Whats The Fastest You Have Been In A Car
bozodos replied to Thanks Japan For Nissan's topic in General Automotive Discussion
260 km/h in a VX SS, LS1, Difillipo full exhaust, LS1 edit (i was quite scared at this speed!) 195 km/h in my VN SS (got too scary to handle at those sort of speeds so I backed off) had the GTS-4 off the clock, was around 200km/h, 5000rpm or so, and still had plenty of go left in her, didn't really want to go quicker but felt solid as a rock. All on private roads of course, you'd be mad to try speed trials on a public street. -
You'd probably be thinking of the TB42 petrol engine? IIRC it's a carburetted motor as well.

haha school holidays again? -
Autoglym, especially the Wheel Protectant stuff which comes in a spray can, their wheel cleaner is also more effective than Meguiars (used em at the same time) The best polish I've ever used was some stuff a detailer mate had in bulk, don't know the brand, but so far I'm very impressed with the quality of the Autoglym products.

I'm surprised that anyone would dignify this internet tough guy (Travis Trayhem) with a rational response, shows the maturity of a lot of people on this forum versus a lot of other car forums out there. To the OP : if you lurked moar, you'd realise that this forum isnt about backyard modding (to an extent), and Ebay parts, you have a Skyline, a (reletively) expensive car to buy and run, to my way of thinking there's no point doing things to it on the cheap, may as well sell it and buy something cheaper to run or save up for the good stuff. I think most of the reasons stated why to dissuade him are quite sound btw. If you're dead set on the Ebay route, I suggest you have a look on www.calaisturbo.com.au VL Turbo section - there's multiple threads on Ebay parts and turbos if you have a look around, and the general vibe there is more conducive to those chasing cheap HP. meh I have a KKR turbo which isn't quite the cheapest, but a lot cheaper than a decent turbo, and as I've stated in various other threads, its a POS, and i'm tempted to get rid of it if a cheap OEM replacment can make similar power for cheap, otherwise I'll just save up for a GT3037 (mines been dynoed 240rwkw @ 18psi, and im looking at a retune cause it uses so much damn fuel to get there) I remember a few years ago a guy here had an R33 running a MonstA ebay turbo, cant remember the exact specs, (T70 maybe?) and other Autobarn/Ebay parts, ended up making his 300rwkw with a car which was basically a dyno queen and had no end of hassles with parts and then motors shitting themselves, mainly due with having to use them to their limits to get the output he wanted.

Risk Of Turbo For Green Platers
bozodos replied to dreamaaa's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I'm pretty sure that a Charade is a really bad car to be in if you get into an accident... The blanket ban on all V8s and forced induction here in NSW is ridiculous - you can drive say an EL XR6 with 164kw but a 253 HQ with all of about 80kw is totally illegal! That said though, I don't know of anyone who's brave enough to flout the ban, given the kneejerk reaction brought about by low quality tabloid style newspapers and tv shows and the redneck conservatives who swallow that crap, you're asking for real trouble. I'm waiting until there's another fatal accident involving young men and cars around here, its ironic, last time there was a fatal crash from street racing, everybody was out giving their cars a hiding due to all of the local cops being at the accident scene! On the other hand, the majority of accidents recently have been all old people! -
I know someone who has an S15 Autech, the S15 looks fkn hot, and has the exlusivity factor but don't expect it to be anything resembling quick, i'm talking like this thing gets outpaced by a bog stock VN V6. Hard choice, but I'd personally go the R34.

Do Skylines Really Pick Up Chicks :o ?
bozodos replied to wilorichie's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
lol I dont, just two other Skylines do which are also black lol. I wouldn't bother spending the time and effort I did getting my car to drive past high schools to impress 16 year olds trust me. I have to admire my two mates who got HR31s though, nearly every girl i speak to and most guys hate them with a passion, like puts them on the same level as say an XD Falcon but they both couldn't care less, except when someone says they look just like an aussie one hahaha -
I've seen a red XR8 with a sticker on the back window saying either 'sport', or 'performance' or something suitably stupid enough to make people think it was some 40 year old bogan midlife crisis mobile, which was undercover, as well as a blue XR6 which pulled up an R34 GT-T and had 2 detectives start to search it and the owner at Autobarn one night with a crowd of us watching. The ultra sneaky part of that was the fact that VIC cops tend to be Holden exclusive and the NSW Ford exclusive, at least here. Cops here are quite predictable thankfully and tend to target lowered and loud falcondores for easy defects / impoundments, the sneakiest i've seen apart from civvie camera cars was when they were using their unmarked VZ executive when most of the fleet has been changed over to VE now. A Skyline cop car sounds a little far fetched though.

