  2. got a good res shot of the base through the chip?? depending on what is under the black paint you could use paint stripper , but without being able to see its hard to suggest that. I'm working on some 1/2pce work meisters and under the black paint is the cast alloy finish which is actually quite neat looking, but any raw alloy will oxidise in the elements.
  3. Tim, you definately need argon for TIG welding alloy and stainless - pita have 2 bottles but you sorta need to
  4. removing the casting marks makes a big difference in those last calipers
  5. i use my skyline garnish as a 3rd brake light, never had any issues in the 6 or so years and numerous defects. 9. Looks like we need to change suppliers if you got it for that price Ben. what are you going to cut it with? best thing for 4/5 inch grinders are alloy blades that look like wood blades - or you can use a regular wood circular saw to cut it out. 13. Well the silver Comp coatings is using is good for 1600oF - they should know well enough that they can use a special primer to raise that threshhold up to 2000oF to match the blacks rating. couple of hints : -clean hands and no oil on the parts before using it for the first time will ensure maximum shine -you can repolish the chrome coating with metal polish, just remember to use methylated spirits to clean off the polish residue before starting the car up again I use the same products that they are listed as a distributer for - Leon if you want some extra info chat me

  16. gtst centres are PA6+PPE plastic - but they hold up fine under 180 degree coating temps One i tested was filthy with old high temp matt black paint - once i find the clean pair that i didnt paint i'll start working out the coating process - thing to overcome with plastic is gas release from the plastic as the coating flows and links on the part

  19. You are right, if you get the primer gun to "spit" and have it start drying before it hits the part you can get a textured finish, then paint over it in your required colour. Custom mixed powders are expensive to get formulated - its not like paint where you can simply mix 5 parts black 2 parts purple etc etc formulation of powder colours requires it to start from the beginning with fresh resins, colours and bonding processes. couple of attached internet pics from one of my suppliers
  20. yep, seats mount hole on the tunnel should be fine

  23. paint isnt really going to affect coolers too much, unless your cooler is already struggling to cool the charge air.
  24. Replacing the buckles bolt with the eye bolt wont resolve that issue for you? and the shoulder pads should really go to the child restraint mounts as the angle of the belt should be as close to horizontal as possible.
