Yeah Mick did my bonnet and he is also currently fixing my WRX from when the truck driver forgot to stop.....
-
He also says the DB9 is great but its rubbish (to drive anyways. Beautiful to look at but very ordinary dynamics for a car of that value). So have a good laugh at JC but don't always listen to his advice on cars....

It needs to be slightly lower....

Everyone in Australia could vote yes on that poll and it won't mean jack. It's going to come down to $$$ and in the end we are going to lose it unfotunately.

The big difference is however is tht a club track day is about half the price of a training day so if you plan on going to the track more than once it quickly pays for itself to go the club route. If it is just a once off fun thing then the training days are probably the better option.

It's not available for complience. There is a whole thread on this car here - http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...mo-t218311.html

Calder - Sat 5 July - Club Cship Rnd 5 - Cancelled
Snowman replied to Bec's topic in Archived Events
Ferni just needs to toughen up I can't make Calder as the car will be on it's way to Perth. Bummer too since Jack and Aaron won't be around (Superlap) so it would have been a good chance for some more points! -
Geebuz - the lack of input into this thread means everyone on here must be a Holden fan! I personally thought it was a very entertaining weekend of racing - especially race 2. Sandown is so dodgy in the wet especially turn 2 which if you ever drive there is such a nothing corner. But in the wet it just catches you out so often. And 1.09's is DAMN quick especially given I don't think the track is at its best currently and the weather sure wasn't condusive to fast times I didnt think. It will be interesting to see if any of the other long standing records fall this year. Bathurst maybe?? Also the championship is panning out to be an interesting one. Really looks like its down to 4 drivers now and they are all from different teams with 2 Fords and 2 Holdens. Can't ask for better parity than that really.

There isn't a massive difference between a 4.3 and a 4.11 - I'd be leaving it where it is given the big snail on the side.

Oh - and who wears helemts on a skidpan. I mean really??

1.48's @ PI isn't Carrera Cup speeds - hell it isn't even Street GT-R speeds! Bring him to DECA and we'll teach him some lessons. http://www.pcv.com.au/PorscheClubs/pc_vict...File/0803pi.pdf (1.39.7 by the open class dude is moving however!)

Jeebuz John I remember looking seriously at buying your old Blue R34 GTR back in 2003 (someone actually beat me to it as I was really keen). It sure has taken you long enough to find corners!!
-
Yep a chick here at work has one. I like them. But then I obviously have a thing for WRX Hatches
-
I remember there was a guy who used to float around here that wanted to put a full R32 GTR engine / drivetrain into an AC Cobra shell. That would have been wild.

The ring is such an interesting one. The guy that runs this company (Theo) - http://www.rent-racecar.de/gb/ - is a guy who I met and races Porkas around this track and he took me for a hot lap around the track and I damn near pooed my pants (and that would have been about a 9 min lap)! Now one of the things I found interesting was that he said he has done over 4,000 laps of the ring and yet he says he still learns something new everytime he goes out there. But then he knew it bloody well in my eyes. Now I only did 5 laps and only 2 of those were in the dry but what I did learn about the place in real life (compared to playstation laps) is a lot of it flows predictably and yet those "interesting" and difficult spots were the ones you very quickly remember for the next time you went around. So I actually reckon within 1 day you could have the track fairly well nutted and Theo agrees with me. That said I just can't imagine what doing a 7.29s lap must be like. It is so ridiculously fast. To do that time it means the average speed was around 166km/hr. Now that is close to what the V8 Supercars average at Phillip Island which is the fastest track in Australia (Hell its the fastest average speed track on the MotoGP calander. But the V8 Lap record for PI is an avergae speed of 171km/r. For Eastern Creek its 157km/hr) The video footage doesn't do the average speed of that place justice and 99% of the corners are blind and the track is bumpy and not overly wide. AND - there is bugger all in the way of run-off around that place if you get it wrong so complete commitment is tough. And then also consider that the rise and fall of this track is over 300m and surrounded by forrests with shadows everywhere, so you can be sure that on any given lap there will be differing levels of grip at different sections of the track. The point to all this being that even someone with 10,000+ laps under their belt I don't think is ever going to do a PERFECT lap around that place - but that anyone has done 7.29 is just..... mindblowing!

Fatz should definitely enter - I have pics from a different time attack comp where fatz was so confident about winning he decided to do it using reverse to give others a chance.

There's no substitute for kw's at Sandown.
-
So what you are effectively saying is that compared to your last visit to Sandown your braking longitudinal G's are down and your cornering lateral G's are also down - but yet you managed to set a new PB for Sandown! That's a fair effort
-
Interesting stuff Andrew. I notice your top speed was about 9km/hr down on my recorded top speed (235km/hr). But my top speed was about 10km/hr down on where it usually is which makes sense based upon where my shift points on the back straight were on Sunday. But the thing I'm finding most interesting is you saying the braking forces were up from the past. I know I was having to brake into turn 1 at around the 200m mark where normally I brake from around the 170 mark so I was finding braking distances were heaps longer than usual (turn 2 was another I regularly struggled to pull up in time for all day long).

lol - I know I was having trouble keeping awake during your speach but I didnt know I was that bad!
-
Good work on setting a PB on that track yesterday - the grip was rubbish!
-
125 race was awesome.

Yeah I'd like to thank Archie for reminding me I'm still alive. There's nothing quite like going through the kink backwards at 150km/hr to point it out to ones self. Anyways - I'm stoked. Sure the track was mega slow. Sure I'm disappointed that my 1.18.6 objective wasn't met. But for the 1st time in 3 years I've gone to a track day and done all the sessions - including all the flying laps in each session (except for said backwards spin session where I needed to come off to thank god) - and I've not encountered any signs of temp issues or other mechanical problems of any description. And the happiness I'm feeling about that far outways any disappointment in lap times (plus I beat Aaron for the 1st time in years which makes up for him beating my Nurburgring time!)

Howdy Sandgroupers, I'm coming over to W.A. with my GT-R at the end of July for the Dutton Rally of W.A (July 25-27). Unfortunately the transport rules doesn't allow us to keep anything in the cars when we ship them so I can't bring any spares or parts or anything. Most of it I am ok to bring across myself when I fly over but my biggest issue is a spare set of wheels / tyres. My plan is to ship the car across on my back-up tyres (as I'm going to visit Barbagallo the weekend before Dutton for a shakedown) and then buy some new tyres over there the week leading up to Dutton. What I'm hoping is that someone out there can lend me a set of rims sized from 18x9.0 to 18x10.5 for the event (they might have to be rays rims as well as I know the internal diameter of the standard R34 GTR rims doen't fit over my 375mm brakes!). There is a 99.99% chance I won't even need to use these rims however. Basically they will just be with me as a back-up in the event I get a puncture until I can get the offical tyre repaired. As a form of payment to anyone that lends me some rims I will give them the back-up 265/35/18 RE55's that I'll put onto the rims to keep once I head back to Vic. Let me know if anyone can help an SAUer out. Cheers Snowy
