  1. I think there is about 6 of us in R35's talking about going (for whatever reason had only been talked about on the EMO forums). But I'm currently 50/50 as this year is bad timing for me as I'll be flat out here at work for the first half of the year, and I have Targa stuck in the middle of it that will probably consume any real spare time I might have. So I won't know until much closer to the date if I can even make it - and by then I'll probably have missed out anyways. But if the stars do happen to align I'll bring the 35 for a crack. But I'm pretty sure Duncan is going to be there (R35 Duncan - not the dorky R32 one) and he'll be hard to beat in Club. Unless Slip goes in his thing in which case it'll be on!
  2. I was going to say - after how many years you've been on here now Bris SURELY people would know not to believe anything you say about your car. LOL
  3. 10 days? I'm not 100% sure on the others plans but I leave in 6 days. And given its Adam's 1st ever rally I'm pretty sure doing it with 0 days recce just isn't going to be an option for him! LOL
  4. Haha - yeah Handbags sent me through some pics. Your guys engine looks a LOT more busted than mine did LOL And you have less time to fix it. Plus you have to respray the car from the fire! You were riding shotgun at the time right? What was the call? Right 6 into Left 5, 100, Engine Failure into Fire Ball into Immediate Lots of Swearing? Good luck with it all though. Team Last Minute FTW!
  5. Well firstly my strut tops didn't fit so I needed new ones made - but the rest have been manufacturing issues....
  6. I had to do a couple of little mods to shift the car from Z Tune Spec to N1 spec (basically so I could run in Early Modern rather than R35 fodder class). This basically included changing the exhaust over to a 3" system and putting on some N1 spec turbo's. Only when we got to the turbo' we discovered the water lines were infact being oil lines. A quick inspection of the radiator showed it too was pretending to be an oil cooler. So the engine had to come out and be inspected. The head gasket looks ok so we "presume" its a cracked head. But I can't be 100% sure so since there was a spare N1 engine laying around we've chucked that in instead now. So fingers crossed we get it sorted out by the weekend. The MCA's aren't looking likely to be ready though which sucks. But they've just had one issue after another!
  7. Yeah 130 is generally considered the danger/stop point for oil temps.
  8. So the car went in for the new suspension to be fitted and now looks like this! I had no idea suspension upgrades were going to be so expensive else I'd never have bothered!
  9. I think in the end he just decided against it because he reckons he just needed 4 paw power for when it is wet. His final options were a 997TT, R35 and the TT-RS. He was always most keen for the RS - just because it was different - but he'd always been concerned over the fact the the engine hangs so far over the front wheels. But apparently he took it for a spritted drive last night and is mightly impressed with it out of the box so we'll just have to wait and see I guess.
  10. I'm going to be interested to see how this runs in Tassie this year! He gets to run it as M2 (LMS) regs as well so it will be interesting to see just how well it performs. If you don't know who it belongs to the plates help give it away! *Hint - he used to drive a Black Porka...fast
  11. We were limitted to running 800m only as Holden didn't want people doing over 200kms/hr on there. We cracked over 200 - but not by heaps. I think my GPS said it was around the 230km/hr mark. That being said the surface on there wasn't exactly brilliant so I can see why they wanted speeds keeps under control. It might be a high speed bowl but it sure aint a top speed bowl if that makes sense.
  12. Well it looks like I'm not going to get to really drive the car with the new set-up until I basically put the car onto the trailer to head to Tassie. Not ideal really but what can you do!
  13. There are a bunch of car event run at Mangalore airport in Vic as well - but again it just isn't that long. The fact remains as far as I know the 2 best places in Oz you can do a fast run is Phillip Island race track (900m straight - but you enter the straight at around 180km/hr and exit at around the same speed so you have plenty of room for getting upto speed) - or Conrod straight at bathurst. But without 11ty KW's neither of them will let you crack 300. The only airport that used to be long enough was Avalon but with the introduction of Jetstar that location is now closed to car goers. Which leaves your only other option as the salt flats event held each year around Easter in S.A. - which is an 8km run.
  14. Its just a Kev/Driver Dynamics day mate - not a track day.
  15. Hmmm..... might have to pop in on Sunday and check out the competition I should finally get a chance to drive my car with the new set-up tonight. I'm looking forwards to it.
  16. I'll be interested to see your thoughts on the comparison between the JRZ and Slips Penske's when they arrive.
  17. I'm still on holidays - but I'm back this weekend and will have to start getting myself organised for TWP straight away. I haven't orangised anything really yet - no idea when I'm going, how I'm going or even if my car is working yet. But I'm feeling fresh and revived and I damn excited to be getting back into it. Bring on the MX5's!
  18. Yeah roughly $3.5K delivered for everything.
  19. Yeah but the problem is you are both comparing stock cars to modified ones. Go and find a bog stock R33 GTR and/or R34 GTR and tell me how wonderfull and exciting they are. And then get Slip to take you for a spin in his R35 GTR and tell me how boring and tame it is! Hell even find someone with $2K spent on one with a midpipe and a Cobb tune and tell me how tame and boring it is. Like all GTR's they change a lot with very little effort. So you can't compare the "tameness" of a modified car to a stock one. Hell a modified Gemini will feel less tame than a stock R35 GTR. But you will stuggle to find any stock car out there that compares to a moddified R32-R34 in wild factors.
  20. Looks good - but I must say the "circuit" section looks strangely familiar.... Proposed Vic Layout (circuit layout up the top right) Now the RAC Centre in W.A
  21. I know one of the local members on here has ordered a set (not yet arrived though). He might be nice enough to pop up and let you know how they go once they are fitted
  22. Agreed - to a degree. You need to USE the R35 to really appreciate it IMO. It's taken me 8 months to work this out. So I don't think you need to chase laps times especially but the R35 is too good for anything the streets can really offer. So it's almost boring on the roads because it does everything so easy. You need to give it a challenge to enjoy it. I've re-watched that Top Gear Episode recently where JC drives it across Japan and I appreciate that story even more now as he just wasn't fond of the car until he got to the "fun" bit at the end. But if you are prepared to have some fun in it from time to time you will actually appreciate how sedate it is under normal conditions even more as you really aren't comprimising fun for discomfort. But if you aren't going to have any fun in it I just can't see that you'd every really love it. There are much better cars out that for that purpose.
  23. Good work - I knew someone else would be buying themselves something for Xmas! Hawk pads hey - I thought you were going the Project Mu options? I'm getting the Ferrodo DS3000's myself - only because they are what I always run in the R34 and I've never had an issue with them. But I'm now being sorely tempted by these as well. - http://www.mvpgtr.com/product_info.php?products_id=292
  24. As the title states - is anyone getting their car anything for Xmas? I've been well behaved with mine to-date and the only thing I've had for it until now is the midpipe. But because I'm keen to start "using" the car next year (and maybe start to steal some of Duncan and Mareks thunder in track performances as they seem to be having too much fun!) I've got a few things lined up for the car. I've ordered a couple of little CF bits (hood ducts and fender grills) - simply because I always promised myself I'd do some cosmetics before I got carried away with performance with this car. So this is a token jesture to myself to keep that promise - plus I think they'll look pretty sweet on the white car. I've also ordered some new AP Rotors and pads so that it's ready for the track next year. I'll also be getting soon some Willall fluids and coolers to keep everything as safe as possible. This should have me ready to start on the track so I can see for myself where I reckon the car will need work done first for the best performance improvements. Anyone else got anything planned? We all seem to be pretty tame here in Oz with these cars so far!
  25. Nicely done guys. But I still can't believe you can run around on slicks with-out a cage!
