Skyline Drivers Losers?
bozodos replied to nickandsarah_83's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
every thread in general discussion seems to wind up going in the same direction!. I like the look and sound of RX7s, and ill talk to the guys around here who drive them, being a car enthusiast is more of a mindset than a brand allegiance though the reliability issues and insane fuel consumption never made me fancy one for myself though. When I mentioned other people snobbing me when I drive my VN I meant people who know me or know that my other car is a Skyline.. I tend to avoid 99% of R33 drivers, and the comment about them becoming the new VL Turbo is justified IMO, there are so many ockers and plain idiots buying them here and promptly getting caught hooning its not funny. No offence to the guys who drive em on here, but its a trend i've noticed that you can't really deny. I always give a wave to HR31 drivers, mainly because I feel sorry for the fact that they are a chick deterrent and most people think they are the same as the pov pack aussie version lol. Unique imports also catch my eye, and ill always give the driver a thumbs up, around here it seems to be all older wealthy guys with the Stagea's, rare WRX's etc. p.s I go on Calais Turbo occasionally for a laugh, some of the mods there are a pisser! (not to mention /b/tards) -
Skyline Drivers Losers?
bozodos replied to nickandsarah_83's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I have an issue with the Skyline drivers who wave when i'm driving mine, then as soon as I drive my SS, they just greasy me like I'm some sort of traitor. Same thing happens to my mate. -

100rwkw or so would sound about right - the one here is shockingly slow, like excel like slow.

Microtek $2200 Intalled Suplied And Tuned
bozodos replied to wannaslide's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
How funny, one of the previous owners of mine got the combo of a Microtech and KKR. Cold starts suck, fuel economy sucks, and for some reason I and everyone I know who has one of these computers also has a car which runs very rich. I also have no VCT, AWD (still trying to work out how on earth I can get it happening with the piece of shite), and the car feels sluggish at around 5000rpm (changing heat range of plugs, and changing oil to Motul to see if I can alleviate some of this) The LCD Dash is a cool wank factor though. If it weren't a daily and I had the time and money to stuff around I'd pull out the Microtech and go Nistune/remap. -
Dont Buy From Gngtr32 ***warning***
bozodos replied to thrustt's topic in General Automotive Discussion
speaking of headlights, I just bought one on Ebay, had a look there? -
I have a KKR 480 (on a RB25DET), and it sucks arse. I'd be looking maybe a Holset or a Garrett replacement for mine, and given that even highflows can make around the same power as these, why would you bother? Surely you'd almost be going backwards with a NEO motor and one of these turbos as well!

Caveat Emptor anyone? PS i know of 5 mates who'd just about murder their own mothers for a GTS-R, even I'd own one lol. -
I'm pretty sure that both rare and expensive might be a bit of a dampener for you.

What Are You Buying Your Car For Xmas?
bozodos replied to Duncan1's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Just got mine a new RHS headlight, and the middle muffler will be surgically removed (too low for roadworthy with it on!) Maybe a retune in the new year too. -
There is a guy with an Autech one here, looks nice, but slooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow! Sounds effing horrible too, but could be the exhaust on it.

whilst we're on the topic of V8 Skylines, heres an R31 wagon with Holden 5 litre so it obviously is possible! http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=N0oeHpU2zXE http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9RC2rq_mAw

I think it would be a big improvement! mind you, all the Ferarri's I've heard going sound like a sewing machine or electric whippersnipper... I wonder how that HR31 with the VH41 (I think) nissan V8 would go vs a GTR! here's some youtube links lol, what kiwi bogans... http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=B0sb2q7sfAk http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=oTsb0vUhBHo&...feature=related oh and another, though its not of a skyline, its still a nissan v8 lol http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=fZ8Rn0elWrQ&...feature=related

Oh I thought the reliability problems were throughout the whole car! I wonder if a lambo or ferarri motor could potentially fit into a Skyline...
-
So therefore I'd be best off sticking with the OEM one then, rather than trying an aftermarket RB30 replacement?
-
could use a piece of wood to keep it open if you're a tightwad What about say replacement struts for a VP commodore (just having a stab in the dark here) a mate has the same problem on his A31, except it stays open for a little while then bashes him on the head as he goes to remove coil packs etc. always good for a laugh!
-
What is/was the go with those? were they ever a full production car? Terry, there's several Jag's here which have had the original V12 ripped out in favour of a 351 or a Chev - less reliability issues apparently lol.

http://www.autocult.com.au/NewsDetail.aspx?id=1120 ^ Link to article about the 422kw motor. Looks like it's not really all that good value for the money, IMO twin turbo would be a better and more efficient option. This is way off topic, but I just thought I'd clarify further... Look at the end of it, it's his car not mine, and if he wants to drive it like that, well he can afford repairs on it (So far a clutch and a diff in 2 years of ownership, which is testament to how bloody strong thse things are.) Without wanting to waffle on with irrelevance for too long, simply put the gearboxes are VERY strong, don't have a lockout like Skyline boxes and top out at around 90km/h in first IIRC. I DON'T drive my cars like this either, I've never even flatshifted my R32 for fear of wrecking something.
-
so you'd be thinking of say a buick 3.8 finding its way into an R32 V-Spec then Terry? There's a Soarer getting around here which sounds just like my VN actually, been meaning to wave the guy down and ask if it is in fact the original 4 litre! If i had a choice of having an N/A LS1 or a RB26 in mine (assuming you could get AWD to work with the V8) I'd go LS1, purely on cheaper parts and maintenence.

Leaking Slave/clutch Pedal
bozodos replied to Tig's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
The rebuild kit for an aussie R31 won't fit the R32 master, as stated in another thread, I got a Y60 RB30 master for mine for $110 from Nissan which was a perfect replacement (this was with a Stagea box though, so I guess it's the same for the RB20). I suppose if you can get a Skyline one for around the same price, you may as well do that. -
Mine had an improperly adjusted rod, which I at the time thought was the pedal hinge, I just got a heap of grease and greased pretty much all the moving parts apart from the rod, seemed to rid mine of the incidental squeak it had every time the clutch was depressed.
-
I'm pretty sure the LS1 is a lighter motor than any of the RB's. However the alloy blocks have been known to warp slightly under high power conditions.
-
haha they managed to fit a TT LS1 into a VL, I daresay anything's possible these days!
-
my bad, I meant unless on a public road. You'd be an absolute fool to buy any sort of V8 / turbo Ford or Holden and think that it hasn't been driven hard. The newer models seem to have a much stronger gearbox as well as the LS1 being an inherently tougher motor than the old 5 litre. I don't know what planet you're on but its an extremely rare sight to see a new HSV/FPV/SS/XR6T being babied everywhere. I also doubt that a 422kw Maloo is going to be used as a tradie ute either. this is being stupid. [200], and to a lesser extent Floody are just trying to troll the thread into a complete departure from the original topic. Seriously, if you've got nothing else to say than try and patronise me or criticise, don't bother opening the thread.

well with turbo kits being more avalible for V8s maybe we all should
