  1. An entry list for Buller is up. http://www.mountainmotorsports.com.au/pdf/...list_010909.pdf I don't see a B. Wooster on that list But there are some interesting entries! Steve Jones in a Nissan Skyline and the Whites in a "Type R" LOL VTec YO!?
  2. Geez - we can have days here at Sandown for $250/day no worries. And PI costs twice as much to hire at $17K/day. Do the maths on how many cars you would need at $80ea to break even just on track rental costs! LOL
  3. My "Mate" obviously tried to copy Drew and Georgies idea - and failed. LOL Drews car Stupids car LOL
  4. It's not that bad. It's $350 for 2 days - so $175/day. I've been to a lot of track days that are more expensive than $175!
  5. Yeah I admit when I was a kid the 6 wheeler was my dream car! Apparently they are going to build a 6 wheeled supercar - the Covini C6W! It's epic! LOL On-track video of it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dwcE8kwTIa8
  6. FTW!! Check out that wing man! LOL
  7. I went up to Buller on the weekend. It sure is a scary bit of road!! There is definitely a side of the road you don't want to be going off of!
  8. Yeah I wouldn't be rushing out on a set of these just yet. I know on the older model GT-R's the R888's never worked well so I can't see how a heavier car is going to improve matters!
  9. I don't know! As I said until the Franfurst motorshow in a couple of weeks time we are still waiting on all of the spec of the car. It doesn't actually exist yet! All I know is that the apparent aim for the 2 cars were: "For the Roc to be an RS Focus beater and the R20T to be an EVO and STi beater." So heres hoping they are up to it! Although if they really wanted the Golf to be an EVO beater they should have put the 2.5L V5 Turbo from the TT-RS/RS3 in it rather than the S3's 2.0L. It's actually a shame that the Showroom rules don't follow exactly the Bathurst 12hr rules in the max price level as it would open up a whole whack more options to be competative in (those Audi's fore example!). As half the reason I'm keen to do this car is to have something I can do both events in down the track. I'm sure I can find a few boys that'd put their hands up to have a crack at Bathurst in a couple of years if I have a suitable car.
  10. Yeah I've driven a midly sorted 135i at the Nurburgring and it's not something I'd want to do Targa in. I'm nowhere near that brave! It's a scary car to drive at high speeds - it's VERY twitchy especially under brakes!! It's such a hard car to drive actually that the guys at the Ring have taken it off of their list of cars available to rent now as they deemed it too dangerous! But it needs a rear wing or something to keep the back end stable - which isn't allowed in TT. The 370Z was my original thoughts but as Ben pointed out it's the lack of Turbo that kills it. Hence the VW options. Both will be 2.0L turbo's and I reckon the AWD Golf R20T might be ok for a crack at Showroom Outright in the right hands (not saying mine are the right hands though! LOL).
  11. Haha - good times! You should hire another S2000 Dunc!
  12. Oh I like that idea. You could base sell them for under $80K so that they are with-in the rules - then have a $100K racing package "option" like the EVO RS have! You're a thinking man Tom!
  13. Yeah - but it's FWD. Else I would for sure. Still - it may turn out to be a better option than the R20T (can still do Targa Showroom plus have a crack at the Bathurst 12hr "Hot Hatches" class in it. It just won't be "Outright" fast. But I'd only go the R20T if I think it could be Outright fast - else the Roc is the go). Will just wait and see what all the final specs end up being on them all.
  14. Not the RS Focus. BUT - I have a love for other R cars other than Nissans. And there are 2 coming out early next year that should be sweet. The Roc R (which I'm told IS coming to Oz since they are building it in RHD for the UK market) The R20T (R32 replacement). I've punted a base model Roc around "The Ring" and it's a very capable car, and the R20T will get the same tricky diff + 4WD and both will have very good power from the Audi S3 engine. And I love the gearboxes in them (the wife has an R36 now as I like them so much!) So I'm really keen to see exactly how they stack up when they arrive next year (we'll get the full details on the R20T @ the Frankfurt motorshow at the end of the month).
  15. Haha - ok it sounds like the best solution is to find a car and then come and talk to you about the options available hey Stu! Because my main issue is the cars I've been considering at this stage don't even exist yet. LOL So this project is still a while off. But this low budget - high reliabiliy concept is really appealing looking ahead.
  16. Right - but the M1 regs only state: "Springs and their mountings, dampers and torsion bars are free" - but they all run coil-overs. The only difference between the two wordings really is in the spring mounting - which I thought really just implied height adjustment?
  17. I reckon there are just far too many rule ambiguities that you can stress yourself over if you start taking it all too seriously. I mean I'm really keen to get involved in the Showroom class after next year (since Wooster talked me out of my NSX idea! lol) and reading those regs I still don't understand how an RS model EVO falls under the guidelines of "Vehicles must be commercially available within Australia as a massed produced model" when you can't even street register the damn things! LOL I know they are allowed however - I just don't understand how that is the case given the basis of the "rules". But I don't care that they do run and infact I'm quite looking forwards to trying to find something that I can try and beat them in! (There might be a few new car options in the next 12 months that could be fun). Or if all else fails actually turning darkside! But I do have one Showroom question for the experts (Greg or Stu I guess!) - with the suspension rules can someone with more understanding than me explain exactly what this means? "Dampers are free, but must retain the standard style spring seats that are not adjustable". Does that mean you can run aftermarket coil-overs or what? Yes but they can't be height adjustable? That sentence totally has be baffled.
  18. I could be interested. I've been wanting to take the new car to PI for a spin.
  19. Nope. The Targa car is fixed (is with TMR) but the Bathurst car and the Targa car are different cars. He has 2 identically looking ones! Not sure that the Targa car has the speed fuel fillers though that the Bathurst car (and the one pictured above) has. But he def has 2 cars.
  20. I think you'll find that's his Bathurst 12hr winning one.
  21. Just so you are aware there are a couple of other options of basically the same thing as those Cobb kits. The main thing to determine is what your plans for the car are as they each come with significantly different spring rates. The Cobb system is pretty much focused on a street set up where as the below 2 systems are a bit more track focused as far as spring rates go. 22. Yeah I'm keen to attend even though I have no plans to enter right now. Should be a fun weekend of drinking however!! Am half thinking about doing the Tour instead of the competiton just for shits and giggles!
  23. That is an amuzing story The thing that gets me is that it was known BEFORE the event even started that the stewards were going to exclude them apparently. I think it's just wrong that they let the guys risk their lives and assets to compete knowing full well they were going to exclude them at the end anyways. Poor form that.
  24. And this is the dumb thing - and the "fall out" I was talking about. It seems the gap between the 2 ruling parties is getting wider and wider and it's obviously becoming a case of needing 2 seperate cars almost for both sets of regs - or else making competitors choose which events they are going to run. CAMS ones or AASA ones. But with the major Eastern rallies running under AASA I see that ruling on Tony (not so much the one on Klark as a 2.2L is banned under both sets of regs) will mean they will struggle to get competitors from over East to the event in future years that have built cars specifically to AASA rules. Anyways.... that's all be covered before and I'm sure will be again.
