  1. I tried to get a long block when I first started pulling the engine out, of the 9places I contacted only 1 had ever had a neo motor but didn't have any coming in for atleast 6 months if at all.
  2. Chocco just stay the f**k out of my threads. No one cares what you have to say, and for christs sake learn to read
  3. yeah, you say he does a good job so its worth contacting him and asking what his thoughts are. in any case il be sending my block a long way for machining so may as well get someone experienced to do it. ive been talking to rips for a few weeks working out some options, just waiting on a price from them. not that im after the cheapest option just the best work for the money.
  4. Also tuning will be done at high power Motorsport at slacks creek.
  5. jet r31 can you please pm me some contact details please. il go to nissan about an oil pump and a set of pistons tomorrow. il give spot on performance a call tommorow, thanks for the info booztjunkey
  6. If you can recommend an engine builder go for it. Il ask my engine builder how many rbs he has built.
  7. I see what your saying. Is there any known rb builders in south east Qld? I really fail to see what businesses are thinking when they don't have web sites. I wonder if rips will rebuild my bottom end if I send it to them.
  8. you are probably right about the forged pistons, i dont actually need them, but until i get a price on some stock pistons the cp pistons are looking like a cheap enough option, my engine made 220kw on 14 psi last time so it just sounded like a safe number for now. hell on the dyno if i can find a good enough tuner i might make the 250kw that the turbo is claimed to be capable of, but for now a nice safe tune is all i need. i under stand fully why buying a 2nd hand motor is a bad option, thats why im not really considering that an option, i could buy an unknown km/condition 2nd hand motor and it might only last a few weeks, id prefer to spend $2000 building a brand new internal motor, keeping my matching numbers block in the car and having it built for alot more power then i will ever make with it. then i will know that nothing is going to break in a few months time. i will weigh up my options about the pistons and im pretty sure stock pistons will be fine for my goal, just at this point i havent seen a price on a set of pistons from nissan.
  9. Want to swap bracketss?
  10. I thought neos used an n1 pump? My turbo is a hypergear atr43 ss-1. I'm planning on running about 220kw at the wheels. There is no way that I will be buying a second hand motor, my wife won't let me waste that much money for more problems. I trust my machine shop to do a good job.
  11. so far my head has had the full treatment, block hasnt been machined yet but will be machined to suit whatever size pistons i buy. im not getting randoms to assemble it, a machine shop will be boring the block/installing new pistons and bearings then bolting my head on. after that i will put it it in the car as it will be easier to get in it that way, then bolt on all the ancillaries. at the moment im looking at what pistons to buy, i also have to buy a pair of engine mounts, get a clutch made and get my cvs looked at while they are already out.
  12. I just see a rebuilt motor as a more reliable option then an unknown km second hand motor. I'm already half way through the rebuild anyway so no point stopping now. Considering how much money I've spent on the car now I dont think I could sell it, at this point il be keeping it until atleast 2019 just to get the use out of it. While I'm on here, how many people have rebuilt their cv shafts, are they expensive?
  13. I'm watching a set of cp pistons in an 86mm size, should I just get an 86.5mm set incase my bores aren't perfectly round? I plan on replacing everything I can, might as well do it while it's apart. Just had heard recently made n1 pumps were faulty. Just not looking to replacing my clutch after only 15k stupid excedy garbage. Probably go to npc this time and get a clutch made to suit the engines power.
  14. As the title says I have manual brackets and I need auto brackets so I can move my climate control to the top spot.
  15. the target now is just reliability, my wife and i have just got some big news so cars are just for transport now. but considering forged pistons are easier to find il probably go that way. whats all this talk of getting forged pistons made to suit factory rings? is there something wrong with the rings they put with forged pistons? i got a full 100k kit so ive got a new waterpump (old one is 50k old) the oil pump is a concern though. ive read something about n1 pumps being faulty, just a rumour? dont really think i need a tomei pump. crank collar? whats that about?
  16. ok ive got it all apart, number one piston has 2 tiny little cracks between the 1st and 2nd ring. so now do i forge or just get new pistons from nissan.
  17. hey, ive just installed a double din gps/dvd head unit to my rs4s and just wondering what people have done about their climate control units as mine will only fit in the middle slot. does the climate control in the auto have different mounting points or are the steel plates different? also has anyone installed a gps antenna? where do you recommend i put it? my guess is it has to be in the dash but not under anything metal. ive read about putting it outside the car but id prefer to keep it hidden. thanks for any info
  18. Yeah kinda, the sump isn't moving because it's glued so well. I have to try to cut through the goo to get it off.
  19. Ok it's out, now just gotta get the sump off . That's alot of silicon to cut off
  20. im not sure really, im goin to have to pull it out anyway,
  21. Lol. I was looking at that earlier, I pulled the boot out but wasn't sure. If that was how it worked.
  22. It's the same as a r33gtr so pull I think. I think I might pull the gearbox out, it looks like I have an oil leak somewhere.
  23. im going crazy, the engine and gearbox are apart far enough that the engine can be turned over but it still wont come out. its stuck on something, i know this sounds stupid but it looks like the the plate between the engine and gearbox is somehow attached to the gearbox so the flywheel/clutch wont let go.
  24. i thought i needed to get new brakes broken cvs are a positive.
  25. Ok all loose just won't slide out of the gearbox. On a positive note. My cv is rooted and I had a broken engine mount. explains my horrible vibrations.
