oh the joys of imports. Pretty sure its not the exh manifold on mine, looks pretty solid on there, but will go out n have a poke around the engine bay in a minute, got most of the leaks i can find fixed, just have to do this V-band! I actually thought that KKR turbos were meant to scream on high boost for some reason lol ;s

yeah you could potentially mock up a GTS-4 to GTR spec - but no one would realistically do that would they. GTR badges on anything thats not are lame and tryhard, no matter whats under the bonnet, people look, realise its not the real deal and think 'what a loser'.

hmm well everyone I've known who's owned a modded WRX has had to change gearboxes due to them breaking, one guy i know went through 3 and ended up with a dogbox to cope with the power it was making and his driving, ended up selling it and getting a stock STi to save the hassles and regain driveability! the other thing with the WRX is well have a look in the engine bay of the damn thing! not exactly the most user friendly area of the car! Another issue I noticed with them was that the interiors seem to be kinda cheap looking. I havent heard of anyone i know having trouble with their 180's/Silvias apart from drift damage lol. IMO, if you're after a hoonmobile get a 180/Silvia, if you just want a quick stocker get the WRX (mind you you'll also have to deal with people calling you habib hahaha)

Used Perf Parts From/in Japan
bozodos replied to 13Beast's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
don't quote me on this, but there was another thread not all that long ago about Import Monster and Yahoo Japan, I think you need to be fluent in Kanji to read it or something to that effect? -
have you considered an R32, or even an HR31 if you can stand the body shape, RB20 uses a lot less fuel than an RB25, as for looks well thats up to your own opinion, I personally think that the older models handle and drive better as well.

which sort of hoses specifically, cooler ones? i've got a new v-band to put on as well, hope that might fix it too
-
hmm mine does that as well, i thought it was normal :S only started happening after we replaced the shitty aftermarket manifold gasket with a genuine one, to get rid of a shocking exhaust leak.

+1 for Fujitsubo catback, I just had one muffler taken off and replaced with straight pipe as the welds on the pipe were stuffed, and it's still quiet as hell, think I'll ditch the other one too

from experience, it's easier to unbolt the bracket holding the coilpacks in, but make sure not to overtighten it when putting it back on like I did, snapping the head off one of the bolts in the process I also don't bother to take the entire coilpack harness off, there's plenty of room to work around it.

HPR 15 is what I put in my VN lol. I use Castrol EDGE 5w/30 mainly because its the closest grade to factory (7.5w/30) and at 50 bucks for 5 litres, quite cheap too, which enables me to service on 5000km religiously.

R32 Rb20det Clutch Leaking
bozodos replied to ashr32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
how do you remove it without spilling hydraulic fluid out of the cylinder everywhere though? -

hmm i know a guy who works at a hydraulics place actually, might ask him about it if nissan are just going to subcontract it out -
R32 Rb20det Clutch Leaking
bozodos replied to ashr32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yeah second on that one, Im told that the master cyl for the R32 is the same part as the aussie R31, can anyone confirm this? Mine is also leaky, i have to refill the tank every week and I'm sick of it! -
8th August Friday Narre Krispy Kreme Cruise *new Thread*
bozodos replied to THR34T's topic in Archived Events
yeah was good to meet a couple of other skyline drivers from melb n to check out the cruising scene in the south east, pity my car was running like a dog ended up losing everyone after sandown n followed a bunch of evo's and supras around for a while lol. -
Terry, it was mentioned in another thread on here not all that long ago, IIRC it was in the importing vehicles section?
-
weren't HKS opening up a couple of places here which could tune the F-Con or something to that effect?
-
yeah I get that too, pretty sure its from the tuning of the car, if your cat is gutted that would likely contribute as well.
-
all my mates keep trying to get me to go with a PowerFC or a remap, wish I had either instead of a Microtech, they are really ordinary (at least in a skyline)

8th August Friday Narre Krispy Kreme Cruise *new Thread*
bozodos replied to THR34T's topic in Archived Events
Yeah i'll make an effort to head down there, can someone give me an approximate address so i know roughly where to head plz? Or will that be on the map? -
if its a RB20 box then very likely its soon going to completely shatter a gear and you'll have to get it towed with you holding the clutch in the whole way. I know this because I've seen it happen 3 times in 3 different cars with the RB20 box. They aren't very strong at all, and second gear crunching seems to be the start of the hassles, like 4th in mine does
-
hahaha or an aussie made skyline maybe? I guess if you're going to put knock off rims on your skyline then you probably also buy autobarn 'performance' products.
-
a mate has the GT Auto Spoiler off a HR31 on his aussie spec sedan, looks pretty good, and another has the East Bear GTS-R spoiler for his coupe, they look great with kits, but as we found when researching, R31 House (via Powerplay Imports) was the only place we could find for R31 specific stuff, if you luck out you might find some second hand stuff on the R31 forums.
-
lol its one of those things though isn't it - some people have the $ to go all out, some dont and want to get a similar look/performance increase for cheap, and others are happy with plain jane stock wheels! I have te37's but even if I didnt, I think id prefer stockers to rip offs, its like buying a fake handbag for your signifigant other and trying to pass it off as the real thing imo

been seeing a nice R34 GTT on sydney road every morning on my way to trade school, NSW rego as well, looks nice. ps lol @ the Calaisturbo tool of the week bragging about street racing, funny how as soon as I hop in my Skyline every other commodore driver seems to be overcome with the need to compensate for something

Rb25det Whistling Noise On Part To Mid Throttle
bozodos posted a topic in Engines & Forced Induction
The other day I noticed that my RB25DET motor started making this horribly loud whistling sort of noise, which seems to come on on just a little bit of throttle (~10hg vacuum or so), and then goes away when I floor it (at about 4-7psi it stops and goes back to normal). I checked all the vacuum hoses I could see, and tightened up a few intercooler pipes which were loose, a mate reckons that it could either be an exhaust manifold or v bend on the exhaust leaking, due to the fact that I've got a KKR 480 turbo on it, and they are prone to this? Has anyone else had the same problem? I tried searching but the threads it came up with weren't really applicable to my dilemma. It dosen't seem to have gotten any worse, its more just embarassing driving around in a Skyline that sounds more like an EA Falcon! Im hanging out until I go home next week (500km away) to get this looked at as it dosen't seem to be getting any worse or affecting how the car drives, but I thought I'd ask on here in case its something mind bogglingly simple to fix!
