  1. ok it definitely is the front main seal, there is a splatter around the balancer and i don't think the sump is squirting so yeah. so yay i get to pull my belts off and my covers off and my balancer off and my oil pump off and timing belt off and then re do them all
  2. If it didn't have a pull clutch it wouldn't be so bad.
  3. sadly if it is the sump seal the engine would need to come out so yeah thats not gonna happen, i cant handle that nightmare again.
  4. It looks like it might just be the sump seal. Il degrease it all and smear some sealant in and see how It goes.
  5. Oh. I just had the laptop on and matched the timing mark to what the screen said. 15degrees. The mark was moving with the display when it fluctuated so I'm guessing it should be close.
  6. I don't want to pull it all apart again . This is never ending.
  7. Just to add to my awesome. I think my front seal is leaking
  8. Lol. I knew what you meant. Just so you all don't think I'm driving around before it tested. I'm driving my parents camry until I get the results.
  9. Yeah I've got the sample waiting.
  10. ok its back at about half way, on the 3rd line on the harmonic balancer. did a compression test, 191 170 170 170 170 170 , but bear in mind that i had spilled oil and the 1st cyl copped a lil bit of oil that i couldnt get out with my rag, il retest in a week or so after ive done the 1000km. but ive noticed that my pcv seal is broken in half. so i need to find another one of those.
  11. Yeah. I'm gonna make up a test lead and try it again. It doesn't seam right at all. It's running really well at the half way point where the old mark is. I just wanted to check
  12. Ok. Timing. Orange is 0 degrees? Then every mark is 5 degrees? I used the loop at the back of the coil pack loom. My timing was sitting on the 5th mark so 25*btdc? I have adjusted it as far around as I could get it and it starts at 10dgrees and slowly works its way around to about 16/17dgrees. Is this ok?
  13. Yeah I read that thread ad it progressed.
  14. i stood there while they did it. this is rediculous. if my engine fails im gonna be rather annoyed.
  15. the workshop did it
  16. To me it looks like the block wasn't cleaned out properly, after close examination looks like swarf from the rebore
  17. My wife's watching tv so I can't get on the computer. But this shows most of it.
  18. Biggest maybe 3/4-1 mm. Looks like alluminium. Il try to get a pic
  19. Ok just did an oil change. 115km worth of driving There is about 15-20 big pieces of something. And the oil has a generally glittery look. Millions of tiny particles. I've kept an oil sample.
  20. As the title says. Thanks.
  21. As the title says. Thanks.
  22. Bond - yeah I thought that. Sarge - I wanted to avoid pulling that apart before I changed the plugs for the tune. I should hear back from my tuner tonight so il see what e wants to do.
  23. i just wasnt sure if any light could pick up the signal, it just the little loop near the back of the cam covers yeah?
  24. i just did what i read on the net, warmed it up with a high idle, checked for leaks (does have an exhaust leak at the cat to fix but i can do that anytime), then headed for the biggest hills around and loaded it up and down them until i had done 100km (wife needed to wee anyway) and headed for home) im organizing with my tuner now to get it done asap, ive got my parents car to drive anyway so it can just sit and wait until a few more km are put through it. my wife was watching the data logging while we were driving and nothing looked dangerous. it made 1-2psi once or twice up hills. although it feels like my hand brake is on, timing out maybe, the cas is lined up with the old marks so it cant be far off, if at all. other then that, no weird noises or rough running
