  1. Do you lift as much as your girls Markos? those meals look hella expensive Trozzle for small servings, but it may suit your lifestyle yada yada yada, me, well I can eat the same thing for lunch err'day for a week, so tend to do that.
  2. I like the pseudo scientific 'stats' and "university studied" claims on some (despite the fact that only one component may have been studied for another reason 20 years ago), as well as the endorsement from guys who are obviously not natural.
  3. http://ausbb.com/bulk-nutrients/23192-good-bad-ugly-must-read-if-you-buy-wpi-wpc.html Granted it's from a company that sells supplements, but they do have scans of their own tests on their products on their website as well. And to do another study that bags out the other local producers (well some of them) to me says that they have a lot of confidence in their own product. Wish I had the scans of the Optimum Nutrition products that someone had done on Bodybuilding.com that showed Gold Standard had a higher protein content than the super expensive Hydrowhey lol. I'm also interested in the spin behind supplement products Markos, as it is quite incredible.
  4. This. At the end of the day, I'm having it to supplement my protein intake, not for a tasty milkshake (though it helps if it is palatable). Not many getting around with actual verified lab results.
  5. Dan I WAS paying $50 for 2lb of ON Gold Standard, til I started having 2 shakes a day. If I were to get sucked into the bro marketing of the local supplement shop, I'd be paying ~$80 a kilo for Max's or Dymatize stuff! Yeah the BN is $100 for 5kg of WPC.
  6. I got some Horleys Crossfire the other day, tastes pretty good, but worth $110 for 3kg? Not really because I'd rather have the BN product that does the same thing (albeit not as tasty) for cheaper.
  7. I had a mate reccomend me a program with 'swole' in the title the other day lol I do find it amusing how Bodybuilding.com have all these plans on their website (that naturally include an entire stack of 10 or so supplements for a beginner), yet they get ripped to shreds on their own forums!
  8. I've started taking GABA mainly for a trial - got it for the mrs who sleeps like crap. So far so good, its been working really well on the two of us! The main problem is the danger of sleeping in!
  9. Markos, do you have a guide on body recomp in one of your newsletters, I've started reading through them, but there's a few to get through!
  10. did 20x110 and 20x100, certainly got the blood pumping! Also ditched the pussy pad.
  11. I thought Tolga rage quit this thread again...
  12. note I said ON, not that I was going to get the console, I've already got both.
  13. no I'm being totally serious about the pad, genuinely curious
  14. One more question Markos, is there an advantage to squatting without a pad?
  15. Mildura FIGJAM. Yeah I agree Markos, I've looked into Crossfit (in the interests of being open minded), and did not like what I saw, except from those who were already strong and bored of doing regular weights training, not a fan.
  16. I should add, when my gymbros compared the Markos method to Crossfit, it was not meant to be derisive, they were referring to the 'proper' type of Crossfit where they concentrate on strength training, not the timewasting one. I'd like to do the PTC method, but it would mean training by myself, so I'll keep it in mind for when if eventually I have to. I'll try eating a bit more though to keep the calories up.
  17. ahh that's the kind of explanation i was looking for, thanks Trozzle! I also agree - I'm not trying to lose a shitload of weight fast and look like a skinnyfat POS!
  18. ah yeah, I'm not really dedicated to the whole calorie counting - I just make sure that I eat protein at every meal, and a decent amount of it!
  19. Well naturally I want to get stronger, I also want to look strong, not like a fat fark. That said, I'm not after Zyzz like aesthetics that come from an extremely controlled diet and juicing. I could be wrong, but are you getting at eating at maintenence and then working really hard to get your body to burn fat? Is this what it's all coming down to? The science says that doing some high intensity cardio in conjunction with weight training = more hypertrophy and strength, and it makes me feel better. 20 minutes a day should not be going over the top!
  20. well not really... my questions still haven't been answered to my satisfaction! study showing that doing heavy weight training will preserve more lean body mass than doing cardio alone for anyone that is interested (yes I know it's an extreme calorie deficit etc) http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10204826
  21. You're a lot more supportive of the Markos method - I also thought you were an IIFYM devotee! You guys have inspired me to squat heavier today rather than just cruising on 120 too.
  22. yeah when I mentioned no frills gym with no machines or classes, and high intensity workouts focusing on functional strength, and linked to your website, the reaction I got was 'lol sounds like crossfit'. Doesn't really faze me, I'm still not convinced on any one methodology for training yet, because I haven't tried them all, and I'm still a beginner. I only dislike Crossfit because of the amount of injuries, cult like mentality and, how everyone who does it thinks that every other training regime is a complete waste of time and clearly inferior. Birds you seem to have really changed your tune lately btw
  23. yeah I've been mulling over whether to pre order on PS3 or 360
  24. Well Markos, I'd be really keen on training at your gym if I lived in Melbourne, I do find your methods and convictions interesting - I mentioned your thoughts on lifting etc to my gymbros, they reckon it sounds like Crossfit! We're about to try a really high intensity circuit style method of training next week - though if I were training alone, I'd probably do something like Starting Strength until I could at least have a good enough base to try the more advanced stuff. With all of this talk about eating to get strong / big etc, and your earlier comments about trying to eat at a calorie deficit and get stronger being akin to treading water, do you accept those trying to lose fat and THEN gain strength and aesthetics, or do you only take those who are trying to get bigger? I like my 20 minutes of high intensity cardio post workout, not a fan of running beforehand though. I found 2 weeks of doing that has done more for me than the 2 months of walking I'd done beforehand. As for squatting 2x bodyweight, that would make me the heaviest squatter in the gym (as far as I know) lol. Not all that impressive though given that most would rather do leg press / extensions than heavy squats.
  25. interesting re: cardio - this is one of the things where the advice is literally so opposite and confusing that I can understand why Leesh feels frustrated. Do cardio, don't do cardio, do HIIT, do steady state, do it before training, do it after etc etc. FWIW I do 20 minutes of intervals after training at the moment simply for cardiovascular health. I thought the whole cardio kills gains thing was disproven :S
