  1. Yep - they have a winch. They also can jack up the rear set of wheels so you can tow empty on just 2 wheels and the total weight of the trailer is under 400kgs so you can move the things around empty with one hand! It's eventually going to go under the name PMC (Precious Metal Carriers) - but for now give the guy a call on 0418 373 938 (Matt Close) and let him know I pointed you in his direction and he will look after you. Matt is obviously a Targa competitor so any of you guys coming over can chat to him directly there if you are interested.
  2. Taking it to Tassie. There's 3 of us I know of that are using them in Tassie (the guy has 6 available to rent out at any one time)
  3. There is a guy in Melbourne that has just imported a bunch of trailers from Germany specifically to suit race cars (although they don't have a wheel rack) that are available to rent at rates cheaper than your normal crappy petrol station ones. Twin axle tilting style that go down to 3degs angle (if you use the extensions) and are super light. I'm using one for Targa this year and won't bother trying to buy one now since the rental rates are that bloody good. There's a vid he's done to show how easy they are to use. I'll put some pics up of my car as well once its on with the proper wheel straps and everything. Its a very cool set-up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqcOLrpwwsA
  4. I will bring some but things will have to look pretty dire for me to make the call to change them. Plus I don't know anyone down there that can ensure its still pointing straight afterwards.
  5. Thats good to hear. Long term outlook looks like a wet one! It's a good thing I've gone to harder springs and more camber.... http://www.weatherzone.com.au/long-range-forecast/28-day-rain/tas/central
  6. This doesn't sound good! http://www.weatherzone.com.au/news/tasmania-goes-tropical-/16928 Wonder if this is going to cause more issues?
  7. LOL - yeah that thing would give outright a crack I reckon! But there is NO point in building something like that for EM because as soon as someone with actual driving talent does it and smokes everyone the rules will change again and it will get (rightfully) banned. And then you have just wasted a whole stack of cash.
  8. In theory yes. However they have banned "specials" in the Modern competition and the Z Tune is a 2005 model technically - so wouldn't be allowed. You're only allowed to build super special cheater spec cars in Early Modern..... because for some reason thats ok.
  9. From my understanding of the rules you just need the car to meet the specs of the car you say you are running. (I mean my car isn't an N1 but it runs under N1 specs. N1's were built in 2001 - my car was built in 99 but consequently runs as a 2001 car not a 99 car) So for the 996 GT3 it had a different rear wing in 2002 than 2004 but was otherwise essentially the same. So its the wing that needs to change for it to run in 2002 spec. For the EMO is a fair bit different between a series 7 and 9 other than just the bonnet and front bar!
  10. Gotta love a good rumor in this game. Heard today that TW has made the jump already to EM in the EMO 7. Will add to the fun if it's true! Shame we can't get Mike Pritchard to change his rear wing and join along too.
  11. First rumors have Lowndes doing a 1.47 in the F1 car too. (and Lowdnes doing a 2.11 in the V8 compared to a 2.17 from Button).
  12. I'm pretty sure Stu already squashed the rumor.
  13. LOL - how long before that one gets broken? You were probably safer sticking with the GC8!
  14. Nice on Timmy. JA sent me some footage during the week of his last TT with Greg in his Dak Dak and the most noticable thing from the footage is just how awesomely usable those cars are for this stuff. It has to be a good thing. I'm still suprised no-one has gone back and tried one of the new updated TT's as I still reckon they'd be a winner in the right hands. (Because surely by now someone has figured out the electronics!)
  15. Honestly - I think if I ever get the classics bug I will give up speed (which would be the E30 option) and go muscle car for shits and giggles. I have an unnatural love for the Cuda (my cats name is even Cuda!) and I've always said that one day I will own one. But it's probably more likely to be a cruiser/show car than a race car. Still - some of the nicest classic rally cars really are show cars as well. Steve Coad's Monaro and Eric Bana's XB are good examples and neither are exactly slow. But they both cost a BOMB to get like they are!!
  16. The bigger concern for me is that Classics take far too much talent to drive well - and talent is something I'm a little short on. So I need all the electronic help I can get! (But I would love to man up and build an E30 M3 - or a 7.2L V8 Plymouth Barracuda!)
  17. LOL - ever driven one of those 135's in anger? Not sure they are the solution! I was a fair whack quicker around the Ring in a base model VW Scirocco than the 135i simply because the bimmer was too damn scary to punt hard! I know Newton struggles to keep his new one pointing in the right direction down the road too. And he was of the same opinion as you - until he bought one. I think Greggies Focus RS is the better option until a decent Turbo RWD becomes available. But Showroom needs more than 3 entries to feel credible.
  18. See this is my thinking. Along with climate control. And a radio.
  19. Does he have an idea of vehicle or is he looking at options? I'm pretty keen to move to modern next year too. This early modern field is getting too competitive and if YT moves to classics then modern opens right up!
  20. Recce notes suggest only 100m of Gravel (500m speed zone)
  21. Yeah we have obviously just got word that a bunch of stages have been shortened (or have speed controlled sections) - including Gunns being dropped to 4.9kms. Shame as I really like that stage. I remember passing 4 cars on it last year! LOL
  22. Not for the Tour you don't. I did the Mt Buller Tour and it was a great fun few days. Kidney sure took a beating though!
  23. So basically the same price as the A050's then.
  24. Captain was telling me once that his 996TT was originally set to JR spec and then Rex got hold of it and turned it to butter spec. (which Matt decided was 11ty x's better) But yeah - it was him who told me Jim LOVES rock hard set-ups for his Targa cars.
  25. Yeah but I remember Captain Close telling me Jim loves his Tarmac Cars to be rock hard in set-up for some reason. PS - what gearbox is YT / KW running now? Still seemed pretty fancy from the TWP footage (sure ain't a 6M thats for sure).
