  1. A few years back there was an SDU NZ member (Darren25 or something similar??) who supercharged his 33 NA - it went well they say. maybe search for some old info on sdu.
  2. factory turbo, cooler, intake and bov, exhaust manifold. GTSLink ecu. Standard NA injectors. an instant 30% more peak power and lots more pull especially midrange. I'm actually about to get another 25t engine/box very soon. Thats definately the way to go i think if you guys are serious. More power more easily. It will surely be interesting when i disect the N/A engine and see what damage, if there is any. When you think about what it costs to buy all the parts and ecu etc to do the conversion, the same money will buy you a 25t engine/box/factory ecu no tuning etc required. Plus you could sell off some of your NA bits head etc - starts getting even cheaper. I personally dont think the brakes need doing but if you can upgrade them cheaply go for it. Apparently the same brakes are still used on a neo 25t stagea.
  3. are you handy with a soldering iron? A few guys have fixed their AFMs by resoldering the usually broken solder tracks on the board inside the AFM. If you are positive your afm is buggered, you've got nothing to lose by trying to fix it yourself.
  4. my car has been running just under 6psi for 60,000ks with no probs. Although the clutch is getting a little dodgy now. if you already have an aftermarket tunable ecu - i say go for it. If i had a 33 GTS4 i would have no hesitation in doing it.
  5. only pay about 100 - 150 IMO The RB25DE AFM is all good too. Works on both.
  6. Tricky but fun.... does good wheelstands http://games.tucows.internode.on.net/files...s2/xmbrnt10.exe
  7. i think the knock sensor is a factory peizo microphone type thingy that measures DB levels. I assume the PFC is similar to a Link in that you can set the knock sensitivity level, and anything over this level gets registered so you can monitor any bad stuff that you couldnt normally hear when your "up it". I'm not sure if "knocking" and "pinging" are the same thing. Maybe someone else could expand a bit more for us all.
  8. my NA R33 started life with a factory 4.3 lsd but it developed a bad whine. The only replacement i could find was an R33 turbo lsd diff (4.11) (How's ya nuts slip?) Rpm seems approx 100-200 lower now at the same speed (according to the speedo which is no doubt now out from the swap also)
  9. when the time comes, buy a neo 25det and 5spd gearbox incl standard ecu. you can extract more power more easily. and most likely cheaper. I was lucky enough to get the conversion parts cheap enough so i turboed my 25de and its still goin fine - although my clutch is giving up the gig after 60,000kms of extra torque it was never meant to see.
  10. my original diff did that - at 80kph it would whine like an old mole at a picnic. over 110kph it went quiet again. I'm almost certain crap diff oil caused mine to whine. Ended up replacing the diff in the end. A good oil (redline?) might fix it, depending on how noisy it is. Worth a shot.
  11. :whackit: I love it when that happens, those little chick cars and their drivers are always good for a big old belly-laugh
  12. a link will do it.... i assume most others also.
  13. Bumpage...
  14. damn thats nice... btw... whats the font used on a gtr badge?
  15. yeah i could be chasing one very soon - pic us up!
  16. take a couple of deep breathes and try again... this time in english
  17. get the original from nissan - they are usually just under $100 when i got mine, i bought it from gold coast nissan (qld) they will overnight you one if you have troubles finding one locally.
  18. which conversion are you talking about?
  19. would an r33 turbo bolt straight on to it?
  20. sorry to sidetrack... does anyone remember the site had indepth specs/options for lots of different jap cars. the url was something like japimport.com or something similar?
  21. you are right... its not much, but it is free after all.
  22. I'm currently shopping for an 25det/5spd for a transplant. Should make things a bit more fun, plus then i can stop worrying about IF/when my motor will spit the chewy Although there are no signs of it throwing a leg out of bed yet. let me know if you hear of a good deal for an 25det/box combo or a front cut
  23. I have been meaning to ask this for a while... The R33 GTS25 manual specs say 190hp The R33 GTS25 Type S manual specs say 200hp Does anyone know how the extra 10hp is found? A lot of ppl say the RB25DE doesnt have VCT. Mine (type s) does. Could this be the 10hp gain? any ideas?
  24. Good thinking K Actually, i remember once with my car on a dyno the hicas light was coming on. after a few goes of the operator getting in and out of the drivers seat, the steering had been turned a considerable amount. hicas kicks in at approx 80+kmh and tries to turn the rear steering, which of coarse it cant do cause the rear wheels are wedged into the rollers. dont know if this could break anything, but worth consideration.
  25. tell me more about what the price includes... afm, cooler etc?
