Yep - those buttons are why I got the plates

Well given basically none of the N1 GT-R's doing targa are actual N1's the short answer is no it doesn't matter that it's not the genuine article. You can follow guidelines and build a "replica" which is the common thing to do for many of the cars including EVO's (RS) and WRX's (Spec C, 22b etc) amoungst other cars. Then of course there is the classics. I think you'd find a large % of the entrants are in non-genuine cars simply because the genuine ones cost far to much to buy and then butcher into race cars! Hell even the 2 well know Lambo Superlegga's aren't genuine ones (just standard Gallardo's) and I bet by the time Targa rolls around we'll see a couple of R35 GT-R Spec V's listed as well. As for the Nav Age - James is doing the job first up and Dan is stepping in for April.

Superlap 2009 Gets A Green Light!
Snowman replied to Superlap Australia's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Bah - when are cars ever ready early in advance. I'm 2 weeks out from heading to tas for my 1st ever Rally and Benno hasn't even started fixing all the broken stuff on the car from July yet. Everything (including the engine out to fix the diff) needs to be done next week so I can do everything else the following Tuesday (as Mon is a public hoiliday) before I go on the ship on the Wed. Team last minute FTW! -

I'm keen to see how Sams car stacks up against the other 2 R32's. That should be pretty interesting. So shall we start a book now for the odds on Brisby actually making it. No chance in hell currently leads the odds @ $1.01 -
LOL - look it was 37 degs or something when I got the car. It was FAR to hot to do all the nice little things. It was almost too hot to taken any pictures let alone be fancy with them. Hopefully one day shortly I'll get a couple more good shots. Complete with the black rims and tyre shine (just for you Nick).

Original before pic. So now had the extra front lip, bonnet, front guards, side skirts, rear pods.... and all of the clear coat and a nice even all round colour!

Yeah but R34's have this stupid diffuser thing at the front (tow points are accessed through the lower lip vents - but thats not all that handy for a jack! -

Hey Dunc - the car will be raised next week. Even if for no other reason that so I can get a damn jack under it! Those side skirt extensions mean I only have 120mm clearance now. But I know from just some decent cruises that the car bottoms out on the exhaust so it was always going to be raised a bit anyways. -
Na Aaron has the top secret side skirts and bonnet and the Nismo front bar.
-
Haha - less than 2 weeks. My 1st rally is on Jan 31st in Tassie. The car is being entered as a 2005 Nismo GT-R Z Tune (hence why I've done the kit).
-
The Z Tune actually runs twin front oil coolers. The rear coolers are diff and trans coolers. The bonnet itself is actually from Unique Autosports in NSW. I've had it for a while - same people that did Jacks R33 one. But the stuff from JSAI while it wasn't 100% perfect (took a little bit of fiddling to get it to fit bang on) was overall pretty damn impressive for the price of it all. I genuinely have no drama's at all with the quality of it and whilst Josh can be hard to deal with at times I'd put up with it again if he ever had something else I wanted to get as I wouldn't hesitate getting stuff from him again.
-
ok well let me put it this way - I rang Ben and he said "keep the standard bar as it's better for the oil cooler" (Mick had a genuine Nismo bar sitting there ready to put on but the boss said no) LOL
-
The gaps in the side of the Nismo bar make the oil cooler less effective. Hence why we stuck to the standard front bar. (It is a race car afterall).
-
FG. Is the JSAI kit posted here from one of the forum traders.

Does that mean you are going to drive now rather than Nav mate? In other news - the external Z Tune makeover is complete!! (well excpet for the badges). -
Well I just picked the car up from Mick @ Micolour who has finished fitting the new Z Tune kit and spraying the whole car. It's come up brilliantly (pics don't do it justice - will have to get some better ones later but it's too hot out there right now). But I'm wrapped with how it's turned out

Stretched Tyres For Track Days
Snowman replied to WARLORD's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yep. We run 245's on our 9.5" rims and 265's on our 10.5" rims for best results. So on a 10" maybe a 255 would be the way to go but it's generally not a common size in which case I'd tend towards the 265's before the 245's. -

Snowman replied to Roy's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Don't know how much of a rush I'd be to getting them anyways. I got some priced from a supplier in Japan and at 43,000yen per tyre for 265/35/18's plus delivery you are looking at a pretty serious bill by the time they arrive here! That makes DZ03's look reasonable in price. In fact the price of R comps over the next year or 2 could become quite scary I think. -
It's definitely the least fugly 09 car we've seen to date.

Yokie Ao50 Vs Re11s Bridgestones
Snowman replied to Roy's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Yeah we found the same thing. We found the little tyres that suited the EVO's / WRX's were cheap as but the bigger sizes needed for skylines were more expensive than the Bridgestones. I went down and chatted to Bridgestone today as well about these new RE-11S tyres. They'd never heard of them (they had to google them!) and pretty much said not to expect any here for at least another 12 months. -
Well the big question we'd all been waiting for is how much weight has it lost. Even that is disappointing (it only lost 60kgs - now listed as 1680kgs - down from 1740kgs).

Snowman replied to Roy's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
The popular Kuhmo R Comp is the ECSTA V70A. Quite a few EVO guys run them I know that much. They are def better in the wet than the RE55's but not as fast in the full dry apparently.
