haha strangely enough, I had a local 'performance' mechanic try and tell me today that Microtech's are a good computer for a Skyline! Value for money etc. The only good thing I can say about mine is that it has the dash controller which displays sensor readings, tacho and boost. He also reckons its quite easy to get AWD to co operate with it, I remain sceptical. Thing is though, you go on a VL related forum and everyone uses Microtechs! It also would seem that if they were actually any good, a LOT more people on here would be running them.

What about something like Nistune?

I dunno about you guys, but that seems reasonably priced to me?

The thing is though, by the time you hit your 20's, in my experience at least, you tend to grow out of trying to impress chicks or your mates with your shameless, silly simple minded shenanigans. Especially after witnessing a few accidents where speed was a factor. There were some stats in today's paper about the percentage of people on their P's here who made up the total of 73 cars impounded here in the last year, and it was over 70% IIRC. I'm really glad I didnt get my Skyline when I was 18, cause I know I would have treated it like a piece of shit, but I tend to agree that a blanket ban on ALL V8s, turbos etc is ill founded, idiotic and insane. Mainly due to the fact that the misguided, malevolent miscontents now just pour litres of oil down everywhere and do 'farken burnouts' in V6 Falcodores, and well who gives a stuff if your VN V6 does a bearing, or fries its rings, cause a new motor is around $500 from your friendly wrecker. The amount of new P platers finding nice supra's to molester due to not being able to drive anything really fast also worries me.

This whole concept is kind of like working a 202 or 253 motor off its guts. Lots of time money and effort, for fark all gains, and at the end of the day it ends up a lot cheaper and better to just buy a 308.

i've had like literally 5 f**king fines from those private contractor cars, all for around 5km/h over, and most of them I didnt even realise the car was there at the time. Shameless revenue raising, at least in NSW the cops do it and have a sign out so you know you've been done. In Vic at least its around 3 points unless you were doing insane speeds. P.S don't listen to your mrs re cars, worst thing you can do.

Recommended Coilovers For Street Drifting?
bozodos replied to geraus's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I can understand that having it too stiff can affect the wheel making contact with the road, but is that the only downside? I wouldn't mind driving an R32 with stock suspension just to see what mine compares like. -
King Springs In My R33 Gtr Vspec
bozodos replied to R33GOD's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Haha wouldn't you be scared of listing the mods on your GT-R to someone, then coming to oh yeah the suspensions done up with KING SPRINGS, and the other person saying "lol wanker". I spose 20" rims would do that automatically. They look shit on most cars, apart from MAYBE a luxo barge like an Aristo or a Laurel. I HATE el cheapo mods on Jap cars, as said before, it kinda wrecks the point of going out and paying all that money for shit. Especially on a GT-R what blasphemy. You may as well put in some Drift brand seats while you're at it. -
well putting recirc BOV back on would be a start, and maybe a standard exhaust if you can find one or another/more restrictive muffler.

oh dear that smashed R32 makes me sad

Lol rotary owners. I know someone else who had a LT8, and it had the same cold start, overfueling problems that mine does. Unfortunately for me I'll probably have to go RB20 ECU remap or get another loom wired in when I get rid of it due to only having a Microtech and the original loom in lol.
-
Just FYI, it took me 3 goes to start my car this morning equipped with a Microtech LT10S POS. Thats tuned by CRD too. How can you recommend them to anyone. They are also incompatible with ATTESSA if equipped. When i can afford to, I'm pulling mine out in favour of something that will actually start the car first go in the cold and won't give big block type fuel consumption. I'd be trying the piggyback, though apparently Dr Drift does some sort of remap or Nistune type job for the R33 ECU now?

Who Has An R32 Gts-4 4 Door
bozodos replied to ExodusDesign's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I have one of these with a currently non working ATTESSA system, I was always under the impression that the coupe was actually the rarer one due to most of them being bought as family cars. I could be wrong though. I like having something a little bit different, but figuring out whether I need GTS-T or GT-R parts can be a pain at times. -
lol'in @ page 3 in this saga. Well my original point was not to take a holier than thou attitude because I'd say a lot of us have done illegal things in cars at some point in our lives (but not in a GEE TEEE ARGGGGGHH), just moreso that writing about it on here is not a smart move, depends on the forum, especially when there's been a few hoon scares recently, and it appears that most of SAU is trying to get the whole 'car enthusiast' image going, trying to be more akin to say a muscle car club than a haven for hideously driving hooligans in high powered hoonmobiles. It's like posting a vid on youtube of doing hectic burnouts in an area which is obviously a public road, might make your mates think you're cool, but when your car gets towed due to some smartass ringing the hoon hotline you're gonna be in tears. I keep trying to stress this point. Your epic backpedal was funny though. i mean CT has a bit more of a relaxed attitude about those things, mainly because half of the members congregate at Noble Park Maccas every Friday night.

