  1. We'll you can't just say it's Nissan. Think of the NSX, EVO and STi's as well.... But it was funny because he was doing the big talk on the microphone saying "Well we don't know the specs of the Aussie car - but the Japanese version does 0-100 in 3.6s, Nurburgring in blah blah blah". It was almost like he was trying to slip the 1st sentence in un-noticed. lol It was one of the main reasons I went and had a chat to him!
  2. I went to the MMS last night and they had some guy from Syd down to do a regular "talk"about the GT-R during the night. Some of the things he was announcing however came as a bit of a suprise so I had a further chat to him and got some more infomation. Some of the key points he told me were: 1. Nissan have had to reconsider their pricing structures and it's now confirmed that the GT-R will be retailing for between $120-150K. Final pricing details will be revealed later in the year at the Sydney Motorshow. 2. It is unlikely we will be getting the complete Japanese spec however. I'd heard rumours of things like brake downgrades and de-tuned engines but he either didn't know or wouldn't say anything other than "we don't know the final specification details on the Australian delivered cars yet" Again - Sydney Motorshow for those. 3. Cars will start to arrive in the 1st 1/4 of 2009. At this stage however it still isn't known if it will be under high or low volume imports. They have applied for high volume but they don't know if they are going to be allocated more than the low volume numbers simply due to world wide demands. Basically it was indicated that we are lucky to be getting any at all at this stage. 4. I think this was already known but the major Capital cities are being given 2 locations only for buying the GT-R's. In Melbourne for anyone that is interested Blackburn "will most likely be one of those locations". Not sure of the second one however. That was all of the key points. And boy is it a good looking car in the flesh.
  3. Shame you ain't looking for a driver Ben I don't know how you co-drivers do it as I sure couldn't. I have full respect for anyone who can sit in the passenger seat and not crap their pants.
  4. Oops - my fault. I'll fix it
  5. No one has said it yet but nice work on the tea towels pete - they look tops. Oh - and for who ever asked I didn't put my car on the dyno. But I had just picked it up from Racepace where it had made around 380 or something which I guess would equate to around 204 on Rays dyno.
  6. Na Ben a quick off/on resets it and you should only see the problem when you first start moving. (well I do). I've actually had 2 seperate issues cause it that have been traced and repaired but both times before the problem was found I've had to do the key trick. One was a faulty wheel sensor and the other was a weird voltage drop in the TPS.
  7. Both Aaron and I have had this problem as well mate (Both R34 GT-R's) and currently all we do is very quickly turn the car off and back on again whilst trying to drive fast (it resets after doing that). It's a new skill we have aquired
  8. And just remember guys - There can be only one!
  9. Um.... any fantasies or dreams you have don't count as a reason.
  10. I didn't! I put in both of these - hardly hot sports cars (but still hot!)
  11. Yeah but I did that because I felt sorry for them as they were the only parts on the car you hadn't bent already.....
  12. Pfft - if your wheels were on propperly and you hadn't stuffed with the car a day before the event things might have been much different
  13. You can legally wear a harness on the street! You just have to wear your normal seat-belt as well. Personally I always just wear the harness on the street because it fits me better in the race-seats than what the standard seat-belt does.
  14. PS - remember to join the fanclub http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=10579589594
  15. I hate Snowy because he always sleeps with my wife.
  16. I think one of the problems is Ni that the P1 cars often end up racking up 50,000km's in 6 months and they are usually HARD km's - so I guess many of these classics just aren't up to that kind of abuse. They probably need something new they can buy and belt around for a few months and then flog off (hence the high car turn over).
  17. I'd whinge too. The A3 is better afterall (I'm never going to stop bagging that car!)
  18. Here you go - I made this for everyone to express themselves http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=10579589594
  19. I'm out. I have to drive around this 20km stretch of twisty road in Germany in a BMW racecar instead
  20. Veyron
  21. James just spotted something else very cool that is going to be there as well. He'll be sure to post it up in his super spotted thread when he gets back.
  22. Yeah and thinking on it further - your clients have shown they can't even drive something as easy as a 997T, R8 or F360 without crashing it so the GT2 would only last a week before being destroyed.
  23. Surely the widowmaker is a given. Actually I should have added one of the 3 8C's coming into the country. Good luck getting one of them though.
  24. James - it would help if you listed a couple of simple rules. Like an upper price limit as we both know you aren't getting a 599 or a Murcielago as they are too expensive which is the same as somehting like a Zonda. So perhaps say cars in Oz under $500K My 10. 1. 997 GT2 2. 997 GT3 3. Maserati Gran Tourismo 4. Maserati Quatraporte 5. Ferrari 430 6. Lambo Gallardo Rag 7. E92 M3 8. E63 AMG Estate 9. Shelby GT500 10. R35 GTR Note - there's no bloody Astons I also left the R8 out since I never seem to get a chance to drive it anyways.....
  25. You know I have both my GT-R and a WRX (MY03 Hatch) which is my daily. And the WRX is nice but for me it just doesn't feel like a car I want to modify. And in many ways thats a good thing. The only thing I've ever thought of doing was chucking some handling mods at it but even then I've resisted and so after owning it for over 4 years it's still 100% stock. But it does the trick as its nice to drive every day but it is still ok fun if I decide to give it a bit. However - its much easier for me as if I do want a real lot of fun I've always got the GT-R to jump into. But I do think they are almost a better car left standard.