Do Skylines Really Pick Up Chicks :o ?
bozodos replied to wilorichie's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
my current girlfriend likes old american cruisers mainly, she suggested the other day that i get rid of my 17x10" TE37s and get some 'nice chrome rims' (I've had several girls say this, usually I don't even bother to reply to that statement), needless to say I wasn't thrilled! Most girls i've been with preferred the VN because of it having a loud and rough V8 in it, though after taking my current girlfriend for a drive in both of my cars she's learned to appreciate the handling and turbo power of the Skyline. She says Cefiro's are "cuter", though, go figure! However most girls i see on the street checking my car out are definitely not the kind I'd go for, welll excluding the ones who also drive imports lol. my 16 year old sister tells me that my car looks a little 'sleazy', mainly because there are two wogs in a black R33 and R34 who are continually doing laps past her high school at lunchtimes. If i was sad enough to need a car to 'pull chicks', I would have bought a VX Calais V6, taken the springs out, put some 20" Bob Jane rims on it and a dvd player, cause those are the kinda things your average car ho seems to like. The average age of said car ho tends to also hover around 16-18, semi literate and working at maccas. -
well since my car dosen't have very good midrange on its stereo I tend to listen to music with a heavier emphasis on bass, used to be hardstyle (esp Pharmacy, Dr Willis, Uberdruck etc), but more often than not the current issue of International DJ mag coverdisc, some rap that isn't utter uninspired boring shite, (think Slick Rick, Kool Keith etc), or some Morbid Angel/Immolation/Opeth when I'm driving by myself on the highway. I have however been known to go cruising to various computer game soundtracks, especially Quake 2 and Red Alert lol.
-
Oh I should have added that I went from BKR7E plugs to BCPR6ES when I did the gasket and had this loud whistle start.
-
FYI the VN has leather and the R32 has GTR interior, worlds apart I assure you :3 Well the reaction was about what I expected, yeah there are an awful lot of bogans around here, as well as tossers who think that owning a import automatically makes them drift king lol. TBQH most of my mates were trying to pressure me into buying a Laurel or a Toyota Aristo, soley to be different to the hordes of Skyline owners however mine is the only R32 GTS4 around here, so I can still feel unique I also dont recall saying i was worried about my mates opinion of my car, we give each other shit for the hell of it, its usually not out of jealousy lol. If i were, i'd be getting a PowerFC and getting rid of the 4WD set up right now, or listening to my V8 loving mates and trying to jam an LS1 in there As much as I dislike R33's, i would still go one over a Monaro ;x
-
mine started doing it AFTER i replaced the exhaust manifold gasket, think maybe the V-Band is the culprit, but I noticed that above 12lb or so it dosen't seem to feel like its pulling very hard :S
-
NB: i'm not trying to troll here, just informing the OP about some reasons why he might get bagged from other Skyline/car owners. well I almost bought an R33 based on age/cost of the car, but there were a number of reasons I didnt. I really dislike that model of Skyline mainly because They don't feel as stable on the road as a HR31 or R32 (and yeah I've been in one with a full Tein suspension setup like mine) Common as hell - there's probably 30+ R33's here, I see probably as many R33's as HSV's! (not including GT-Rs) The fact that around here a LOT of R33 owners tend to be really elitist about owning an 'import', and a number who used to completely snob me when I drove only a Commodore now suck up my ass cause I have a Skyline I really don't like the styling, they remind me of the new Monaros! BTW, I get other import owners giving me shit about mine, mainly that it looks like a 'Lebmobile', the fact that it weighs so much more cause of the 4WD, even having a Microtech computer in it!
-
I thought the post about KKR wheel nuts was a joke! I've got one of their turbos, don't think i'll be in a hurry to put any more of their bits on my car. Mine also has chrome nuts on its Ray's wheels, wish they were genuine nuts, cause i'm not paying over 100 bucks for em!
-
*cough* RB25 R32 *cough cough* Well the sunroof isn't the be all and end all of the car, I just have to not be lazy and handwash it, which is a good thing in the end also the R33 didn't come out with a turbo GTS4 if you're into 4WD not to mention the weight difference between the two models, the amount I spend on mine is about the same as my Commodore of the same vintage, and no matter which model you buy Skylines aren't a poor man's car!
-
yeah the R32 for sure! I've yet to see anyone with an R33 here pull chicks with it hahaha, like i said in another thread on pretty much the same subject, try driving a stock example of each and see what suits you better! I personally can't stand the looks of the R33. so I didnt bother test driving any, but if you're stuck between the two models... Sunroofs are overrated, it dosen't leak water except in automatic carwashes, but I can't get the damn thing to retract, only tilt, and it seems to jolt when i shut my door

Kkr 430 Potential? Will Screamer Bolt On It?
bozodos replied to twofortyrida's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I too have a KKR 480, RB25 and a Microtech which is tuned richly, mine is a constant headf**k of exhaust leaks, and a mate with a HR31 running a stock RB25DET NEO with a GT2535 (running stagea stock computer too lol), chomps mine all the time. Its not so much that its laggy (but I reckon a BB turbo would be a fair bit less so), more that it feels like you've got to wring the car's neck to get it moving, and it seems that mine hits around 15psi or so and you can't feel it really pulling anymore (could have something to do with extra kerb weight though lol). I have heard that they have a fair bit of improvment with external gates however. I'm also sceptical about the longevity with these turbos.
