  1. I don't really care what you do, you just don't get it do you. As far as I can see SAU is trying its best to distance itself from the whole 'hoon' thing. When you come on here BOASTING about doing ILLEGAL things on PUBLIC ROADS, it makes ALL of us LOOK BAD. The other point i was making is that you are an INEXPERIENCED DRIVER. I've seen the direct aftermath of a single car crash due to loss of control at 180km/h into a palm tree, and its an absolute mess, not to mention closed casket funerals. I don't know specific legalities, but I imagine that it looks bad if you are involved in criminal proceedings and you've posted about your exploits on a public forum.
  2. I think this guy is after the ol 'shed' burnouts, reminds me of wankers who pour oil down over speed humps at the local cruising spot here so their minitruck can rip it up yeaaaah. Brakes should not be needed for a burnout in a manual at all.
  3. People like you bragging about being insanely dangerous on public roads on a public forum is what shits me. Theres too many unexpected variables due to it not being a controlled environment, not to mention your lack of driving experience and skill (and don't try and say you can handle 180km/h without being a race car driver). What if a dog had run out onto the freeway or some critical part in one of the cars failed at the critical moment (apart from your motor). Didn't you hear about that horror crash in Adelaide with an R33 GT-R and a WRX not long ago. Couple of fools doing the same thing. One's now missing body parts and the other is dead. The implication that people who drive at the speed limit are driving like 'grannies' is ridiculous. If you can't control your right foot, then its you who should be parting ways with the high performance car. Most people I know who were like that have had to go through being impounded and losing their licences for long periods of time to learn this. People with your attitude are the reason why cops give the rest of us such a hard time and sensationalist TV shows like Today Tonight run never ending stories on the "hoon" threat. P.S I'm not the one who had to fork out for a new motor ha ha ha.
  4. Yeah they seem to go alright. If you were street racing as you seem to be implying, you're a f**king tosser. I just hope you either get caught or only kill yourself. 180km/h on any public road is sheer madness. Hope you learnt something from wrecking your motor in the progress.
  5. Ugh why are people gracing this with serious replies, don't use a Skyline for burnouts, what do you think V8 Commodores are made for? P.S if your mate can't do a burnout without the brakes, he should give up while he's ahead.
  6. If you wanted a dealer delivered car to get your government tax break, why on earth come on a forum dedicated to grey imports to ask!? If you want to obviously drive it hard, why are you worried about fuel economy? Your post seems illogical (as is asking for advice on buying a car with your money on a public forum lol). FG Falcons have the sex appeal of Micheal Jackson btw. Did you drive these cars around any bends or did you just mash them in a straight line? Enjoy your ridiculous depreciation.
  7. Really? Nearly all of the tough Datsun's around here have worked 1600 or the original A12 motor all done up! Still they weigh about the same as a mighty boy...
  8. It'd seem a bit silly to try and stuff a big motor into a Kei car though. Datsun 1200 with CA18DET?
  9. I thought the major engine swap on a Mighty Boy was the 800cc turbo conversion
  10. do you have any pics of this? Surely a RB30 wouldn't have enough power to spin the belt?!
  11. tell you what, I'd love to see an RB30S sporting a 6/71 type blower!! Seriously though, supercharging (esp the SC14), and even twincharging was explored by some in the VL Turbo community years and years ago, in the end it's not a whole lot of gain for the expenditure, especially compared to a turbo setup. Castlemaine Rod Shop do a kit for the RB30E here : http://www.rodshop.com.au/supercharger_kit...ercharger_3.htm , on their test car it went up from 80RWKW to a tyre searing 110rwkw on 10psi! WOOHOO! If you want to be different for the hell of it you may as well put an RD28 diesel in your car or something. OP: You're doing well at making people think you just want to drive like a dickhead, not much sympathy for that around these parts.
  12. successful troll is....
  13. haha that actually works too.
  14. My sister has our old RB30 GQ, they are quite incredibly slow. I'd love to do a VLT conversion on it, the motor's done 500 000km, so I think it might be nearly time for some new rings at least
  15. Coolers are nowhere near big enough lol. Gotta love how there's 2 different shades of yellow on those "BT1's"
  16. Well this thread is called why shouldn't I sell my Skyline for a WRX, hence everyone bashing on WRX's! what a revelation! The guy asked for reasons to keep his R33 rather than buy a WRX and was given them /thread
  17. Well the thread has gone off course a bit, IMO Japanese cars are inherently better designed and engineered than most; much has been made of the reletive technological advantages that they have had for two decades that Holden at least has finally come up with a solution to. I don't think it's 'hatred' so much, more of a reaction to most other car enthusiast's who tend to deride the grey import stuff. RE your argument about rarity, how often do you see a VB SL/E or VB Commodore of any kind these days? About the same as 4 door XB's I'd reckon! They are still worth stuff all though. I'd have to disagree with your assertion that given the same amount of money you could build a local car to similar performance as your average turbo import (late model Commodores and Falcons excluded.) There is no cheap shortcuts with the old 5 litres etc. Not to mention that standard Holden / Ford suspension is craptastic vs stock Skyline suspension. You would have thought a bit more R&D from the parent US companies would have flowed down into the local makers over the past 20 years however! I consider myself a car enthusiast, but I really do think that a lot of locally made cars are really overrated. Ever looked up the performance specs for say the VK Group A or even the VN Group A vs the Skyline GT-R? (And I do realise that the GT-R was twice as much but they were both a 'Group A' homogolation special!) Yeah you can wring good performance out of the older carburetted V8s and sixes, I recall that the carby 308 being a much easier and cheaper motor to mod than the 304 EFI. It's moreso the fact that they can never be tuned just right, the cold start issues etc. Even Japanese branded cars which were produced here seem to be exceptionally reliable as far as I've seen.
  18. I watch it every now and again for a laugh, I only get riled up when people repeat the stuff from those shows like it's fact or try and defend their 'ambush the bastard' journalistic techniques (which the Chaser famously imitated much to Ch 7's dislike).
  19. Well I have actually been for a ride in a HSV with the blueprinted (!) 355, it was a VT Senator Signature 10th Anniversary special with the 6 speed, well the ol VN with just a lil cam was still faster, so I'm guessing its the dimension of just looking fast.
  20. I like to think that there's more than 5% of Australia who watch TT and ACA for comedy purposes only. That said the Herald Sun is one of the best selling papers in the country
  21. Haha i bet he'd take a swap for VN SS +2gz or something ridiculous like that for it too.
  22. Hehe. TBQH I'm kinda over the whole dosing thing now, was curious as to whether there would be much of an improvement using a GTR BOV with a MAP sensor ECU.
  23. Yeah I have that Motor mag where they did the top speed comparison, the Monaro managed 270km/h bog stock lol. And it was hardly an even playing ground when it was a highly modified R33 V-Spec, compared to the other cars which were stock. Still 308km/h is no mean feat! IMO Motor magazine isn't really the best authority on motoring matters anyway. BTW I don't recall anyone saying that Camry's were pedo cars. And the older ones at least were boring as f**king batshit. An auto 2000 model Camry is the one and only car I've seen that could not actually accomplish a burnout in any form. This thread is about jap vs Aussie car reliability in general, and now it's degenerated into 2 pages of people carrying on about Camrys! geez.
  24. There's a kombi van on youtube sporting a twin turbo Porsche engine lol.
  25. Nobody's mentioned the sick dose factor yet... Don't they improve fuel economy as well? (That would be the reason if I were to get one).