OP: you can drive a GT-R on your L's Yeah good advice RE driving mates cars, I had a mate blame me for clutch wreckage in his LS1 and I blamed him for teh slipping auto in my VN, from driving each others cars. Not to mention if there's any kind of crash...

How Would You Build A Street Sleeper?
bozodos replied to R33_Dude's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Waaay back in the day there was a Daihatsu Mira getting around here, stock looking, white with a small bonnet scoop for a top mount cooler, sporting a turbo'd motor. It made 130fwkw, and had awesome power to weight ratio. Fittingly, the plates were GRNADE lol. I'm quite a fan of the thought of a Volvo or Daihatsu hatch with some performance behind it, and well said about the Volvo driver assumption, anyone remember that epic fail Volvo ad campaign about 'bloody Volvo drivers'? -
Well you can fit an esky, toolbox and several dogs into the back of a Crewman I'd expect much the same response if I made a thread 'wot is the value of my skyline' on Street Commodores forum lol. redbook is your friend btw, gives you a good ballpark figure.

Pontiac Is Officially Dead

Don't Cadbury own Street's ice creams though? Could have been an easy way to eliminate the opposition I guess. Or to sack everyone and re employ them on new agreements? -
Recommended Coilovers For Street Drifting?
bozodos replied to geraus's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
why's that? Wouldn't stiffer springs help the car stick to the road better? -
Found On Roadside Dead Yeah most of the XR6T / Force 6 types here think they're pretty fast in a straight line, but those things don't seem to corner very well (and thats where the fun's at!)

Recommended Coilovers For Street Drifting?
bozodos replied to geraus's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Interesting thread, does that mean that King springs coupled with a decent dampener are a better option than a cheap 'coilover'? Very true about the adjustments, I've made the front a bit harder in mine once and that was it. A mate spent $2.4k getting inverted monotube, pillow ball tops, fully adjustable S13 JIC FLT TAR brand new coilovers, they look awesome, but we took his car for a spin (HR31 GTS) and still felt kind of floaty through the corners, though that was with dampeners on maximum softness. I don't know anyone who plays around with their settings either. I run Tein Type NA in mine, do any of you know anything about these? I can only find very sketchy details about these, I do have a receipt for the previous owner bying them from SSS Automotive several years ago, so thankfully they're not the ones it has had on for 20 years lol. They are a coilover with a circlip to adjust height to 4 different settings, they dont have a thread like conventional coilovers. I've never bothered changing iride height - I like being able to get over speed humps normally! It's funny you know, I never used to pay much attention to suspension setups until I went for a ride in a mates A31 $5k of suspension parts in it, and even compared to mine the handling was just fantastic. It made me realise that it's not actually a waste of money to set things up properly. -
Could you enlighten me as to why Guilt-Toy? wouldn't the VL one have a bigger comp wheel to start with?

I bought my car with a KKR 480 running 18psi and with a dyno sheet for 240rwkw. aside from running that much boost leading to never ending boost leaks, KKR's are teh sucky turbos, mine starts spooling at around ~2500rpm with straight through exhaust and EBC (used to be more like over 3000), seems to me that to have to run that much boost to make that power, well whats the point. On the other hand another RB25 getting around with one can't get boost until 4000rpm (apparently it's a KKR style turbo though). Strangely enough, on some other car forums the Ebay turbos are seen as good, cheap power, with ancedotal evidence that 10 out of say 100 are ok and have decent tolerances, I still wouldn't use one. I'm looking at either a Holset (if I can find out not only the specs i need for 250rwkw as well as something I can bolt onto the standard exh manifold that will fit), T04E or 3071r.

What about a trip to Bendigo and back? One way to Mildura is also 500 odd km if you're going from the northern suburbs lol.
