R34 Gtr Rims - Brake Clearance
Snowman replied to LotusGTR's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Upto 365mm which is the common size for say the Alcons still fit. I'm running 375mm and they don't fit with the R34 rims (but do fit with some other 18" rims like TE37's and LMGT4's) -
Use the SR2's. They are your best bet (and what we always use). That way you can be sure they will last ad you should also get some use with them after the event for a few track days etc.

As an update I heard today that we are actually going to be getting the Sat Nav (from the guy going to Japan to learn it for Nissan)

I have to say since semi's aren't readily available in 20's I'm suprised people haven't given the Pirelli P Zero's a shot on the GT-R's. I was super impressed with them on the R8's we ran at Phillip Island and the lap times we were doing showed they were performing pretty sweetly too. They did have a drop off in perfmormance once they got really hot but it wasn't too bad. http://www.pirellipzero.com/ But I don't know how they compare to the dunlops as I haven't had the chance to have a play on them. But the Pirellis may be worth a look at if you are looking for rubber.

Ok guys there seems to be some confusion as to the reason for the "rules" to be eligable for this event. They aren't there because we need "the best" drivers or anything. All we need is for people that are familiar with the facilities and are comfortable driving fast. Basically there isn't going to be any practise or sighting laps and given the events are longer we need people that know how these days work and know where to go so that we can get through as much as possible. Don't think you need to be a gun or be intimidated by anything. If you know the place and how we run these days come along as we are doing some things we won't be able to do at a normal SAU DECA and they are a heap of fun.

It's standard in the same way that a cup car is standard from factory. Only Dodge stuck some semi's and a number plate on it. 600HP light-weight special. Someone should do Targa in one! But from what I've read on it it is the scariest thing on earth to drive. I'm guessing thats why that bloke was scared to change gears - he didnt trust taking both hands off of the wheel!

When Is Ferrari Challenge Coming Out On Ps3?
Snowman replied to Dean_HR31's topic in PC & Games Discussion
Ok - I played it for a couple of hours last night and so far it's pretty good. The dynamics of the game are nice. Possibly not quite as good as GT5 but heaps better than anything else so far. It's a little weird in that there is damage to the cars but yet it seems to have 0% influence on performance. The tracks are nice - plenty of old familiar (and yet not familiar. Those who know Infineon from GT4 days will be in for a suprise - I can garantee you will go the wrong way on your 1st lap! lol). There is a bunch of useless rubbish in the game (like some weird card game thing) - but so far I like the way the main racing games play and the way the races pan out. It seems much more enjoyable than anything else I've played on the PS3 racing wise to date. -
When Is Ferrari Challenge Coming Out On Ps3?

Let you know tomorrow. Can't be any worse than any of the current racing games on the PS3 anyways! -
This guy loves the limiter more than you do Bris. You'll be proud http://www.motortrend.com/av/features/112_...ideo/index.html

When Is Ferrari Challenge Coming Out On Ps3?
Snowman replied to Dean_HR31's topic in PC & Games Discussion
This finally came out today. -
Sorry mate but I don't want to be like the US guys that brought in grey imports and have broken gearboxes and are being told they have a 6-12 month wait for a replacement one and still don't know how they are going to get the software match when they finally do get their hands on one. Non warranty/local support on this car just isn't an option. I mean I've owned a GT-R for 5 years now - I KNOW how often they break down.
-
Base model won't be available here if thats where you are getting it from. ONLY the premium will be coming and the sound system will be standard.
-
You mean you're not a virgin? I would have put money on it that you still were.
-
Sorry - I must admit I went off the UK details as far as the which models get the Gunmetal rims http://www.gtrnissan.com/pdf/gtr_eBrochure.en.uk.pdf (my Japanese is a bit rusty) but I was told by my local Nissan contact that at this stage they are not going to be an option here. Like you I hope they change their mind. I'm sure going to be asking for the gun metal rims with mine anyways.

Yeah look I've had a good play with cars of both types before (eg fixed - Ferrari 360 Stradalle and moving - Audi R8) and the moving is definitely the way to go. It's not just crossed up tight corner exits either - at say Phillip Island on the long sweeping final two bends you need to grab gears mid corner as well and possibly exiting southen loop depending on raitios. Its a must have
-
But that requires an aftermarket wheel hey. I was hoping for one that kept the standard wheel.
-
Details?? (Can't believe they have fixed padels! I was hoping someone would make a mod for that.)
-
Except for the fact that EVO's have won the last 2.... (you let the team down Chris)
-
Well living in Japan might mean you can get a GT-R cheap but on the flip side you also have to pay $47 for an apple. So it's not all roses.

This is what I know about the locally delivered ones. Firstly everything will be "officially" announced at the Sydney Motorshow in Oct. After that the websites etc will all be updated as well. But the deal is there are a select number of dealers / service centres in each state. I think some have only one dealer and some have 2. I know in Victoria those dealers are Weribee and Ferntree Gully. These dealers can now all take deposits on cars if you want to be early in the queue and are all in the process of setting up to service the cars (correct hoists, Nitrogen tanks etc). These offical deposits have only just started happening however and anyone that had put one down ages ago all had to be refunded and then started over again. It looks like the first cars are due to arrive here in late Feburary. And the delivery schedule is such that each dealer is roughly allocated 5 cars per month initially but that drops off with time. There are only going to be 240 cars being brought in and thats over a 3 year period (not sure what that does to the imports side of things long term??) I know most of these dealers have already pre-sold their allocations out to around July and there is some feeling that once everything is announced officially that it is possible they may pre-sell all 240 cars before the 1st one even gets here. Specs on the cars are: Only 1 model which is the full Premium Edition with the 11 Speaker Bose Sound System. Engine, Brakes, Suspension specs are identical to the Japanese cars The tyres will be the Bridgestone RE070 run flats Auto headlights and blue-tooth will be on the cars (these aren't on the US cars I think) At this stage however it is not believed the Aus version will have the option of getting the gunmetal rims (was only available on the "Black Editions" in Jap / US) Also there is currently not going to be Sat Nav in the car although that hasn't been confirmed. It may end up being like the UK cars where the Sat Nav will be available only at the end of 2009 and onwards - I'm not sure. But they will know for sure come the Syd motorshow in Oct. Price they are looking at is around $145K but that could change. Again it will be finalised in Oct. Thats all I know for now. I guess the rest will be known in a couple of months and we should start to see some street registered cars on our roads in the not too distant future.
