  1. we had to moddify a R33 tailshaft into an R34 one. I didnt do it so I don't know the full story I just know the tail shaft is part of each one now. I know the standard tailshafts were the wrong length which is why the mods had to be done.
  2. Improved my Winton time to 1.34.3 on the weekend. Still got a bit to catch Jack and Aaron though.
  3. The gearing in the R34 6 speed is too short in 1st for the cone stuff at the Dutton Rallies. But more than that the whole gearbox in the R33 is much nicer to use than the 6 speed getrag. The R34 has that stupid 3.54 diff which was designed to give some rediculous top speed that will never be used but it also meant that even though the car had 6 gears there was "gaps" in the rev ranges at some tracks. The R33 gearbox / diff combination is just much better all round. I also have taken out the V spec diff and put in a non-v spec mechanical which has been tightened up. Much nicer than the V spec diffs especially on the skidpans.
  4. Right - I feel I can put my car in here now even though it is still street registered. 1999 R34 GT-R V Spec. The whole focus of the cars build has been towards winning the Dutton Rallies. And finally on the weekend we were able to win Dutton Vic Car has a built 2.6L with twin 2860-5's. Tein RS suspension, complete R33 drivetrain, half cage with side intrusion bars and a bunch of other goodies.
  5. Hey Ben - thanks mate. Pretty damn stoked to win it. The GT-R was a rocket all weekend so it made it pretty easy. Top work on your part too taking out the Rookie award. They are a lot of fun the Duttons which is why I always like going back.
  6. Alright - I'm half back from the dead. I still don't have a voice but I don't need one to type What a super weekend. I still can't fully believe we won the Dutton Rally. When I did my first one back in 2004 the people up at the pointy end were awe inspiring to me. And even though last year Chris and I came a very resepectable 6th outright we both knew we were still a long way off 1st. So yeah - wow! There's a bunch of people that are responsible for this result though that I'd like to thank. Firstly a guy who really donesn't need any more smoke blown up his ass - but Benno and the boys from Racepace have given me the best car for the job. I know he likes to build his fast track cars and he thinks some of this dinky stuff me and chris like to do is wasted on GT-R's but he knew what I wanted and has given me the ultimate rocketship for the job. It meant all we had to do was not make a mistake and the car pretty much did the rest. My little mate Scotsman for the great job on painting the rims. The car certainly looked cool with the new shoes even if it will be going back to bronze shortly. But also thanks for being the main person that has brought me to this level of driver. We've had a lot of fun running DECA's and doing track days and have always pushed each other from the start to get faster and faster. Your day at the top of one of these is just a matter of time. My sponsors Austech Wire and Cable and Vinidex for helping to pay the bills. SAU for being without question the coolest car club in Vic. These events are even more fun now given the crew we have along and the fun attitude everyone brings. I know Blaise and I were certainly able to keep our heads together with the support of everyone over the weekend. Special thanks need to go to Bec and Rachael for driving the support wagon around for us all weekend too. Finally to my co-driver Blaise. You drove like a gun mate. Your results meant I just had to concentrate on not making mistakes rather than trying to drive real fast. Your a talent and I'm glad your on my team But it was a top effort from TEAM SAU all round - including Marlin who did a bloody brilliant job in the White R34 given it was his first Dutton and given he's used to sitting mainly in the passenger seat rather than the drivers seat. Anyways - nearly time for me to go back to bed. See you all soon.
  7. Hey guys, Thanks for all the support. I was struggling all weekend with this flu and it finally got the better of me yesterday afternoon and now today I am totally dead. I'm off to the doctors shortly then will try and get back on and say a few more things. But until then I'll just leave you with this - THE GT-R IS KING!
  8. We're good to go See you all over the weekend.

Good results Friesy and Big Bird. Keep it together like that over 3 days this weekend and handicap honours will be looking good. Looks like the dragon is as good as it can be for the weekend too. Now just to shake this cold!

    Deca Wrap Up

If you didnt hit that cone at the end Daz I reckon you would have come close to causing an upset. You were very consistant all day long from what I could see.

    That's very cool.
  23. I'm am well and truely pumped for this now. The old blue girl performed exceptionally well on the weekend and consequently we started to see some cracks appear in Team Junior Burgers as they felt the pressure build. But if the weather holds Team DarkSnow is looking ok right now (although the Darkside of the team did crash his EVO into a wall yesterday which scares me!)
