  1. Nah, it's just Ferarri's in particular really, especially those like the Enzo and the FXX which are closer to an F1 car than anything street legal. I'm not interested in it if it can't be driven on a public road in some form. The engine note of that thing is like a buzzing insect close to the ear!
  2. I was going to say good riddance hah ;p
  3. I just don't get the excitement with these kind of 'cars'. Maybe if I was into go karting or F1?
  4. me : 'why dosen't ATTESSA work?' him: 'oh it works when ya piggyback the standard computer onto the Microtech bro, I just don't have them both on cause it looks messy" FFS why did I believe that.
  5. I asked some questions based on a quick Google of the topic of stretching tyres, which on nearly every other forum I looked at in my fairly brief perusal seemed to say that it was detrimental. Granted, aesthetics are down to a matter of opinion. I posed the issues that I'd found in the form of questions, not as a statement due to the fact that I do not know definitively whether it was a reasonable thing to do, or whether it was some shoddy backyard mod like chopping springs. One would think that if there is no ill effects from it save riduculously thin tyres on wide rims, then most tyre shops would be happy to do it? Again the less traction is better, I'm not into drifting, that was another product of my logical mind, not to mention that drifting must use tyres at an incredible rate, I mean after all drifting is a controlled powerslide. If anything, than the 'diesel squirter' brigade would be all in favour of tyre stretching, the insurance thing I mentioned was based on the fact that obviously a tyre is manufactured to be used with a certain sized rim, and when the assessor is looking for any and every way to get out of a payout, well that would be quite easy for them to pick up on. Ironically, one tyre place I went to refused to fit 255 wide tyres onto my 9.5" rims, citing that they were 'too big for the car'
  6. that thing is an effing wank. You don't actually own the car, only the right to use it? Sounds like every other Ferarri (i.e like a singer sewing machine until 6000rpm). What an absurd waste of money, especially in current times.
  7. You will be getting a new turbo though right
  8. kind of like that bloody R31 Skyline Club forum where they talk about other models apart from R31's!!!
  9. I'd've thought that stretching the tyre would compromise the strength of the sidewall, and also make it easier to roll off the bead? It also looks shithouse when it looks like you've got licorice straps on your wheels. Would it also make insurance void in an accident? Also wouldn't it make less of a contact between tread and the road, thereby creating more traction issues? (guess that would be the point for a drift car.)
  10. +1 for Kakimoto, a mates mrs has one on her R32, and somehow it manages to not only pass EPA but sounds really deep and burbly. If i was going to buy another catback, I'll be getting one of these. Meanwhile I'll stick with the 3" straight pipe, complete with backyard arc welds + 'performance' cat.
  11. That clamp in the pic looks identical to the Fleetguard one I bought through Cummins for my front pipe at a cost of $22. If you've got a dealer nearby they could be worth looking into, I'm always surprised at how many bits and pieces I can get through there! I've not looked into buying flanges due to not needing any, but they are the expensive bit right? (I'm thinking that you could always get an engineer to knock some up for you easily enough though)
  12. Dead cats either make a noise like marbles in the exhaust, or make the car unusually quiet, followed by leaks from all over your exhaust from my experiences! I've never seen a car running fine with white smoke either fyi :S
  13. a couple of my mates change gears without the clutch using standard boxes? (wankers lol)
  14. I was thinking that the VN will be a classic soon might be worth holding onto them as they appreciate in value
  15. Yeah i hear using 7 proxies can work wonders... umm try googling TOR nodes (can't remember the technical explanation, but i'm pretty sure the sickos on /b/ were using them for JB content etc, think it works on a similar system to a proxy) at high school, we were able to get into sites thru google cache, or when all else failed, just looked up russian porn or whatever (filter can't read cyrillic lol)
  16. quoted because I was going to say the same thing, but thought it too snarky lol.
  17. Can you ask if it's true that Shell VPower is 95 octane unleaded with additives to bump it up to 98, or is it a true 98 octane fuel (or will you even get an answer on that one lol).
  18. HAHA yeah i know the one (00)Skyline(00), happens a lot on V6's! Mine was an 8 and different sound to that in particular, you could hear it at idle and the sound increased linearly with the revs. It was also a deeper whine, more like a Gilmer belt drive. in that video, it sounds like it goes away when the clutch is in and then comes back when it goes out. But then it appears to do that in neutral as well :S Thinking about it, a mates Passage sounds a tad like this too, it also has a HKS Turbo. The only cars i've heard with straight cut gears incidentally (all WRX's) kind of make a TIE Fighter like sound, which that is not. I could be wrong though!
  19. Or is it just one of those controversial things that gets tabled before parliment every so often and then gets thrown out? TBH I didn't really look it up before posting ITT, like someone else has mentioned in another topic at some point in this forum, our car industry would already be kaput if it wasn't for import tariffs anyway. I do find it worrying that the entire GM empire is suddenly going broke though.
  20. fair enough, I believe that the OTR intake is designed to ram air into the throttlebody, much like the standard fitment intakes seen on the Corvettes, there's also the fact that the air is having a much more direct route to the engine.
  21. Yeah, it can be hard with those kind of sounds, a mate with an EL XR8 had a gearbox or diff whine sort of like that, my old VN had a REALLY loud supercharger type noise due to the clutch for the aircon being stuck on permanently, and like I said before, turbo gasket with a piece missing started it in the R32 (though when that happened, it was also extremely laggy and the noise seemed to go away on fullboost). It's not straight cut gears or something modified in the gearbox like that is it?
  22. Out of interest, did you ever break a motor or anything of the like Guilt Toy, or did you have someone more experienced to mentor you?
  23. lol that's a lot of effort for and LS1 when you can just mount an Over The Radiator type intake! Mine seems to suck better with a APEXi pod than a BLITZ one, but its probably just a placebo effect to reassure my wallet that I didn't waste 150 bucks! If i had the standard airbox I'd fit it back on - my car also seems to have a CAI snorkel leading up to where the pod / filter box sits, it looks like a factory fitment.
  24. lol does this mean that since my girlfriend has 2 shitboxes and a Beetle (in a class of its own), in her yard, she can get $9k?
  25. Wish I'd held off selling my VN now lol.
