All I can see is "Access Denied" lol
Anyhoo - was great. But I don't actually get to bring it home until tomorrow morning (It only literally arrived late yesterday and hasn't had all the dealer delivery stuff done yet).
Sleep last night was poor - I expect tonights sleep will be worse!
But here's a quick pic for those with Access Denied issues like me.
Well the exciting news is I was given the keys to my car tonight! The upsetting part is I have to wait another couple of days before I can actually take it home.
Here's a quick pic - more to come later.
Haha - I'd like to have done but the wife didn't want to come. Something to do with "blah blah blah" (aka - I wasn't listening to her excuses as to why she didn't want to come. It was unimportant.)
But - I'll be taking pics of the 3 of them together this weekend. I'll be sure to post them up for you all
Actually from the play I had in Jeff's a while back I think it might be faster than my race car as well especially since we've turned the R34 down so much recently (And yes I'm bringing the R35 across as my recce car!)
I get my car back tomorrow (for hopefully the last time!). Phillip Island this weekend as a final shake-down. Looks like we might even get a bit of wet down there which could make for some great Targa practise.
Should start to get excited then - although I reckon I'll have another distraction for a couple of days this week at least.
But I know Drew and Georgie are heading over to Tassie this coming weekend for Recce.
Yeah I have 375mm rotors wit alcon calipers and have the same issue.
TE37's and LMGT4's are the only things I've found that fit.
Volk Challenge, CE28's, a couple of sets of different Enkies and Stock R34 GTR rims definitely don't fit!
It was a good race - I really see these new tyre regs playing a big part in results this year as well. It was amazing to see how fast some of those cars were when first on the soft tyres but then how at the end of the stint they really went off. I reckon we'll see some good action this year with tyre conditions during races.
However my biggest worry for the season is this dffuser thing. From my understanding of the rules wording I can't see how the Diffuser3 crew can lose (but then one of the teams isn't Ferrari so I can see it happening). So Brawn haven't won a GP yet.... It's almost unbelievable to think that Hamilton may end up being awarded the victory in Melb and Webber in the points!
But the biggest problem is the fact that which ever way the FIA do decide on the teams in the wrong are screwed with the new no Winter testing rule. Because the problem is as far as I'm aware that the cars have to present for scrutiny on the Thursdays before the GP which means they can't actually play around trialing new parts on the Friday / Saturday. They basically have to make a choice before the weekend starts and if as Mclaren has said that their diffuser style is part of their overall car design these guys won't simply be able to whack on a new diffuser with-out testing in real life if things are going to work. So if the Diffuser3 win I can't see how any of the other teams can take the punt on putting out a car with untested parts. If the ruling goes the other way then the Diffuser3 lot are screwed as they won't have a choice.
Insurance companies are funny things. Shannons have quoted me for use of the car for Business use - however I have also been a Shannons customer for 10 years with other cars so maybe thats why.
This is the list I've been given today of where they'll be.
LEG 1 = ON ROUTE – Beaconsfield Sports Ground - Silverdome
LEG 2 = ON ROUTE - St Helens (Esplanade) - Silverdome
LEG 3 = ON ROUTE – East Devonport Rec Ground - Refer road book
then Silverdome
LEG 4 = ON ROUTE – Erriba (after Cethana) - Penguin Sports Center -
Tullah (after Township) - Strahan (Esplande)
LEG 5 = ON ROUTE – Queenstown (end of Strahan Stage)- Derwent Bridge after Mt Arrowsmith
This is the Elf Race-fuels fuel service that only has stops on Day 1 and 2 at lunch!! I think they call themselves Performance Tyres and Fuels down in Tassie.
That's who I was planning on using for fuel but it seems they will only half help me!
Geebuz - just when I think I've got my fuel issues under control I find out the fuel guys are only at the lunch stops on day 1 and 2.
So thats 114km to lunch on day 1 (ok) - 217km's after lunch (no hope)
195km's to lunch on day 2 and then 232km's after lunch (all no hope!)
How the hell do the rest of you get so far on a tank of fuel!!!?
There is an extra refuel zone in the afternoon on Day 1 and extra zones in the morning and afternoon on Day 2 - but if the refuel mobs aren't there (and there are no 98 stations) how are you supposed to do fuel regardless unless you have your own crew?
My car is in at the panel shop getting the TWP scar removed (where the tow hook ripped through the front bar) - and yet I still have another shake down event before Targa in a couple of weeks. Part of me has always thought I am crazy doing it with still some pre-prep to go and Benny your story sure hasn't helped that feeling! LOL
Although my last remaining shake down is at Phillip Island and I always like to think that is a place where people try harder than ever to stay on the black stuff. It's not somewhere that rewards tom foolery with a laugh all that often!
They were the test / press cars that they have been using for training etc down at Broadford these last weeks.
The first of the customer delivered cars are the ones arriving on the boat this week.
I'd heard he was trying to run in the Mini Challenge this year as well but I haven't been able to find an entry list for the GP yet to see if he got there or not. But Steve is good value - mildy insane but always entertaining
And handy with a spanner should you blow a front diff!
