  1. Wikipedia said that, but it's hardly a reliable source. It can and has been done at least once, but for the dubious legality, costs involved, and results "gained" it's not worth it on a Skyline.
  2. 9.0:1 in a 2.5 l engine is painful, don't know about the cam profiles, but someone actually had a thread with pics, and regretted wasting the time and money. Need I reiterate that you'd need it returned for its now horribly inefficient engine?
  3. these threads don't get locked on sight? TL;DR, engine is incredibly low comp for N/A use, would need to be retuned, still run like shit, and depending on the state, still be illegal. Put N/A motor in or don't drive / sell / use as track car while on P's. Conversion has been done before, with the above mentioned results. MBS206: you mean upgrade there pal
  4. good article that, the union bashers should give it a read. At the end of the day, above all of the other factors involved, the constant media negativity, and unwillingness of successive governments to keep kicking in a small amount of money to a business (well businesses if you include Ford), that generated billions of dollars in revenue a year, not to mention GM gimping the export possibilities, and Ford not even entertaining it meant the end for the local carmakers. If you think Toyota is going to stick around now that the precedent has been set, I think you're fooling yourself. The wage cost was a relatively small factor in it all, despite what the Herald Sun might have you believe. We actually subsidize our carmakers a lot less than most countries, even accounting for economies of scale. The extremely fragmented new car market here doesn't help either. It's terrible how this country is becoming increasingly reliant on minerals and services when it has been shown that it is not enough to have a sustainable economy, with national institutions being flogged off to foreign owners.
  5. I really have no idea - the most I've done is 64 reps of bodyweight in the 8x8 setup for Tabata!
  6. I'd thought about giving 100 reps of 60kg a go just to see if I could do it!
  7. had a guy notice me doing cuban press, face pulls etc yesterday, gave me some good pointers with other prehab type exercises I could do (turned out to be a doctor). Birds that sounds like something the pro BB in our gym would inflict onto one of his PT clients, except for the fact that he dosen't squat so it would be leg press and calf raises lol. how long did it take you to recover afterwards?
  8. yeah the TT one was the real kicker, mentions steriods, then a shot of some ON protein powder LOL.
  9. first the today tonight story, now this piece of "journalism" http://www.news.com.au/lifestyle/health/the-aussie-blokes-hooked-on-steroids/story-fneuzle5-1226781478429 , obviously fit people are the next target of the nanny state!
  10. If there's one thing that's become clear, it's how well the media have played their part in destroying the local car industry, starting with this insane notion that the government was tipping ridiculous amounts of money into the local producers for no benefit. Even accounting for economies of scale, our automotive market is FAR less subsidized than nearly every other country that manufactures cars, and also without the tariffs to protect the locally made product. I would also say it's very likely that Toyota will also shut down, followed by the various component manufacturers. I think that the bullying tactics by the current Government were the last straw. It'll be a sad day for Australia when that factory closes.
  11. nice pc Birds, if I didn't have a $180 case and 4 hard disks, I reckon my next build would be Mini ITX as well. Good luck with BF4 @ 1440p on anything above High lol.
  12. well to put it into perspective, I do 142.5 x8x3, when I did 1RM, because I had no idea what I could do, I did 180 which was easy, then 200, at which point I didn't want to push it any harder in case my knees gave out. I've found that curling the toes to stop leaning forward and using the hips / glutes to come back up and concentrating on that has helped a lot with any knee soreness that I've had, that said I always err on the side of caution when something does not feel right.
  13. i reckon you could go harder, why don't ya do 160 and see how you feel after that?
  14. had some beers last night, didnt drink any water before training this morning = lots of sweating and struggle central! On the plus side, I managed to break through my curl plateau haha. Still not benching or pressing and doing the assistance movements reccommended by Tolga and Rev as well.
  15. for some reason I only got out a 170 again the other week, but I did get out a 200kg squat fairly easily. Training weight is about 140 5x3 on my deadlift day. I like deadlift a lot more than I used to as well haha.
  16. I agree Birds - it's the fake natties that everyone hates, because they aren't truthful. From what I've read, it seems quite pointless to start cycling until you're near your genetic potential as well - most of the people I know on test do not look that big / or are hugely strong. Biggest benefits seem to be the recovery ability and being able to eat whatever crap and not put on fat. The other amusing part is that only a couple have a good understanding of what PCT is and how to go about it. On an unrelated note, I started using chalk the other day, best training related decision I've made since going from a bro split to a proper beginner strength program.
  17. 5-6kcals a day is what a competing strongman eats, and most of them are over 6" and builtfat.
  18. Isn't birdy paid to remove clothing for women? mai waifu is the opposite - she'd much prefer me fat.
  19. who lifts to impress women!? (apart from Birds of course)
  20. However Markos would also be the first to tell you that the results obtained in his gym are not just from the right program and diet Sounds like PPP is similar to 5/3/1
  21. well I'd prefer to continue my PTC beginner routine if I can, which includes dips - I'd obviously give the bench a rest while working on shoulder mobility. I'll give all that stuff a go though - I don't really have anything to lose here, and a lot to gain if it means I'm not snapping up my shoulders!
  22. I did the scapular wall slide, no movement in butt or back arch. I also did a version where you lie on the floor and do much the same thing, no problems. I did do the pencil test and they pointed inwards, so doing wall slides regularly are also meant to help with improving this. Ok duly noted Tolga - I assume you mean 3x5 warmup sets then 3x3 work sets as outlined in this article http://startingstrength.com/articles/stronger_press_starr.pdf , I'll have to hunt around my gym to see if they have any resistance bands, or I'll buy one. I'll include the face pulls as well as the external rotations. For the face pulls and Cuban press, should I do linear progression with it, or just keep it at a light weight?
  23. I'm not having pain or anything like that, I can just feel it more in the shoulders. I'll try some assisted pullups, stretching etc then go back to my bench pressing and OHP and see if there's any difference after a week. I'm probably just being overly paranoid, but it has been bugging me that my pressing movements are really lagging behind the rows, squats, deadlift.
