  1. yes that's what it means. gives the unique zzzzutututu 'pigeon in your air intake' sort of sound. admittedly i like the noise and the subculture, but at the end of the day it makes the car run poorly (see my post above) and who knows what sort of internal damage it's doing.
  2. BOV = pop off valve. Blocking off the BOV (or pop off valve whatever you wish to call it) has the potential to sound sweet (to some people) but it is there that the benefits end. i tried it on my 33 gtst and it ran sh1t, stalling and bogging down when gear shifting. on top of that the airbox/afm/etc muffled the dose so i could hardly hear it. if you want to dose... get a VL. don't butcher your skyline like that. btw this advice is coming to you from a (former) die-hard dose fan, should give you an idea of how badly youll soon dislike it. Cheers Ric
  3. dw man ill be right... i dont dose cop cars like you used to if i do get caught ive still got the trusty VP to fall back on hahah
  4. MANUAL FTW!!! i used to have an auto commodore, and i sucked at manuals, had never really driven one till i got my r33. a month and a bit later and it's second nature to me. the torquey RB makes it piss easy to drive (was learning on my old man's prelude, zero torque and tiny flywheel = very easy to stall). the only other manual car ive driven is my mates celica, and the skyline is by far the easiest to drive, there's a fair bit of margin for error when it comes to taking off, and if you take a corner in the wrong gear i find you can just boost your way out of it and it's never such a big issue. whilst manual transmissions really are outdated technology (look at Audi's DSG gearbox for example, talk about instantaneous gear changes!), the resale value and the hero factor associated with driving a manual, particularly a skyline, make it hard to pass up. just my 2c. Ric
  5. hi I'm Ric and i used to own a commonwhore. (There i said it, what a relief) case in point, the other day i was at the carwash, drying off my r33 next to another P-plater in a red vs commy. this thing was DUMPED, on stock hubcaps and the paint was mint, must have been resprayed. anyway as i had a bit of a soft spot for old commodores, i had a bit of a glance or two at his car. then when the guy left, i put my head down and kept drying my car, he then proceeds to exit the carwash sideways, looking over at me for some form of recognition. i just turned my head in shame at this knob, getting sideways with incomin IMO i think it's true that most hoon drivers have commodores, irrespective of the proportion of p-platers that have them etc. those few people who drive commodores sensibly can bitch and moan all they like about being unfairly targeted, but at the end of the day the stats don't lie.
  6. haha too right Mark, i pulled 12L/100km the other day was pretty impressed!!
  7. cheers for that guys, i might have to give them a call. Ric
  8. amen to that... but what can we do. i haven't been pulled over in about 7 months (including 1 month in a skyline) so i just hope my run of luck continues! thanks for the advice

  11. hi all i have recently picked up my r33 and im keen to start on a sound system. first to go is the standard head unit, im just wondering if there is anyone in melbourne who does professional installs? im not keen to have a go myself, scared im going to wreck something!! so yeah, if anyone accepts cash/slabs of beer to do a decent job id be more than wiling to pay up! kinda sick of young idiot apprentices at strathfield/autobarn etc!! (apologies if any of you are one i just want this done properly and without hassles) cheers Ric
  12. i put up my green Ps today, and couldn't see them AT ALL through the back window... ill probably leave it that way, i reckon with a big green P plate on the back of a skyline ill be more likely to get pulled over. until then ill just quietly slip through the cracks muahaha
  13. haha at least i have a full head of hair, unlike the guy in the ferrari! if i went bald id probably splash $100k+ on a car too hehe

  15. followed a yellow f355 home today, past shoppo and all along williamsons road in doncaster for those who know the area, he wouldnt look at me despite driving next to him, but all of a sudden he PLANTED it down this long straight hill, i was giddy with excitement the whole way home! that thing absolutely howled, drove past him as he turned off and we both had a bit of a laugh, boy did that thing make my r33 look like it was going backwards!! ps. i would upload a pic i took but nokia is just shit, can't connect the phone to my laptop
  16. mate you'll be surprised how far a well-written letter will get you, not sure about the p-plates issue but i reckon if you carefully explain your circumstances they may let you off with a warning about running the amber light. btw i think the guy above was asking whether you had goods in the back of your truck making it heavier and harder to stop, hence the 'laden?'.. hope this helps and good luck Ric
