  1. Hey Russ - what times are you aiming for at QLR on say the National Circuit? It seems the times there are pretty much on par with say a lap time of Sandown - so us Vics have a comparison to look at (look at V8 Super cars they qualify in the 1.10's at both tracks and looking at the Dutton results it seems that cars were doing the same laps times that did both tracks eg Matt Cherry did 1.19's at both). Because it would be interesting for us to know how your times compare to someone like Marcov (R32 GTR) , JFK (R33 GTR) and Benno (R33 GTR). I'm pretty sure Marcov's best time at Sandown with RE55's was a 1.14.9. and the other 2 are I think in the 15's.
  2. ex-Whites R34 is now owned by Dean Grant. It was at Dutton Vic this year and I believe still does a few of the Targa rounds. Beable still has his R34 N1 as well. Mark and Russ (gaint) are building a time attack one as well. Otherwise most are like mine in that they are still street registered but mainly used for club racing / touring rallies. 3. See my corrections above. No differences in computers, engines, turbo's, suspension or gearboxes. Its basically cosmetic difference only (except the brakes which make no sense as they were over rear brake biased to begin with)
  4. The problem is that up until now the media have seen the Dutton as more of a "rich blokes playing with their cars" than a serious motorsport event. It is why apparently a lot of the print media no longer cover the event. So the TV coverage has always been based towards individual cars and drivers - especially those that are event sponsors (Thrifty, Road Sense, Sportsmed.SA, Competition Friction, etc) rather than the event itself. Having recently spoken to Sam and Mossy about the T.V. coverage amoungst other things we got to hear that basically because the Dutton was part of the Car Show coverage this was chanel 9's decision on how they were going to cover it. However they are looking at changing it for next year I know. They are looking at changing the profile of the event as a sport rather than a rich boys weekend away (mostly because now the level of competition has changed compared to when the event first started out) and the T.V. coverage will refelct that. I know the Dutton guys are scared of it turning into a "Speed Week" kinda of coverage which they find boring as hell but I think the plan for 08 is to get the coverage to focus on 2-3 feature events rather than the whole weekend (again too hard to cover 29 events in 30mins) - but they will still need to do "specials" on their sponsors you can be sure of that. But they do understand that us as competitors need to be able to expose our sponsors as well if they want us to be able to continue to come to these events.
  5. Seriously - what did you expect? It's a 30min Commercial TV show - so 20mins max of actual air time. With a field of 100 odd cars divided into that amount of time you could only cover about 12s of each car if that is all you did. But that isn't the object of the show. From the 10 mins I saw today we got more coverage this time than we did in the last one from W.A. where we got basically nothing despite coming 2nd. I can't imagine what more you could expect though given the time allocated to cover a 3 day event with a field of that size.
  6. I don't think either of us will be there Ant.
  7. 49? He should be chasing 47's with what he has now.
  8. Yeah the next DECA is Dec 1st.
  9. For those that don't read the motorsport section of the forums there is a track weekend on down at Phillip Island on October 20-21st being held by PIARC Entry Forms and Sup Req's are here: Click Here Saturday is free practise (non timed unless you bring your own) and free driver training is available if requested. Sunday is a full sprints day. There are a few guys coming from interstate for this event as well including John from Unique Autosports with his Zed. A few people are doing both days so consequently Brisby is organising some accommodation for the weekend. If anyone is keen to come down and stay and have a beer or 2 please post up here. Cheers
  10. It will be quicker than your Brabus thats for sure.
  11. Haven't decided yet. I still haven't bettered my time from my first ever visit there way back in 05 so I might come fix that if the weather looks ok. But it always seems to be raining when we go there however.
  12. Most of the Targa cars I've seen are making around 300-310rwkw's. No idea on torque figures but you would imagine them to be fairly punchy.
  13. Na we probably won't leave until Wed morning Alan since we aint driving Wakefield until Thursday.
  14. You know you guys aren't getting any reserved spots this time (sorry). So you will have to join the mad rush when normal entries open.
  15. Actually Brisby we shouldn't be heading up til about the Wed since we aren't tracking now til the Thurs (unless you were going early to see family or something?) So if you are around I'll come up the hills with you.
  16. Thats not a full updated list Brisby. I haven't bothered updating it for a while as it started to have the same feel as 2006 when the list got upto about 40 people only for about 8 to come.
  17. I used to pay $$11ty for the Castrol SRF and after a while I got over paying that much so I tried the Motul RBF600. I can't say I have noticed any difference between the 2 and can't fault the RBF600 at all. I really don't see why people would pay more for a brake fluid when that stuff does the job perfectly.
  18. Actually its more like 100 - 110rwkw's
  19. Hey Ben - interesting you guys chose to run mediums at Dutton. I've always thought mediums wouldn't last the 3 days on a GT-R. How were they at the end? Ok or totally screwed?
  20. I reckon our cars in their current guise are good for a 1.17. So since I reckon that HP difference is good for about 1.5s down each of the straights and another 1s in total between turns 1-2 and 9-11, that makes a time of 1.21 about right.
  21. Well if we look at PI - in that first year we did a bunch of days down there in a row and with pretty much the standard car (stock turbs, engine, brakes and crappy suspension) I got down to 1.49.3. Now I'm obviously a much better driver now than I was then but how much faster I could go now in that same car I don't know as I was fairly crazy to get those times. And I still don't know of anyone else that has gone sub 1.50 with a car as standard as mine was so I think 47's with that car is asking a bit much. Even Panozza could only get a 1.50 out of his car with the standard set-up. But with the brakes I have now and the suspension I have now I'd think a high 1.47 could be achievable with a stock motor and a few laps because the car has so much more grip than it did back then. But Sandown is harder to answer as I've never been as good there as I have at Phillip Island. But I think Kennedy did a 1.22 there in a damn stock GT-R (stock engine, turbo's, brakes and suspension). And Scotsman did a 1.22 with a few more suspension bits. So I reckon 1.21's is about where the limit is.
  22. I already gave you the keg! Well I had a keg and we couldn't tap it so I swapped it with 5 slabs of beer and brought them up to Shep for you! It filled 3 fridges!
  23. So apparently it's reported that Alonso is going to Ferrari in 08 for $40mil and Massa is going to Toyota. Alonso and Ferrari seem a good pairing. And I can't wait for the relationship between him and Kimi - they'll be sure to be best mates. Still no word on who will take Alonso's spot at Mac though.
  24. Yeah I've driven a 997 GT3 and it was just awesome. (hard through some twistes) Always thought Porka's were a bit overated until I drove that car. I'd have one in a heart beat.
  25. I personally think you are just making excuses for not being able to run a 49.
