  1. The PI July 18-19 regs and entry form are now available on the PIARC website front page. http://www.piarc.com.au/ Cheers Snowy
  2. I got a late call up it seems. Am booked in for Thursday morning now.
  3. you know I got offered an awesome deal on a new donar R34 on Friday and after looking at the scary list of things I should bring across from the old car I was half tempted to just chuck a cage in and run it otherwise stock for shits and giggles. Its currently got an IMPUL ECU (I think to just remove the limiter??) and an exhaust and other than that its dead stock. Would be amuzing to see how fast it was. Only problem is it looks so pretty - and its not blue.
  4. So Stu when do we find out the full details for High Country? I need to get motivated into getting a car and the less time I have for motivation the less chance there is I will have the time to get one ready. Although my motivation/confidence took another hit on the weekend when my good buddy in W.A. Blaise wiped his car out in his first crack at Tarmac Rallying at the new Targa South West on Saturday. Sad to see and now we both find ourselves with a cabin already booked for THC but neither of us have a car!
  5. Big shame that shitfight has gone on. Great concept with crappy administrators. Still - I for one will be forever greatfull for their existance. If it wasn't for them I'm sure I would never had the chance to drive some of the cars I did.
  6. Yeah plenty of SAU people do these days. If you plan on coming for this event let me know and I will come down for it as well and see if any other crew are keen. The thing to remember about PI is that it is FAST. So there is plenty of cooling before the 2 stops so brakes aren't an issue. Speeds are high though so you'd want good tyres and PI is hard on tyres - especially right fronts so you'll want to rotate them around over a weekend. otherwise just the usual oil cooling etc. It really is a place that is hard on drivers metal capacity more so than on vehicles. But it is easily the best Austrailan track I've driven on so well worth the effort.
  7. Also - no help for June - but the remaining 2 Day LS2 events held by PIARC dates for the year are: July 17 + 18 Aug 21 + 22 Nov 13 + 14 These are probably the best ones to plan for if you are coming interstate as you can run multiple days - and if you've never been to PI before I can tell you most normal people need a good 2 days to get their head around the place for their first visit.
  8. Matt - the Alfa club are running an LS2 day there on July 3rd if thats of any use? Entry forms etc aren't available yet but you can probably get some details for it through the club - http://www.alfaclubvic.org.au Cheers Snowy
  9. Duncan - if you are going to be serious about this event next year can I suggest a new set of Dunlops for you. At Phillip Island we have seen close to 5s / lap difference between an old set of Bridgestones (which I understand you tried) and a new set of the factory dunlops. (1.46 on new dunlops - 1.51 on old bridgestones). We all know there could be many other factors that could be the reason for that big difference but there is no doubt that the Dunlops are the best road tyre going around for these cars on a track.
  10. Apparently Mark has done a head gasket (which is being fixed now) and Russ broke his engine in half. Neither of them will run today. But the head gasket is being fixed now and a new engine for Russ is on its way down from Brisbane. Sounds like a long night ahead for them!
  11. Damn oath they do! Apparently the WRX just did a 32 as well. Any word from Team Truck Mechanics?
  12. From the EC website the record is: V8 Supercars Mark Skaife Commodore VT 1:31.7301 28/03/99 Production Sports Allan Simonsen Ferrari GT 360 1.33.4054 06/08/06 GT Sports Cars David Wall Porsche GT3 Cup S 1.33.1910 19/07/09 So the Sierra Sierra EMO is already faster than the Cup Cars.
  13. Your advert says you are going back the EMO lands though Dom! Your old car is also a JDM with no street rego though right? Anyways - my R34 could be fixed. The chasis rails are still fine. But its a 7yo race car that I have been considering putting out to pastures for a little while now and this seems like the perfect excuse to do so.
  14. Dom can't be enjoying it that much - it's already up for sale! I was half tempted I must say since my 34 has gone to heaven.....
  15. Well I got mine in the mail yesterday morning - sent the email off straight away and was told 5mins later I had missed out on a spot. So if you hadn't already put your name down before 9am yesterday then you ain't going to get a spot it seems.
  16. You really are going the extra yards to get this move done hey mate!
  17. Got mine too.
  18. Slightly off topic - but a great example of a comparison to this point is James Courtney in the Super Taxi's. He used to do some really dumb things on the track but now he has a good car and is driving with some of the best smarts I have seen on a race track. EG on the weekend at Winton when he half punted Lowndes in the flip flop and just let the result be corrected to avoid a penalty and waited a bit longer for another propper crack at a passing move. In the past he would have just kept barging through until a black flag was thrown at him. I think Mark is doing the same thing - think back to the stupid pit lane move at the Ring last year that cost him a drive through only to finally get his first win regardless. I think in the past he may have been a bit on the agressive side as he felt he needed to in order to get a result where as now I think he knows results will come so has a more level head. I was actually suprised to see Louise show some restraint at turn 1 at Monaco on the weekend when he was basically wheel to wheel with The Kub but gave up on not only that position but to Massa as well. I'm sure in another life he would have taken all 3 of them out in an attempt to jump to P3 off the line. Anyways - whats the chances both Mac and Fez will give up on the gentlemans agreement and bring back KERS before years end? They are both missing out on their free 2 spots at the start this year badly!
  19. LOL - more like looking for a competative advantage. Because the big problem with the TT-RS is it means going head-to-head with Matt Close and then I'm likely to be shown for the hack I truely am!
  20. And they look good in Blue! Although the AVUS matt one looks even better. Infact I wonder if under the special "Super Alphabet ATTKD SP" rules you can run an AVUS TT-RS??? lol
  21. Given that this year both Matt and Maher's cars were showroom + a flash tune I'm sure there is a lot more to be seen from these cars in the future. I did say to Matt at Lake Mountain that they would become the new EVO once people saw what he did in his! But I rate them highly. 1300kgs FTW!
  22. They are also on my (ever growing) short list! Well the Golf R and the Scirocco R are anyways. The list as it currently stands is Rebuild another GTR NSX-R RX7 Louts Esprit (thats the Brisby coming out in me). Or go something newer like the TT-RS or the VW option. The new car thing might appeal if I can also make it an Enduro car for Bathurst 12hr. The only thing I do know is doing something with the 35 doesn't appeal. And neither does an EMO.
  23. I'm thinking after 7 years in the GT-R a new challenge could be welcome. Not sure yet as I haven't had time to think about it propperly but I am thinking a 2WD challenge could be just what I need. And really if you think about it last year Early Mod was won by a 2WD car and this years should have been won by one so it's not like they can't be quick enough by any stretch. But the reality is I'm more worried about killing myself in one than I am about being competative as last year in my 2 little RWD motorsport drives (Caterham and Exige S) I did serverely suck! LOL But that is why I am quite keen on this challenge. Time will tell.
  24. That's one of the options on my short list! Blaise just drove a well sorted S7 in W.A. and said it was by far the quickest car through corners he's ever driven.
  25. Slightly different - but they had the LeMans Series Spa 1000 on Fox yesterday. Bordais put the Peugot on pole with a 1.57 something lap - makes our 2.55 in the Caterham look rather unspectacular hey Bris! Funny to watch though - a bunch of them crashed out on the formation lap which was highly amuzing! And then Bordais 2nd driver punted it off on corner 1. Bet he was spewin he didn't start the race afterall.... Still - watching that made me want to go back there for sure. In something with a roof next time though!
