  1. thats what I mean shan, those things are worth a fortune!
  2. you can overclock them all to the same sort of threshold, so don't go too much on how much the factory o/c is
  3. ohh I dunno, one of my workmates has an EVGA overclocked 480, he's overclocked it a bit more, but that's in a HAF X case which has awesome cooling, and the sheer size and heat of it (it burns your fingers after being on for a couple of minutes!), as well as insane power draw puts me well off. To put it more succinctly, 2x 1gb 460's with a bit of an overclock are going to use less power, generate less heat, and outperform 1 480, for at least 100 dollars less if you don't have an SLI capable motherboard well you can either wait to see what high end GF104 based card Nvidia will bring out, go the ATI option, or buy a new motherboard of course!
  4. did you pay a farken arm and a leg for it?
  5. true, you do seem to be pretty flush most of the time tho lol, i'm going i5 in my build, don't really see the benefit in socket 1366.
  6. you're not passing on anything, you're just rambling like you're pissed drunk tbqh
  7. yeah this is enterprise edition, should have been more specific.
  8. cuda is good for transcoding, and yeah you wouldn't buy a card purely cause it has physx, tbqh im surprised you haven't lashed out on a new system yet ash
  9. WaW was awesome, especially multiplayer, why do people hate on it so much
  10. nah you need to be there for 3 months I think Div, PC Case Gear in my researching are the cheapest, occasionally you can find slightly cheaper prices through StaticICE, but that could be at any shonky vendor online. TBQH, the ATI drivers suck donkey balls, and that alone was enough to make me look at a Nvidia solution. Pretty much all of the 460's on the market run some kind of aftermarket cooling, and yes most can be overclocked up to a 5870 spec, but you get less power consumption, noise and you do get the dubious benefit of CUDA and PhysX. Things get even better in SLI, but that's not applicable to this build. No point buying hardware that's already well out of date.
  11. a couple of the sysadmins were arguing about that the other day, apparently the Server 2003 (iirc) can only actually address 4GB of ram I think it was, even though Microsoft says it supports something like 8? I digress though. Why didn't you just build a games machine?
  12. well tbqh, spending over 200 bucks on a GTX 260 is quite frankly insane when even the 768mb 460 is the same price. Low power consumption too. However if you're willing to spend a tad more, you can get the 1gig version, most of which come with factory overclocks up to around 5850 like performance. IMO on such a tight budget i'd stick with the AMD, given their quad core is 100 bucks less than the equivalent i5.
  13. haha agree with GT-R seats being the comfiest I've ever sat in. When I had my SS as well as the R32, hopping into the the Statesman seats in it felt like sitting on boards (especially with the lack of any decent bolstering) compared to the GT-R seats. I also drove mine 1000km home from sydney, only problems were from my head constantly bashing the roof!
  14. blowing it out to start with won't harm it btw, just make sure the fans don't free spin to avoid wrecking the bearings in them.
  15. cause they are wankers. Also fark that, console online gaming is shithouse with a 1.5mb internets
  16. neither of those old hat video cards. Go a GTX 460 1GB, the Gigabyte ones are $279 at PC Case Gear (im using one in my build, maybe SLI later). I'm also using the Antec 300 case, no gimmicky shit FTW.
  17. that was a serious comment to the OP actually,
  18. sense, you're not making any.
  19. RB20 heads are shit on RB30 fyi
  20. well why are you blathering on about motorbikes then!? It's alright, we make allowances for Yanks and the fact that they are a little bit slow here
  21. PROTIP: this is a Skyline forum
  22. R33 has a f**king nasty rear end, and generally I like the bigger things in life. Also coming from a VL, your opinions in styling are invalid LOL.
  23. also there's a very similar thread ATM in general automotive discussion. No, only GT-R's came with a factory front mount intercooler. Chances are it was fitted in japan, so you likely lucked out there
  24. pretty sure the angles of the flanges is different, but don't quote me on that. Could also try cutting the old cat where the gasket *was*, sounds like a pain in the arse, but might help you out, may as well bash it out while you're going
  25. daniel, can you give me a complete breakdown of your car washing process to get that finish please! That's simply awesome. Not sure if my paint would ever look that good, but it's worth a try given the results you have gotten!
