  1. Because they have a UTQG rating of 140 which is around the same as a Falken RT615 and the Ferderal 595RS. So good but not great. Its not in the same league as the Pilot Sport Cups or Corsa's which are around the 60-80 mark (or even the full R semi-comps which are around 40).
  2. It would be even funnier if I then editted it into one of Ash's posts
  3. Maybe I should do what I was going to do once last year and put the entry form up in a random post somewhere on the forums and just say that entry's are up but you have to find them
  4. When the entries to the normal ones open for May fill out the form and fax it in before it's sold out. There is no special requirements for our normal DECA days. Anyone can attend.
  5. Its was ferni's car - not Scotsmans and I don't think ferni has ever had an accident that I'm aware of.
  6. I definitely poo'ed my pants a little. The good news was that the powder stuff masked the smell of it. The fact that you have to deactive airbags for rallies makes me think mine should definitely go too.
  7. Farken airbags are more dangerous than your car and Mavric combined!
  8. How many people keep their airbags in their cars for motorsport? Has anyone else heard of them going off for no apparent reason? The reason I ask is that I was up at DECA on the skidpan on the weekend and the airbag in the car I was driving deployed for no apparent reason (I didnt hit a cone - I was pretty much driving straight but was only travelling around 40km/hr max). Its got me thinking how bad that would have been if it had been in a high speed section of a racetrack rather than in the middle of a concrete skidpan doing low speeds because I can tell you I was out of it for a few seconds after it happnened (was in an R33 GTR). So I'm wondering if I should get rid of mine ASAP?
  9. It's not so much you as it is your car. "Your car is dangerous"
  10. Thats right Alan. The only "important" people are me and Chris and even we haven't decided if we are actually going to compete in this one yet as there is going to be a lot more organisational work needed through-out the day than our usual events. That being said a lot of people are not going to be eligable for this event due to experience and skill levels - especially for this first one as it will be new to us and un-tried. The risk factor will be much higher so people like Leewah will be banned for example But we are looking at the moment of having a rule for entants to have previously done at least 3 DECA days and 2 track days to be eligable which should reduce the potential number of applicants significantly. And Alan - the events we are doing are not hard to remember what to do - but they will need a good level of skill to do them well. You'll need good car control / fast track experience for the back section as there's only going to be 1 chicane on the whole track and our tests showed speeds higher than what we see even at Winton or Wakefield. Plus on the skidpan if you can't do handbrake turns / 180 flicks or have the ability to link slides you'll probably be frustrated rather than having a good time. But it was definitely noticed at the end of last year that many of our regular goers have much improved skills and this day is being aimed towards them to provide the next level of challenge. But it really isn't for beginers.
  11. You all need to forget worrying about the turbo's. They aren't anything special and they aren't the magic behind the results. It's whats been done elsewhere thats the secret to it all.
  12. Some of you may have been wondering what is going on with DECA this year since we usually have run one by now. So here is a quick update on what is planned in 2008 for SAU and DECA. There's going to be a couple of changes. For starters there won't be a DECA championship as such simply because this year we only have plans on running 2 of our normal event days. The 1st one is coming at the start of May and we'll have the 2nd one early November. I expect demand for these events to be high as a consequence so we'll try and give some notice before posting entries to these events. The WRX Club will also be hosting an event in April which I believe should be open entries if you want more than 2 events for the year. However - in July we are looking at running our first ever DECA Masters event. This is going to be a limited numbers event (20 entrants) with strict guidelines on who can enter (past DECA and track experience will be required). But the day is going to be a high skill and high level of difficulty day. There will be full circuit multi lap sprints on the back track, high challenge motokhana's plus a number of exciting new twists on some old DECA favorites. Chris and I have just come back from Shepparton where we have tested the concepts out and it's sure to be cracker of a day so look forwards to more details on this event as the time approaches. Cheers Snowy
  13. The mines ECU won't be helping either. Who knows what that thing has been set up to do.
  14. Ah that date doesn't work for me either. Hopefully someone from Vic can represent though
  15. To make life easier - anyone who gets the Qstarz BT - Q1000 (not sure if it works with the 818) go to this stite http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=196368 Download the BT747_1.39_en_full.zip file Run the Java program - connect the GPS with the COM data etc - then go to the Ctrl Tab and where it says Time (s) put in 0.2 and press set and you now have a 5Hz GPS logger. easy.
  16. I purchased this one yesterday http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...N:IT&ih=024 I used the java software to upgrade it to 5Hz - just tested it out and it works perfectly
  17. Speak to your tuner - he may be able to modify the standard gears so they can be adjusted. Generally if he can that will be your cheapest option and it works perfectly well (thats all I'm using). And yes along with an ECU and exhaust this mod will make a huge difference. Otherwise there is no real differences in the brands so choose the one you think looks prettiest
  18. Haha - that was the bit I knew. (Sorry Gary but it wasn't my place to say exactly what was wrong). I also know what the turbo's are unless he changed them again and they aren't GT-RS (although he did test them I'm pretty sure). The one thing I've found with Ben is you take what you think you know to be right and discard it because he seems to get great results by doing things completely different to everyone else.
  19. Yep its right for GT-R's. Same with the R34's - GTT's started in 98 but no GTRs til 99.
  20. Nice work Gary. I'm pretty sure a lot of that is wrong though. Except for the last bit. But then the only person who really knows is the big fella. Even then I'm not 100% convinced he even remembers what has been done. Because every time he's done something to the car I've returned to find he's pulled it all apart again. LOL
  21. I was under the impression the 34s had a different key location or something and hence couldn't be used?
  22. Saw a black countach on Sunday which looked just like this. The funny thing is how small these things are in real life - especially the rims. 15" rims are tiny by todays standards. Although 12" wide is still massive!
  23. I just bought a cf bonnet too Oh wells.
  24. Hmmm.... you'd better run that past Aaron first as he picks up my account.
