More mileage would be nice, but I think maybe O2 sensor, atmo BOV and Microtech are more to blame for that. I have doubts on the value of any of those off the shelf octane boosters.
-
R31Nismoid, do the GT-R BOV's look any different externally to the GTS-T ones?

Clutch Master Cylinder Same Between R32/r33?
bozodos replied to PHATR32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
My GTS-4 took a brand new Y60 GQ Patrol one, I thought they were common along the entire R32 model range at least. If you go to Nissan or a parts supplier maybe they could show you what the various ones look like? -
Isn't the point of these just to temporarily shut it up when you want to be a tad stealthy? i'd look into getting one if they were effective enough to justify buying one.

High Powered Rb's And Burnouts....
bozodos replied to Guilt-Toy's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
haha gotta love all the pseudo greenie trolls that pop up from time to time... damn that is the best sounding RB I've ever heard! do you get any ill effects from using the rotational idle / anti lag? -
Doesn't all of the fuel here come from only a handful of major refineries? (I recall dimly something being mentioned about this in the last fuel saga thread) I've not seen any real difference in 98 octane fuels from any of the major servo's apart from United which took me from ~350-280km per tank to barely getting to 270km on the trip with the fuel light coming on. 99% of the time it's either Mobil or BP 98 purely due to convenience.

Rough When Driving/going Over Bumps..
bozodos replied to Awesome's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I was going to say hopefully its just hard springs/coilovers and not chopped ones ey? Possibly your shocks are stuffed if not? -
Go the GTS-4 if you can't afford a GT-R, most parts are common to either the GT-R or GTS-T with the exception of the gearbox and front diff.

How High Do You Rev Your Skyline?
bozodos replied to Awesome's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
when the red light on the Microtech dash tells me to shift or lately when the orange light tells me to shift due to it overboosting -
The Excitement And Quickness Of A New Car
bozodos replied to 3LGODZILA's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
sounds like your car not being 'quick' enough will be the least of your worries soon enough -
Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't the R32 and VL have similar weight? It would be moreso the 3.08 V8 diff, or even the 3.45 VLT diff that will let down the rev happy RB20 - IIRC most of the whinging about them on CT was due to the unhealthy fixation with drag cars on that website. You will find a ton of info there about a conversion though, just beware the amount of wankers and schoolkids that tend to congregate on there.

is the skyline turbo? depends if it was built to be a drag car etc etc, XR6T are fairly quick, theres a Typhoon around here with 300rwkw which can just beat a mates HR31 Passage with a NEO and a HKS 2540 hanging off it - thats running the original Stagea computer and 14psi. Traction would probably be the main issue I guess?
-
On the R32 at least, I found that you can pull apart the light switch and stretch the springs out to give better contact (had a non lighting headlight every once in a blue moon)

Air Conditioner Fan In Dash Stopped Working ?
bozodos replied to Guilt-Toy's topic in General Maintenance
I'll try this out in mine - in addition to only blowing air out of the window vents, it is convinced it's -23 outside constantly and won't cool any air down argh! -
R31 Siii Ti Rb25det Neo Or R32 Gtr?
bozodos replied to fr05ty's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Have you considered getting an R32 shell and stuffing your NEO into that maybe? -
What You Hate About Your Skyline Thread
bozodos replied to jakez88's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)

Is Flat-sticking Bad For Your Car? (automatic)
bozodos replied to Luckieee's topic in General Automotive Discussion
parking mah bricks ITT OP : you're a moron, and I only hope its an inferior model of skyline you are trying your best to murder. -
Yeah tell me about R33's with chopped springs and chromies, I've also noticed the paint on my lower bar is starting to peel - it's a real tossup on whether to repair and repaint, buy a new bar to get trashed or leave it. Did an 800km round trip to Adelaide with a couple of mates to get some JIC coilovers, s14 hubs and a few other bits and pieces, was well worth the trip to see somewhere which actually sells aftermarket parts for imports! (there is a performance shop here who has a remarkable amount of R32 GT-R parts, almost suss in fact, but no aftermarket stuff.)

Well I thought I'd create a topic about the unique issues that those of us living further away from civilization face. I personally live in a small town 30 odd km from Mildura, apart from the daily commute on the highway, I notice that my 'line gets a lot of stone chips in the front, piggy on fuel on the highway and also seems to get a lot of comments from locals about 'driving one of those bloody cars that cheated at bathurst'. Even so, its still a nicer drive than my recently departed VN SS, I also managed to hit a red kangaroo once (thank god for good brakes and ABS), breaking a front headlight in the process, I've also hit several cats and rabbits, all of which were unavoidable. On the other hand, the kangaroo would have ended up in the windscreen of the VN, so I count myself very lucky. There are several tuning places here who do a horrendous job of tuning Skylines, parts are easily come by at one (at least for 4wd R32's), of course if I want a retune, Adelaide is 400km and Melbourne 550km away so JDM parts and wreckers are a fair while away, though good freight services means that parts usually come within 2 days or so from a capital city. Getting the car retuned locally is out of the question; discerning import owners usually go to Adelaide. Local mechanics are also very hit and miss with the grey imports, luckily i've got a few mates who are very knowledgable with the mechanical side, though I try to do as much as I can myself. The often craptastic roads around here mean I am often bashing my head on the roof, I'm fine with the suspension settings in terms of hardness, but potholes + coilovers = concussion. On the plus side, cops usually always leave me alone unless when recently I had a headlight switch not working properly. Their one and only concern is the atmospheric blow off valve, which I am soon to get rid of, because of its obviousness. I also find the abundance of twisty, little used bitumen roads fantastic for testing out my driving ability (at the speed limit). I try my best to stay off dirt roads, but even in 2WD, it handles quite well. Due to the remoteness, I find no point in joining the Skyline club, once in a blue moon there is an 'import cruise' with 30 odd R33's, I might attend the next one. I'm curious as to the kind of things the rest of you guys who live in the country face.

A drag car and a car with no front bar with the cooler totally exposed are completely different to a street car here. I've got slimline NSW plates on mine, if it weren't dark, I could measure exactly how far the plate is hanging down beneath the mounting place (GT-R front bumper mind you), but I doubt it would be in excess of 3cm. The one and only difference I've seen to water temps is the amount of coolant actually in there! (assuming that the cooling system is working properly.) This is from my experiences with street cars, not drag, drift or track cars.
-
It might not be obvious for that problem - I had a mate with a very similar problem in an R33 - ended up being that the timing was completely out, but surely wouldn't someone notice!?! I for one always check the battery connections in my cars, if only for buildup of contaminants usually.

Help. Boost Issues, Dunno What It Is.
bozodos replied to drftps13=D's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Speaking from limited mechanical experience, when my car was playing silly buggers like this, with a boost tee, I ended up thinking it was leaking boost from a dodgy exhaust - replaced the V-band clamp and exhaust gasket, to find that the car was still problematic - it ended up being a severe blockage in the exhaust near the catalytic converter - if all else fails, I reccommend you check this out. I could be wrong, but hey it's a forum.
