About To Drop In New Turbo And Fuel Pump
bozodos replied to lukeybaby's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
A mate had a 2530 on a HR-31 redtop with better wiring to fuel pump, and no other mods apart from the usual cooler, EBC and exhaust and ran 1 bar for umm about 8 months before it went pear shaped and when the motor was stripped down was found to be a scored bore Before he fixed his fuel pump wiring up it ran like a dog though. IMO I'd still do the supporting mods for peace of mind. -
1988 Skyline High Performance Model
bozodos replied to TrevTTE's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Sounds like an Aussie model R31, btw there is a thread around for FAST requests. -
yeah a NEO is a bit of a different story in regards to fuel consumption
-
mm yeah I have to pull mine out n throw em away every 10 000km because of carbon build up, I think i may have one of the safest tunes on the planet!
-
a mate had a piped 180, it did sound good, but as soon as the muffler went back on, it sounded like a lancer once again, we of course took great pains to inform him of how homosexual he was because of it
-
32 has a up and go personality, and gives you that warm fuzzy feeling that a 180 could never even hope to have! An R32 also makes you instantly attractive to women
-
well here we have United which has E10 95 and 98, and now one of the BP's is phasing in what appears to be E10 91 instead of the 95 Premium they used to have. Like i said before, my commodore took a good two or 3 goes on that stuff to get started (skyline does anyway gotta live microtech's and their cold starts), and the fuel consumption is increased noticeably. Apparently ethanol can eat your fuel lines too or something?

Proof That Bnr32 Exhaust Are Free-flow ?
bozodos replied to cobrAA's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
haha um what do you mean free flow? they came out with a catalytic converter and mufflers from the factory if thats what you're asking... -
umm e10 91 octane? you can keep it thanks, I've used e10 98 in my old VN and a few times in my R32, and for some reason it makes them not want to start and to then use EVEN MORE fuel than before. Maybe if I had it tuned for that fuel, but I don't think anything from United will be sullying my petrol tank again anytime soon.

Importing A Car From Japan
bozodos replied to n/a_r34GT's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
so lemme get this right, the OP wants a cheap car but dosen't know much about importing, but then decides to give a sermon on the supposed illegality of import brokers? ^_~ -
soooo much hatin on the good ol SR20! they might be a lawnmower, but they have one thing the RB25 will never have, which is decent fuel economy!
-
Relocate the turbo to the boot and put the piping through the car is OBVIOUSLY the smartest option, come on guys ;p
-
It only takes skill and ability to dose fyi

Should of mentioned that it is a black car I'm talking about! Fair enough, I will look into the Extra Gloss protection; due to my car sitting in the elements, I get kind of anal about cleaning the exterior (I previously had a VN SS which was resrpayed, didnt look after it, to cut a long story short, 4 years later I had the paint fading off the bonnet like crazy, and flaking off of the gutters off the roof and near the rear bumper)
-
ah yeah sounds reasonable, the only thing I'm still unsure about is whether Autoglym Deep Shine polish also doubles as a wax or whether I should invest in a wax itself (which I need for a car which is parked under a eucalypt tree 99% of the time.
-
ahh fair enough, yeah I had to get both my mufflers removed for RWC because they sat too low, but then the exhaust was too loud (gotta love NSW and the annual RWC checks). My whle exhaust, which used to be a Fujitsubo before being butchered, sits barely 100mm off the ground! I don't get scraping at all though, which is why I never have put my coilovers to their lowest setting.

11% More Flow By Removing The Mesh In Your Afm
bozodos replied to chef_stagea's topic in South Australia
I swear to got this thread was poached from a 5 or 6 year old Calais Turbo post, come on, removing air flow meter mesh?! geez. -
haha yeah mate its not, gonna be a T51R turbo making 500rwkw, have a look in the forced induction section

in all seriousness, my mum used to tow 2 arab horses in a heavy duty float + saddles, bridles etc in a GQ RB30S patrol with stiffer springs to stop the rear of the car from sagging down too much with the horses on. Was brilliant apart from going up hills lol. I can't think of anything better to tow with apart from a 4.2 diesel Patrol (turbo!). You're not going to get good fuel economy (ie our 4.2 turbo diesel is only a little less thirsty than my R32, bank on around 16L/100km, but at least it has a sub tank!) Not sure if you care for offroading or not, but Landcruiser/Patrol are WAY ahead of the Prado/Pajero for off road capability, I've been with fleet buyers testing them all out and the Pajero especially seems to end up getting dust in the glovebox and in through the doors after some serious off road action. The Landcruiser costs a lot more than the equivalent Patrol, but is also bigger. I've driven a fair few and the GQ turns better than a GU and I prefer the feel of the clutch, but the GU is light years ahead in terms of creature comforts and ease of driving on long trips; cruise control is soooo much better! A31 Cefiro's are good for towing too (at least other skylines) lol. I've also had a mate put a towbar on his HR31 to tow another car, went alright tbh clubsports are for the gays, get a Patrol, esp a 4.2 turbo diesel. BTW, our RB30S GQ has gone over 500 000km with no major repairs apart from new clutch, carby, extractors and welsh plugs, thats in 17 years of serious 4wd'ing and towing. It's also the reason I bought a Skyline vs a Toyota import. one other thing, if you're stuck in some country town in the middle of nowhere, chances are the local mechanic will know how to work with a nissan or toyota, vs some american shite!

Skyline Drivers Losers?
bozodos replied to nickandsarah_83's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
haha thats a GOOD thing -
whats this about stock clutches only handling so much power!? could someone please elaborate? mine is a "heavy duty" on the receipt from a clutch shop, but has a heavy pedal and a more forgiving release point than my mates who run the exedy single plate 'drift' clutches.
-
Probably not gonna find much help around here mate in regards to a Patrol, have you tried a 4wd forum? I had a look in the GQ workshop manuals, but there isn't actually anything in there about oil capacity, I'm *guessing* that it would be the same since you've retained the sump, bearing in mind that you'll need to use a decent quality synthetic oil now. Just outta interest, why not start with an RB30S motor?
-
damn that guilt toy bloke and his 380rwkw and his vipec ecu which even makes his dinner and his burnouts! haha you may want to read his sig or youtube his vids or do a search on his previous posts before attacking! He probably knows a thing or two more about engine building and tuning than most of us. again internet white knights lol, how do you even know "miss r34" is a chick, could be a bloke in a skirt or something, who knows?! sapphire graphics, have a look thru her recent posting history to gather why there's 'sexist' comments made, it's not a simple case of "they see me rollin, they hating and tryin to catch me riding dirty"
-
I'm interested in the beaded type clamps, however I can't find anywhere which sells them around here, so I've stuck to using Cummins Tee bolt clamps, which as long as they are done up in the right spot seem to work really well (in conjunction with their silicon hose which has a textured wrapping on it causing the clamps to stick really hard into it). $5.90 per clamp is exxy though, I'm just replacing mine as they start to stuff up.
