  1. My thing did 276km/hr last time - and it wasn't at full throttle. These R35's sure are slippery things. My best max speed down there in the R34 was 245km/hr. (These are GPS tracked speeds, not "speedo" speeds too).
  2. Well as a rule in all other forms of motorsports I've done the way rules are generally read are: If it doesn't say you can do it, then you can't do it. But I just wonder if the organisers have different ideas of the rules in their heads. Since its only 14 days til the event starts and I still haven't driven my car I'm not overly fussed this year because I've got no chance of being competitive regardless. But it would be nice to have it all clarified once and for all.
  3. Before people get too far along on their high horses for Clubsprint rules - lots of people on here have mentioned the ban on canards, splitters and diffusers but there is no where in the rules where it states these can't be run in Clubsprint. The only thing is states must basically be "stock" from a body perspective are guards, doors, boot lids and roofs. I think the "spirit" of the Clubsprint rules is that those other things are supposed to be banned but no-where does it specifically state this is so. There are a few other vagaries in the rules as well. Interiors for example: Interior • Interior must remain as it came from the factory with the following exceptions • Front seats may be replaced with an approved seats. • Rear seats may be removed. • Carpet may be removed. • Stereo may be removed. • Air conditioning may be removed. • Local modification to interior for fitment of a roll cage is allowed. So where do after market steering wheels fit into this? I'm running an after market wheel and so did check if it was ok and I was told that was fine but reading those rules you wouldn't think so. Maybe all things need is further clarification before people point fingers at ineligible cars.
  4. That sure is a quick time around there. Well done Miles.
  5. So what you are saying is you get them from Top Racing in HK. Cheers.
  6. Where do you get the A005's from? Aren't they like $11ty each?
  7. In all seriousness if this is the car and it can run a 39 in this guise on street rubber then all kudos to them. It will be one of the many things I'm looking forwards to seeing in a few weeks time.
  8. Cool - if the rules are more just guidelines then I'm running slicks Actually it's kinda disappointing - only because the crash I had earlier this year has left me with a dented / poked roof, so I was going to put a CF wrap over it to a) try and hide the dents and b) cause a shit stir about having a CF roof!
  9. As I said I'll be impressed if it happens. Effectively the only aero allowed under club rules is a big wing so it means most of this time has to come from a combo of good grunt and exceptional pedal skills rather than from some computer generated design that maximizes potential grip. Anyone have a picture of this EVO?
  10. I'll be mega impressed given the lack of freedoms in aero, weight saving and tyres if that comes to pass.
  11. Matt - the WRX Club have NO control over the sound people. That is done by the track management. And the CofC MUST follow the directtion of track management. It would have been the same no matter who was running the day. Same thing is common at Sandown unfortunately. A bunch of cars got booted at the John Mott track day at Sandown a few weeks back. They seem to be getting more stringent with noise now. If you want a good day at PI without sound issues then the PIARC days are the ONLY 95dB days that are available. And all of their days are 95dB. Every other club day will be a 75dB day however as they only have a permit to run a certain number of 95dB days per year and full race meets get allocated most of those days.
  12. There's a BP 5mins down the road anyways so fuel is no big concern (unless you are running funny juice!).
  13. Miles came second in Club Sprint @ WTAC last year - a bee's dick behind Marek. But that car is now too far out of Club Sprint regs with all the weight saving he has going on so he was going to run in Open but as I said tyres are still too much of an issue for R35's in Open/Pro so he withdrew. I'm really keen to see what the Cyber R35 does with tyres of the next few years of development because its the biggest issue facing Mark Hansen in QLD because the roll centres etc just aren't working properly running such small diameter wheels. He reckons they really need 19's as a minimum but there just isn't good tyres available in the bigger sizes.
  14. Na - Milies (in the R35) has pulled out from WTAC. He no longer cares as it's too hard to get decent tyres for an R35 for WTAC. He was just on slicks having fun at Sandown until he got booted off for noise (best time was 1.13.4 - MOVING!)
  15. I'm out Will still come down for a look however.
  16. Here's a set blinged up even further! LOL
  17. Hankooks - not Dunlops. And they MUST be fast because they have little flames in the tread.
  18. What about the Hankook R-S3's? They were on the 1st and 2nd placed cars at WTAC Clubsprint class in 2011.
  19. Actually - PI is the easiest track in Vic on brakes so it's less of a concern there. Engine condition (sufficient cooling etc) and front right tyres is what you need to worry about at this place.

  23. Fixing/upgrading the gearbox. E85 has taken the car past the stock internals limits. You can see the clutches were giving up even at 3/4 throttle - until it finally broke something at the end there.
