  1. this thread makes me shiver.. from my experiences, spiders seem to be fond of living in VN side mirrors, and lodge themselves far enough back that even a high pressure hose sprayed right in there fails to dislodge them. Touch wood, i've not seen any in my Skyline but it never gets parked under trees! Fuse boxes also seem to be a nice home for them, have you had a look lately?
  2. vl turbo with 2.5" dose pipe! seriously though, this thread is about cheap drift, IMO thats limiting you to ADM cars - anything imported is going to cost you (and probably a lot) in the way of parts and general maintenence, but its all relative.
  3. is that including flanges?
  4. haha the best way to avoid defects in VIC is to drive my NSW registered VN around when the cops are doing a blitz - straight through exhaust on a V8 = no worries, but pod filters and blow off valves are a menace to society har har har. At least they divert their attention from other things more complicated to replace to clear a roadworthy!
  5. its horrible but beautiful at the same time, makes me wish that Australia had the same lax attitude towards grey imports that New Zealand does!
  6. this isnt a forum to be advertising your car. Added to that, good luck trying to get rid of a Commodore on a Skyline forum (I've tried lol)
  7. a mate got me mine through Cummins truck parts, not sure about the sizes they stock though since I was after a 3" to connect turbo to the dump pipe. Also had to do it up with an imperial size spanner, but it did the job!
  8. well different brands of 98 octane fuel dont reall seem to make much difference in mine except for the ethanol blend fuel - I was forced to use some the other day since the servo's in the town which i live in don't serve normal 98, and the amount of smoke it blew was remarkably less (running a microtech with an obviously very safe tune!) also got noticeably better fuel economy.
  9. you'd have to be mad! the second gear is known to be quite weak for starters and I've seen 3 of these boxes wrecked behind a cefiro and 2 different jap R31's, thats not with sustained abuse at all either. They are apparently only about as strong as the MF5 gearbox which is used in the non turbo VL. It might not help you with the orignal post, but its such a silly idea in the first place, i doubt anyone's been foolish enough to actually try it, Don't be a tightarse and just get a R33 box.
  10. well after plugging in a manual RB20DET ECU into the original loom last weekend, the car spluttered and died, seemed to be the fact that its still all fully wired up, I am considering cutting all of the wires apart from the TPS and power wires, though I'd really like to not have to do that, so has anyone else found an alternative yet?
  11. in mine with stagea RB25 and box and GTS-4 diffs it revs at around 2880rpm at 100km/h and 3060rpm at 110km/h dosen't feel like the engine is revving its tits off (its a pig on fuel anyway so fuel consumption remains at around 18l/100)
  12. if he was filling up with diesel, then he's a smart bloke for wearing gloves, often the pumps are filthy and the handles are covered in shite (esp high flow ones)
  13. The Evo is more a competitor to the GT-R one would think anyway.. if I had the money it would be the one and only Mitsubishi I'd own. Course due to the proliferation of knock off bodykits, it'd be a real sleeper (the lack of neons and bob jane chrome rims could give it away though)
  14. yeah I was looking at some really tidy R33's for around 12k, but just couldn't bring myself to get one knowing that I'd be driving a car which I hate the look of (not to mention the Skyline equivalent of the VN haha), I think maybe the market is saturated with them? Thats my guess anyway.
  15. pics? try uploading some of the engine bay and dash, maybe its a turbo conversion on a N/A car or something.
  16. it would have been the flare that I believe are mandatory to have in a car in Japan. I imagine they have to pull them out when they come over, but a mate managed to scrounge a few from an import wreckers in Adelaide.
  17. you'd get a decent turbo R33 for 12k... try www.autospeed.com.au and searching for various model skylines on there, to at least gain a little bit of background knowledge. One other thing, any grey import car is going to generally cost a fair bit more in maintenence and parts than a car sold in a dealer here, so bear that in mind.
  18. boostcruising is one of the worst forums i've seen full stop - 'hey i've got a VN V6 with paintjob chrome rims and a wicked stezza, only $10k!!!' type place. I was thinking maybe an expansion of the FAQ section, it seems a bit of a shambles at the moment, with maybe a part of it devoted to commonly asked 'noobish' subjects. Some of the information may be misguided, but its usually meant with good intentions, IMO if someone is simply going to reply with 'search', don't bother posting, you may as well make a wordfilter for it with some random image macro, because thats how much use saying that is. anyway thats my attempt at contributing to this thread (in lieu of posting something original and witty like IBTL,, LOL internet etc)
  19. hmm my R32 GTS-4 is listed as a HNR32 on the blue build plate, taking a stab at the probably obvious here, I assume that the prefix has something to do with engine type and rwd/4wd, also the JDM R31s were HR31, as well as the R32 GTST being HR32, so probably not based on year.
  20. VH45DE
  21. thanks a lot for that champ, i'd been searching the tech forum for a guide on a how to!
  22. well if this forum sucked ass none of us would bother posting on it let alone in this thread then!
  23. I had a relay fuse for the fuel pump in the boot, disconnected that and turned her over, due to not being able to read kanji and therefore not knowing which fuse in the block was for the fuel pump.
  24. instead of making a seperate thread, does anyone have a step by step on changing the master cyl? i've got a replacement for mine, just a bit unsure on the process of bleeding and taking the seat out to disconnect the rod from the pedal etc.
  25. yeah this is the best car forum I've seen for informative information (Street Commodores would be up there but I can't get it to register me properly + sheer amount of posts), but I have to admit for full on LOL and trolling factor Calaisturbo wins hands down.
