  1. Cut a big hole into the top of the airbox lid mate, it will sound nuts and go alot better. hmmmm induction noises.
  2. 260kmh dash cluster?? I want one!!! also i want a decent front bar, rear spoiler and jap taillights, and jap projecter headlights and bigger brakes and other stuff too.
  3. I dont know why you would be getting a flatspot, maybe ignition? have you checked the timing?
  4. The ATF trick comes from a qualified mechanic, he says its as good as injection cleaner and works even better if they are real dirty. Ive done it on my car with no problems. If you want just use injection cleaner, ive done both. All ATF does other then cleaning all the shit is lubricate everything

  8. The best ive ever got from my R30 was something over 400kms out of a full tank. Prettymuch i trash it everywhere, so i dont think thats too bad. Things that i have done are, new plugs, leads, rotor button and distributor cap. Other things that will help are cleaning the injectors (one of the best things is to put a bout 250mls of Auto-Trans fluid in the tank next time you fill it up), between doing this and replacing the fuel filter it will make a big diference. The other thing that everyone with a L24E in a R30 should do is to cut the airbox. I removed the shitty restrictive cold air feed piece of crap and cut a big hole in the top of the airbox, ill post pics soon. This made a big diference in power, its much quicker, revs smoother and sounds totaly nuts. I couldnt beleive the diference it made. with the standard exhaust still in place i (Quiet out the back) i have had people ask me if its a V8, others are convinced there is a hole in my exhaust! dickheads. seriously try going for a drive, just take the airbox lid off and go for a quik spin, youll know what im talking about.
  9. Not really what you asked about, but i was also looking into suspension options for my R30. In adelaide at the Zoom 4,6&Rotatry Nationals i talked to a guy from either Adelaide Jap or JMS, cant remember. He told me that there are two diferent sizes of struts for the Japanese R31 Skyline (Two diferent bolt spacing on the lower mounting point depending on year model), one of these is the same as R30, making it a bolt on fit. He had a full strut kit coming in the next week and said i could have them for $250. unfortunatly i didnt get back in touch with him, because i didnt ask what shop he was from and it was the day after i brought my car, so i was short on cash. Anyway ive talked to a few importers since and they said that parts like that for R30-R31s in Japan are almost imposible to find nowdays. Just another option anyway. Cheers, Mick.
  10. I got an Avanti Manic, then got disc brakes put on, its sweet. Im not sure what i would offer. R32 RB20DET Manual halfcuts are between $2000-$2500, so i spose sonmething under $2000? Really i have no idea. Best bet would be someone with a 240-260z or something, they might have more trouble complying a turbo motor, yours would be better for them, simple swap, no complience issues. Maybe try one of the datsun sites, i think ozdat might have a classifieds section. good luck.
  11. I would love to make an offer on the lot, but i just spent $2000 grand on a pushie, im now back into mountainbike riding. Now i think i would have had more fun in my car if i spent the money on that, so im really pissed off. plus i live in SA, so i couldnt really get it anyway. Keep us up to date with the conversion, im thinking of doing the same when i have some cash.
  12. Do you know anyone that has done this? Im thinking that i would need the RB30 trans aswell, is this a bolt in fit? Im thinking that if its a simple swap ill consider doing it, just got to find a wreck or something.
  13. Yeah induction noise, still got a standard exhaust, but now at least from the front it sounds nuts. Exhaust next.
  14. I was origianly planning on a RB20DET and 5 spd manual from a R32, had a price on a half cut at between $2000 and $2500. Didnt have much info on it, and brought a new mountain bike instead, now i have no cash saved up, so an RB20 is a long way off. The reason i thaught RB30 is that i can get one real cheap, but im not sure if it would be worth the bother, or money. The main advantage is that when i could afford a RB20DET it would bolt straight in as i would already have the conversion done.
  15. The only mod to my MR30 is a big hole cut in the airbox lid, goes alot harder and sounds sweet (Hmmmm induction noises). Where can i get a L20 Turbo? I hear the head bolts straight on to the L24 and the computer is a straight swap, making a L24 Turbo.

Hey all, i own a 1984 Skyline Ti L24E (Auto) The only mods so far are that i have cut a big hole (pretty much the entire nissan logo bit cut out) in the airbox lid, this made a noticable diference to power, and it sounds nuts, i recomend anyone else with this car does this mod. Anyway, my problem is that when trying to see how fast it would go, it wouldnt shift into fourth, got up to almost 200 in third, (crazy revs!!). It shifts into fourth when i back off, but if i try to accelerate it drops back to third. Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas or sugestions would be apreciated. Also, ive been told that an RB series motor is a direct bolt in, if i use an R31 crossmember. Is it that simple, will the RB motor bolt up to my gearbox, could i use a manual gearbox from a R31 Skyline or VL Commadore. How much more power does a RB30 motor have over my L24E, cause the other day a dragged a manual R31 Sihloutte skyline and kicked his arse. Any help aprecieted, can we get a forrum just for R30s?
