  1. Aren't you in Ummabadboy though?
  2. Ok - the event schedule has been added to the 1st post.
  3. That sounds really good Jeff. That could fit my timing perfectly.
  4. My car is broken and won't be fixed in time
  5. I'll try and put up the event schedule early next week so everyone can see what the day is going to involve. Because there's definitely some new things that we've never attempted before that should be a lot of fun Cheers
  6. Event Cancelled.
  7. Yeah Bris you got more footage than I did. Guess that's what you get for coming a "disappointing 4th" hey.
  8. I spoke to Nissan on the weekend. Their deliveries start in Feb (5 cars per dealer per month). So there is a small window of opportunities for imports. But they still don't make sense given the price. Nissan quoted me $145K drive away compared to $200K+ for an imported one.
  9. Well it's a lot!!! Especially when you consider you basically don't get warranty (unless you basically don't use the car!) or any factory backing, everything is in Japanese, things like Sat Nav and the radio don't work and all just to potentially get a car at best 3 months before you should be able to get one with everything working for $50K+ cheaper. Makes no sense at all.
  10. Saw the one at Nissan Head office on the weekend. It looks awesome lit up in there at night when you drive past.
  11. No the R34 gearbox strength is fine - I just didn't like the ratio's in the 6 speed. For what I do the 5 speed works better. Carry on.
  12. Yep but for the people that want an Oz delivered one because they want the working Sat nav, radio and all the functions etc all in English - not to mention that little thing called waranty - it will mean the cars aren't worth 35% of retail come resale time due to all the crappy imports.
  13. That's awesome news.
  14. I'd love an R8! Seriously they are the only car so far in the Supercar Club fleet that I've said I'd like to own. Although I haven't driven the SuperLegg yet. And around town the manual is better than the paddles. But I'm waiting for Nissan to get their act together as they have what I really want. But I'm sure Deano won't have any issues off loading his one - there's a wait of over 12 months still on those things for a new one.
  15. On the weekend I just did an Audi R8 day down at Phillip Island and we put the clock to a couple of laps and got a 1.50.0 and a 1.50.2 which I can tell you I found staggering in a stock prodution car on street tyres. Apparently the race dude they had there (Christian Murchison) had done a high 1.48 earlier in the week. Now I reckon one of the factors for such a great time was the DSG gearbox - it sure was impressive to use around the track - you can even downshift midcorner without the car so much as flinching. Awesome stuff. And yet scary to think in Top Gear the R35 was roughly 5s per lap around the test track faster than the R8.....
  16. Jeff we timed 2 laps - did a 1.50.0 and a 1.50.2. Apparently Christian Murchisan did a high 1.48 earlier in the week. Not bad for a production car on street rubber (Pirelli P Zero). I sure as hell was impressed. Not to mention I did 40 laps in 2hrs and the car was still perfect at the end (brakes fine, water 90degs and oil 100degs) FYI Christian did some hot laps in the RS4 which we timed at 1.55.2 - so the R8 is considerably quicker.
  17. Spotted a whole bunch of LHD Audi R8's down at Phillip Island yesterday. I even took one for some laps
  18. I have an entire gearbox going spare if thats of interest?
  19. 11.85@NFI - Kwinana (W.A.) The track was damp. First run it was actually WET - that was an interesting experience. (12.4 on a wet drag strip)
  20. Mate you didnt see me in Perth. Times were no where near as important as style was. I think I might be turning into the next Pete. But if we wanted to win we'd just get an EMO and put cf doors etc on it and stroke it - but the fun factor is just not there. The good news is we've won one so it's no longer important. The guys who came 2nd in Perth (and won the drivers) have an 800HP Supra on its way from Japan for next year so the RX7 is to go up against that for shits and giggles. (Will be Blaises car)
  21. Bah to 4wd. Blaise and I are going to build a series 8 RX7 with a TD04 and lots of light-weight goodness just for Duttons. Bring on the skids!!
  22. Cup Car Super Car Both no where near as good as this for this event: Stock VW R32 Golf
  23. There's plenty of propper racecars that do it and there is quite a serious pointy end at times with cars almost built specifically for the event - but there is also a range of stock cars as well. Someone once even did it in their mums Vectra! lol. In Perth this year some bloke got a 3 day pass to run a Porsche Cup Car - even still had 1500lb springs in it!! Was funny and really quite useless (they ended up taking it home and coming back at the end with the spare 997 GT3 RS - tough for some) I guess the biggest "transport" stage you'll find is probably 2.5hrs in any state (and you can't tow a car between stages once the event has started) but generally you are at each location for at least half a day where you can do as many as 12 events each (and usually each day you'll not have to travel more than 1hr during each day - the long trips are either 1st thing in the morning or last thing at night). In my opionion what you want is the best thing you have for going straight over a distance of say 50-100m and to be able to turn around and come back over that distance again if that makes sense. Sometimes a racecar isnt as good as a nicely sorted street car for doing that.
  24. Steve - I understand it that Dutton NSW will be based for 2 days at Goulburn and the final day at Oran Park this year. As for the actual events to be run you never find out until the day before the event starts (aka - so you can't practise). Stuart - I usually budget $6K to do each event - or $3K each if you do it as a team (as you should). That includes, entry, tyres, brakes, car prep and accommodation.
