  1. Too tired and busy right now but discovered on Sunday after stage 1 that the "sudden loss of grip" we encountered just before lunch on Day 1 was a busted front sway bar link. We just thought it was the road going off in the heat. And unfortunately the only "timed" stage we had for the rest of Day 1 was Mt Buller and I went to bed confused over my crappy time up the hill with us not actually knowing there was a reason for it. Spewin too because it was a rocket before then. (Not so much after then as every time I tried to push it the car tried to kill me! LOL) Sorry to hear about Kel - I had no idea until just now. I was wondering where she was Sunday night (Sunday night was MESSY - Timmy and my nav Matt got a great dose of Brisby power! And Newtons special trophy was a great hit with the ladies!)
  2. I won't talk about set-up changes or anything but the one thing I will say is the A050's are an incredibly good wet tyre. BUT - you have to have the courage to get some heat into them in order for them to work properly in the wet. But if you do you will be amazed at just how much grip they have in the wet.
  3. So 3 more days of snow now for Mt Buller! And the weather forecast for next weekend ain't all that special either. Sure looks like an interesting weekend ahead of us.
  4. I'll be there - #806. Was a little shocked driving home last night to hear an advert on the radio (Triple M) for the event!
  5. So I see YT is racing his 5th different Lambo now! LOL It's now an LP570-4. Nice
  6. There is 98 in Wang on Sat lunch as well (Shell) - but as mentioned no luck for Sunday at all.
  7. I have one in carbon
  8. So Stu - whats the scoop with Base Times for THC. is Mirimbah going to be competitive or a clean stage?
  9. It's going to be good fun. A couple of weeks out now and I'm starting to get excited When are you heading over Timmy? And where are you staying - Top or Bottom?
  10. They won't have the benefit of 2 brand new tyres to help clear the puddles that they had then though. And Dan is right - there are some really fast BITS but overall this course is twisty twisty. I've said before in the right hands I reckon an EMO could win Modern in this event and I can't see it being any different in EMod.
  11. You sure you didn't pick it up in Melbourne? It hasn't stopped here for days! And have you seen Buller? THC in this could be more than interesting!
  12. Well the kit is all good to go - cheers Stu Will be back to looking tough. Also think we sorted the minor handling issue today so will give it a test run @ Sandown tomorrow and see how we go. Gut feel is it's going to be a good thing.
  13. I spoke to Cameron Reeves during the week and the Skelta's are definitely out. Well Ray has spat the dummy whilst the other owners are "happy" enough to keep running in DEMO class. So Cameron is chasing a new seat now for Targa. At this stage I'm unsure whether I can put the Z Tune kit back on my car like I had last year given the new rules. Stu has become impossible to get hold of in the last month to get it clarified. It was due to get done on Monday as well. But there's nothing quite like leaving things til the last minute!
  14. For the new car I've done away with the Terratrip and got a Garmin Zumo. Has a nice little Odometer screen + can transfer easy between cars + plays music through an SD card slot which is tops since I no longer have any radio or anything! It's quite cool really.
  15. Ok - Mansfield is not what we recce'd! LOL
  16. Those bits aren't the super hard / dodgy bits. They were just the bits where IF you got it wrong you are 100% retired for the event.
  17. Thats on Day 2 isn't it Scott? Like on Skyline? I was actually talking about the corner where the top of the giant power pole is sitting @ road level about 20m from the edge of the road.
  18. Will try and post up some vid footage of YT's Westpac corner (aka Westpac Rescue Helicopter will be required). It's a big drop - and the drop starts about 50cm's from the edge of the road - and there are no barriers! (oh - and its a big tightening corner.....)
  19. Well we covered the course with notes in hand yesterday (minus Mt Buller). It sure is.... interesting! Day one has lots of long fast sections that are different to Tassie stuff as the fast sections have a number of LLLOOOOONNNGGGG fast corners that have changes in radius mid corner. They will be challenging for sure. Plus of course as Jeff has alluded too there is some epically dangerous sections where making a mistake will be the last one you make. Especially on the Tolmie / Powers Lookout stage. And then there is the day 2 stuff. It's INTENSE! For Jamieson / Mt Terrible the Navs will not stop for breath. It's just corner into corner into corner into corner for 10kms - and at least 30% are tightening. Big River / Eildon are basically the same except for the single fastest bit of tarmac I'm sure I will ever drive on. In the Big River direction I'm wondering if we will hit 300km/hr. I reckon we'll come close if we are brave enough (its not the best bit of road for those kinds of speeds though!). But its a 6L 300 9R~10L 600 9R 900 DOWN HILL (well at least its downhill for the first 500m of the 900 straight) And I'm sure others will disagree with me Stu but I'm not entirely sure that turning that section into one super stages is a good thing. Even if it was the same length as Mt Arrowsmith it would still have at least 3x's the number of corners as Mt Arrowsmith. Its super intense driving through there and any mistakes are going to be bad with the whole cliff thing along that road!
  20. Dan there is only so much we can do in a day given the distance from home. I've worked out if we head up - drive each stage once and get some footage of it - then head home we still have to cover over 700kms in the day! It's going to be hard to do any meaningful recce without spending a whole weekend up there - which unfotunately is something I won't have time to do.
  21. The rear wing is an OEM copy basically (as are all the parts) so the standard wing brake light fits straight into it. All of the carbon parts are still available.
