  1. A mate told me last night that published in the current issue of AutoAction that the Australian GT Championship has decided to take the "Targa Class" concept run at Symmonds Plains for the V8 round and incorperate it full time as a sub class in all their future rounds. Basically we know guys like the Moslers etc have pulled out of the GT Championship so they are looking to increase field sizes - and also a few of the Targa guys (the Quinn's, Donut King guys, etc) run in this championship so perhaps they have had some influence on this decsion. But I can't find anything anywhere to confirm it. But if it is true I tell you the chance to run the rounds at Bathurst and the Australian GP - FARK YEAH! It really does open up the door to a new realistic racing catagory option for Skylines as a whole, even if they aren't interested in doing Targa.
  2. I can answer this one. Car was from a specialist company - http://www.rent-racecar.de/gb/ A few of us have used them in the past and they are great people with cars specifically set-up for the task.
  3. You know Aaron - its 5,000 Euro to enter the 24hr Race. So with a Team of 4 thats 1,250 Euro each. I reckon there has to be some companies over there that set-up lease deals with cars for that event. I think we need to plan it for one day in the future
  4. Nice job mate. You've set a new bench-mark. I think I might have a couple of chances in the next 12 months to have a crack at it. Was the VW another DSG?

    Real N1

Classics can't be turbo 4WD/AWD either...

    Real N1

You don't need to be super fast to still need brakes! There's nothing worse than that feeling when you press the brake pedal and it goes to the floor.

    Real N1

PS - if looking at that ex Whites R34 for any motorsport then budget an extra $10K to replace the White Hot Motorsports brake set-up. Everyone who has owned that car since has complained about massive pad knock-off and it can only be as a result of those dodgy home made brakes. LOL I don't know why they keep doing it. The had to give up the chase at Targa this year with the Lambo as their brakes gave out again.

    Real N1

As far as I'm aware that one IS an actual N1. It was one of only 2 real N1's in the country that I knew of. The rest of them were "replicas" - the other one was hurt pretty bad in Tassie this year
  9. I'm in. Wonder how the R35 will go drifting?? Actually I'm pretty keen for a day at the snow on the way home on Sunday (say Mt Buller). Anyone else up for that idea?
  10. I must be having rally with-drawals finally. I dreamt I was driving through a patato field last night! LOL
  11. Some of the video's with sound Oh - and one of the things I didn't mention (for those that know me I can quite happily stand up there and talk for hours but I knew you all were there to see the hoodies so I tried to keep it as brief as I could!) - Classics which I mentioned were for cars 1990 - 1947 have another rule in that they cannot be 4wd at all (so NO R32 GT-R's - take that hoodies!). As a consequence this year one of the most competative cars was an R32 GTST. (ended up finishing 3rd out-right in Classics - thats Marlin on these forums incase this little prattle inspires anyone). What's more impressive for me is that over all of the stages I did I never once beat him on a stage time. Now Marlin drove the year before in an R34 GT-R N1 and he even smashed his own R34 times in his little R32 GTST - so you don't need a mega KW GT-R down there thats for sure. His little car weighs a few hundred kg's less than my thing and once you get into those windy roads that's a bigger advantage than HP and AWD. Food for thought. Here are some of his video's. And (he has plenty more!)
  12. I can't believe Nissan puts wheels on their cars. I mean wheels were this dudes idea! But they do and they don't even credit for him for it!! Makes me not want to buy a car again.
  13. yep - a mid-pipe is the only "must have" for the R35 IMO. There might be some other "should haves" but the mid-pipe is a must. It gives the car the sound it should have without upsetting anyone or anything.
  14. My opinion is still if you have never done Targa before then you'd be better off either having a go in the crazy seat first OR if like me you just couldn't do that then have a go at the Rookie Rally. Because no matter how much you read up on the event you just can't be prepared for what you actually need to do to get to the end of it until you've been there to see it once. But I understand if you have done the full event before (even from the crazy side) it would be hard to go backwards. But I have no regrets in doing the Rookie Rally at all. There were enough epic stages to keep me satisfied and it means I can look forwards to some new ones next year. And in answer to your question Ben - D Griffiths this year finished considerably better than the 2008 Modern Rookie Winner did this year And if I can finish next year in Modern as well at Griffith did this year in Classics I'll be wrapped But watch out for 2011
  15. You know I never drive mine in Auto. I drive it in M + VDC in R Mode pretty much always. And like that it is FUN to drive around town IMO. You can give it a quick squirt from time to time and with the mid-pipe you can have fun listening to the down-shifts at every opportunity. I never get tired of it
  16. No I don't wish there was a manual. I only wish I could put the R35 box into my R34. Once you have really driven a car with one of these boxes hard you'll never want a 3rd pedal back in your car again.
  17. John I've driven both and haven't noticed any difference in the seats at all.
  18. Na I'm thinking either an NSX or RX7 but which ones will depend on the data. I really wanted to do an NSX Type R but thats a 1992 car. Having said that there was nothing majorly special about the Type R other than suspension and weight - which I can do both under the rules regardless.
  19. Well if you want to be on TV it seems you need to be either in Showroom, Outright Classic or Modern. I don't know why they bother with the other catagories really Anyhoo - it got me thinking way ahead for a couple of years time of looking at Classic cars (since the budget for Modern is plain silly). I was under the impression that the upper date for classics moved but it seems it is now stuck at 1990. Is that the case (Stu?) and how long is 1990 likely to remain the upper limit for Classics? I was looking at some 1992 cars for the 2011 race but I take it they won't be available for Classics?
  20. For anyone slightly stupid like me I went and got some more info from Adam at Stylyn regarding what's exactly involved in doing everything and what you are actually getting. As it stands right now the Sat / Nav and Front camera will be operated by switches that will be put into the car under the "R Mode" switches (so above where you put a cd in). You won't be able to see them but they will be an addition to the car. Also - the Sat Nav is technically a stand alone unit (like a Garman) so the screen will only be for viewing. You will need a seperate remote to enter data etc - can't use the touch screen etc like in the US / JDM cars. The reversing camera will come on as soon as the car is put into reverse so there are no extra switches. The iPod as mentioned is currently going to be a hard-wired FM transmitter. Again the unit will have to be mounted somewhere you can see it (and it is also controlled by another remote). The iPod cable can be put into the glovebox but the fact is it is still an FM transmitter. For prices you are looking at around $250 for the iPod stuff and around $4K for the Nav and Cameras.
  21. Yeah I'll bring it down next week to the club meeting
  22. I got it on the weekend. I think it's a cracking good game. One of the best on the PS3 for me so far.
  23. Yeah but Jeff - the AR and BP times were the same car (stock ADM) - the MT was the other stock ADM car whilst your times were from a JDM car with an Accessport! They were 3 very different times between the cars though given they are the same car and the fact that each car could easily replicate it's own times.
  24. Does anyone know if these weights include the drivers? Because Webber always seems to be that 6-7kgs heavier than Vettel but rarely does he run all that much longer in the 1st stint so I'm curious if the weight difference we always see is to do with Mark himself rather than just the fuel difference?
  25. I have some further details on venues for ATC NSW. It will begin on a Thursday which will be all day at EC / WSID Over the rest of the event there will be stages at Taree Airport, Grafton Hillclimb - and maybe another hillclimb thats along the way? (NSW people might know) Releigh Raceway - Town Stages in Newcastle and Coffs Harbour And for those wondering what the WRC Special stage will consist of - apparently it is the 2.5km course used for the Speed on Tweed at Murwillumbah Northern NSW -
