  1. I'm actually doubting the tuners abilities. Its only been losing boost about 1/6 of the time since I've had it back. It's only at certain throttle positions. If I do a slow throttle up to wot it will hold 21/22 all the way. I think they just didn't want to work on it again and just did a quick tune and said that will do. It drives normally and boosts normally but the change over from vac-boost is very rough. It kind of surges and bounces around. I'm trying to get it booked in at a different dyno. Il make up the air adapter today and check for leaks upto about 30psi and if I can't find any I will just get it re tuned.
  2. Ok thanks. As a temporary solution I took one of the bolts out if the accerator cable holder and put it through there.
  3. Nothing has changed since the tune, that's why I'm not worried. If Efi performance is half as good as everyone thinks then I don't have anything to worry about. The horrendous noise was there before and (im assuming) during the tune so that's not an issue until I fix it. $69 for the gasket at Nissan and there is none in Australia.
  4. With the filter out I still had the lid on the air box. I didn't want bonnet lining stuck to my afm.
  5. It's only occasionally making 20psi. But I deffinately need a new tune. It's terrible to drive. I have a horrible noise at high rpm. I'm making a 3 inch adapter with an air fitting at the moment so I can test it.
  6. I'm going to Nissan today to get some front shaft bolts so il get a plennum gasket while im there and replace it to be sure.
  7. This is yesterday's events. I just went for a drive to see if disconnecting the waste gate/ try running without an air filter fixed my boost issue and something strange happened. 1st run(no waste gate lines) hit 30psi. Bad idea, pull over reconnect. 2nd run(as normal) boost drop off isn't constant only in certain gears/load points. Pull over. 3rd run(no air filter) goes as normal untin 4th gear 165/170km/h, bang, miss miss miss miss miss miss etc... Slow down, pull off highway, drives as if intercooler pipe has come off. Pull over. No pipes off. Nothing unusual. Do uturn, big skid, drive home. Possibly slightly laggy response. Still hitting 20psi
  8. Ok so now I've got 22psi on gearchanges and 20 at redline. And a possible large leak somewhere.
  9. Ok so now I've got 22psi on gearchanges and 20 at redlIne. And a possible large boost leak.
  10. Just another question, where did everyone run the boost line through the firewall?
  11. i try to do alot of the work myself, i just didnt fancy trying to do the clutch in my garage as i can barely lift a toyota supra box on my chest let alone a massive 4wd stagea box. a 4wd place at nerang did the clutch, since it was done the throw out bearing has been noisey. i bought an excedy heavy duty organic clutch kit and got them to install it, it included a pressure plate, clutch plate and throw out bearing. but didnt include a spigot bearing. efi performance did the tune, not happy with the result or the tune or their abilities. the dyno sheet is in the hypergear thread. its loosing boost badly, unknown reasons. thats why i disconneted the wastegate line, to see if it was the wastegate actuator. im gonna go pull it all apart and see if anything split, i just needed to wait for it to cool down. yes ive got the stock inlet manifold, i pulled it off to do the injectors. il check the turbo mount bolts while im pulling stuff off.
  12. The noise sounds to be at the rear of the engine/front of gearbox somewhere but it's hard to pin point as it only happens for half a second before I stop accelerating. Pull over. No pipes off. Nothing unusual. Do uturn, big skid, drive home. Possibly slightly laggy response. Still hitting 20psi no issues. So confused.
  13. Yer it's been tuned, yes the noise changes with depressing the clutch. They were supposed to replace the clutch, throw out bearing, front and rear gaskets when the clutch was done. They gave me one of the gaskets back and said it didn't need it. But my gearbox looks like it's losing oil somewhere. It's covered in it. Both at idle and the high rev noise goes away when you change gears as it drops the rpms.
  14. Hey everyone. My car has developed a very strange screechy noise high in the revs. I thought it was audible knock but my wife said it's coming from the gearbox, it's a similar noise to when I stripped the gears in my rc car, like a grinding gear noise. Is it possible it's my throw out bearing? My throw out bearing is noisey, has been since I had my clutch replaced. Next thought was valve bounce/ cam lash. Any ideas where to look? Thanks
  15. If someone has a pic of an auto bracket il post up a pic of my manual bracket.
  16. Ok Kewl, I'm trying to convince the wife that she wants it, she's like I will only get a stag if it's yellow, I'm like there is a nice one for sale . Just gotta sell her 2001 turbo beetle. If it sells and you still have it we will be down there.
  17. If the exhaust Is the restriction it will always be there. It's too loud without an exhaust. Mayb the k&n is too restrctive
  18. I really would like to get a blitz boost control as ive got a blitz fatt. But I thought blitz had been sold and they are a different brand now. But I saw one on eBay. So yer
  19. yeah im goin to have a dig around in the morning and see what i can find, there has to be something im not considering.
  20. yer im still running the stcok airbox with a k&n panel filter, my intake is a 3inch rubber 7mm thick rubber truck intercooler bend with a 45 degree steel bend that touches the afm with a silcon joiner joining the 2. my blow off valve is one of the things to try tommorow as i just read they are only rated to 18psi. edit, tangles response, yer i think that may be the root off my problem. as far as i know the compression is ok but i havnt tested it since i before the turbo blew a few months ago thanks for the suggestions
  21. i just noticed i miss typed, sorry, it was suposed to read "it feels a few hp short of the stock turbo"
  22. as far as i know that dyno sheet is without a boost control as it didnt do anything. im going to go buy a few things tommorrow and do some more testing as im not 100% that all issues were looked into.
  23. sorry for my ranting earlier, i was rather pissed off and the tuner will never answer their phone and i have some other issues so i took it out on here so SORRY EVERYONE. edit, its running a high pressure actuator, that run is without a boost control as far as i know.
  24. to everyone, im sorry for mouthing off but i was rather pissed off, i had just gotten home and there is a few problems i need rectified and seeing as the tuner wont ever answer their phone i took it all out on here. anyway if anyone has any ideas it would be appreciated. here is the dyno sheet. i dont know how to use my scanner so here is a photo.
  25. yes i know i was pissed off and i need to remove some comments.
