  1. a crank angle sensor will not make you not get boost recheck those things above.... the IC was moved accross.. something had to give to allow it to move ...
  2. was the fan spinning while this noise was being made and the engine off???
  3. do you have the same mods as the car it came off? do you use the same fuel it was tuned for? do you know the answers to these questions ?? if any answer = no then dont get it
  4. motor hasn't been out, only ever head off.. have been looking into making my own earth kit for it all.... just a matter of free time which i dont have much of only earth i know to be missing is the one the the turbo manifold.. which has been gone for years
  5. yeah will have a look, but no the starter turns the car over fine, just a momentary drop of power to the PFC this is reduced further when jump starting the car.. can even get that bad if the battery is low that the car turns over but the lights never come on and it wont start .. one day i'll find it
  6. hmm its more ECU related than started motor ... the dash lights go out when cranking then comeback on then the car starts turning off the pumps just reduce the time the lights turn off for.. strange issue and i havent had time to play around with the currents that are being drawn when doing the above.
  7. depending on what you need the motor for, the cometic metal gaskets are really a good option and usually cheaper than the std nissan composite gaskets i got mine retail for $330 about a year ago, in sydney.. cant say any local people in Melb but this should give you an idea lots of people use them and reccomend them.
  8. checked all under dash fuses? has caused some issues in the R33's
  9. around 600 - 620
  10. isnt the formula for a 6 cyl 1cc=1hp so around 700BHP
  11. would you think silicon would work as well? where abouts did you get the fine mesh from? might see if there are any issues and try it out if there are.
  12. i have a Q45 im about to install, unfortunately someone removed the rear screen ... seems likely according to said article in HPi, that the rear screen would dampen the affects of reversion on the AFM.. while the front screen would be doing what everyone believes and regulates the airflow into the AFM...
  13. as long as it is higher than the pump you will be fine ... silvergtst has moved his to where the std air box was on an angle... seems to be working fine for him
  14. where does it say that? quote from HPI - page 107 picture 9 - "airflow meters that have been 'de-screened', such as this VG30 unit, are often more prine to pulse problems due to their large cross-sectional surface area" page 108 picture 11 - "you can see how much surface area of the airflow meter inlet the wire gauze takes up. Adding an extra "screen" then reduces the inlet size to the engine dramatically, and costs you power in the prcess. Don't do it!"
  15. hard to say without a picture, info on what you have where in the wngine bay... maybe just move it across couple of inches to keep the std lines.. depends on where the turbo sits, you might not even need to move it .. i didn't with my high mount setup
  16. std specs show R33 GTST as 14.2 1/4 mile so yeah, get some good tyres and done.
  17. should be a direct fit
  18. this air goes back into the turbo air feed between the turbo and the AFM without a catch can. that oil that the catch can is collecting goes into your air feed. then into combustion chamber which can actually be a contributing factor to pinging you dont get to a power level then need one.... if you catch can has got oil in it, then your motor has blowby and will need it.... and you should get a comp test done to check its health as excessive blow by is bad!
  19. standard the water lines run with hose clamps... hence saying yes thats fine. OIL use banjo fittings and braided line properly
  20. water you could, wouldn't suggest that for oil, due to teh oil presure values through the hose would cause it to fly off double hose clamp the water lines too
  21. ummm you have worked on the dimmer switch.. the power feed you need is that wire... so find that wire in which you joined to remove the dimmer switch, and T in your power to your guage
  22. exhaust gasket near turbo . manifold to turbo, turbo to exhaust check these first also for lose bolts in this setup.. common issues
  23. howd it go?
  24. put some oil in the the oil feed or return hole, and spin it, if it frees up a little would suggest that there is just no oil on the bearings
  25. thats hsouldn't affect the turbo UNLESS metal from the ring lands got to the bearing core through the filter etc (oil system) but yeah ringlands would make blowby = oil in intake system
