises etc. Obviously GOR is always a well attended event especially if we can give everyone a bit of notice! So if everyone wants to hang on just for a small while Ash and I will be catching up this Sunday at the SAU beer drinking festival on Chapel St to discuss exactly issues such as this. Cause you can be SURE there will be an offical SAU GOR cruise before the summer is over. Cheers
  25. What have you all been drinking? STOP IT! Na just kidding - Ive always liked the rexes - espec the MY99's. Nice one. I'd love to get rid of my ute and get a rex wagon.
