Geoff - I think you will find this problem in inherint in R34's. Everyone of the R34's I know that gets punted on the track has the same issue (including mine). Oil I think you are a little over worried about. You will need an oil coiler but anything upto 120 is ok. Above that and you'd begin to worry. But with an oil cooler you shouldn't have that issue. Water however is a different problem and one we all seem to suffer from. I have a good radiator, all the ducting in the world and I'm still cracking 100+ before the end of the 2nd lap. I'm begining to think the problem is air flow through the radiator and I believe the issue has to do with the underbody diffusers. It's interesting to note that the Z-Tune has not only the big vented bonnet - but it also has those vented side skirts and also doesn't have the front underbody diffuser (it only has a small front lip about 5cm's in size). It also doesn't suffer from these water temps issues. I'm just in the process of ordering a Z Tune style bonnet and I'll be running some tests including taking the under body stuff off and seeing if I can't get the water temps under control. But there is no doubt I have also damaged my head gasket as well as it has got too hot already so thats not helping but I'm sure for the water, air flow through the radiator is a big problem in the R34's.

Um.... actually it won't. The lowest setting on those controllers is "standard" and all other settings are just increases in FWD bias. Sorry but the only way you are going to make it more RWD biased is to take the front shaft out or avoid accelerating hard in a straight line. Anyways.... Go Saints. -
Yeah but only a moron would put a tripple plate clutch into a car they drove around every day. It's hardly needed - hell twins are hardly needed for the majority of GT-R owners!
-
That Yellow Porka is bad. I think even Age and Mav would agree!

Hey Ben - bugger the hydraulic handbrake - these are your friend http://www.nengun.com/project-mu/sports-inner-shoe I tried the hydraulic route and these work better.

Haha! Nice work Ben. I think the P1 guys are talking about using one of their R8's for Dutton next year as well. (They have 2 - one of each gearbox type). Oh - and speaking to Mossy yesterday it sounds like they are going to go with a "battle" style event like I run at our club DECA days as one of the events next year. That should be some fun. Check this link for a sample of our battles.

Yeah but I made that comment based upon the last time I saw the car which was early 06 at the 1st Autosalon Circuit Battle. Back then it was IMO just a damn fast street car. It's mostly likely a little more hardcore now but I haven't seen it in it's current form to comment. I guess that should have been explained when I said I'd put his car into street class currently. But Marcov's, JFK and Penno's cars I'd say were open class. Actually you could add Newtons new car to that list as well (and none of them are street registered). But I'd say mine, Jacks, Aarons, Franks, Scotsmans and Benno's cars would be street class. (for those that know them all) -

- although my concern here in Oz is exactly how many "Open" Class cars are we going to get if it is just JDM cars. Athough it probably only needs half a dozen of them to be interesting and I can think of 3 "Open" class cars (and I'm putting gaints car into street class currently) -

Who cares! I say this politely as they had a great chance to do this right already. Now I've been invited to attend every one of these events however with the exception of the 1st one (which I attended) I have since been given a whole 3 days notice to attend a mid-week event interstate. Consequently they aren't running a serious event - they are more running an event for NSW guys who can afford to take a day off during the week at short notice. I've had emails and emails with originally Charles Kha and then Mark Pakula from Autosalon explaining to them that I could arrange some Vic cars to their event given some notice but every time they give me less than a week. It's stupid. So I look forwards to the possibility of someone doing it right. -

I agree with Brisby on this one. I know I run a half cage, race seats and a harness and do so soley for safety reasons. There is no performance benifits at all. I really don't see why safety measures make a car a race car. Otherwise I still have all my interior, radio's, etc - hell I even have a fully working dvd player and screen in my car (I bet I'm the only Dutton winner that can claim that! LOL) -
No. It's a whole different permit.

What about the Hoosier Radials? They are DOT approved but they also have a UTQG rating of 0. So are they a road tyre? -

Russ - to chuck in some idea's for the "street class" concept when it comes to tyres - back when I set-up the rules for the SAU Vic club championship we nominated a UTQG rating of 100 and lower to equal R Comps and anything over 100 were classified as street tyres. This meant tyres like the Federal 595RS and Azien RT215 and RT615's were eligable for street class but they were about the best tyres available. But by using a UTQG rating you don't have to worry about tyre lists etc. -
the good news is Panozza is going to buy us all one soon.

Russ - if someone can get the Time Attack off the ground (not like this stupid Autosalon one where they give you 2 days notice to get to Wakefield) I think it would be a great thing and I'd be there along with a bunch of the Vic Racepace cars I'm sure. But my one complaint with the idea is making it JDM only. I don't see any reason for it. Surely the event would draw more interest if there were some nice Euro and local cars thrown into the mix? Plus there's nothing like beating Porka's. Also - if you want to come have play in Vic bugger Winton - come to PI -
Except for the fact that the Mines R35 is currently stock (except for the stickers which gives it 50kw's apparently)
-
Don't ask me how that works but I'm not complaining as it's more of a reward than what I got for winning the Dutton Rally. Maybe I should give up on this racing thing and just make my car look pretty instead
-
Yeah I have to agree about the R Spec tyres / wet weather myth as well. I saw a back to back test this year at Calder which is a REALLY bad place in the wet due to the VHT they use on the drag strip / main straight and Vin Macaro in his STi was around 5s a lap faster on R Spec tyres than he was on good street tyres. And there was no getting heat into them before heading out. Having said that I was on R Spec tyres and felt I had no grip at all and all of us GT-R boys struggled big time..... Beaumont in his EVO (on R Specs) flogged us.

Well done boys. Watching those vids makes me want a faster car Hopefully we'll catch up in 08 sometime somewhere. -
I just washed mine at the local car wash. Cost me a whole $2. But I still reckon I'm a chance to take out my catagory And one of those spicy and one of those Sun-Dried Tomato and Herb snags has my name on it.

I tell you - if Nissan build a track ready street car that comes complete with air jacks they are taking the concept to a whole new level!
-
Matt anything you want to put together is fine. Infact if you have something from past DECA's as well that would be super as the battles this time weren't regularly as close as some previous ones we have done. And not necessarily of me / my car but of any good ones is what I am after.
-
Hey can someone / anyone with video footage and skills please put together a battles only vid for me?
