V36 Window Problem - Key Not Detected?
Haxorz replied to Haxorz's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
Changing the battery key is pretty straightforward... instructions in the log books (which I have in Jap and in English) if you have them. I linked to the PDFs in another thread. I'm no expert though, mine still says empty... either I stuffed it or the watch battery joint sold me a flat battery! Will try again with another. -

Anyone know how to change the thread title to include the text [sOLUTION] P.S. The key issue was a red herring. -
V36 Window Problem - Key Not Detected?

SOLUTION!! Called my compliance workshop who have encountered this a few times. What has happened is my car lost memory of the position of the windows. Those who have V36's will know how clever this system is (with the way it opens the window just a crack when opening/closing, etc). To fix; 1. Jump inside the car and start it. 2. Hold the window switch all the way up for 1m30s. The window should go all the way back up. 3. Hold the window switch all the way down. The window should go all the way down. 4. Hold the window switch all the way up again. The window should go all the way up, but it may stop halfway (thinking that it's at the top already). Just release and hold up again so it learns the new 'top'. 5. Stop car and exit vehicle. 6. Test window. Repeat if necessary, and on other window if required. -
V36 Window Problem - Key Not Detected?

Further information... this only started occurring when I returned to the car from 3 weeks holidays. During that time I had disconnected the negative terminal on the car battery (to stop it from draining). When I first went to close the drivers door, it made a weird clicking/locking noise and the door wouldn't engage. I then reconnected the car battery and then it worked. I wonder if I've somehow confused the thing? Note this is an Dec 2007 build V36 SP with 13,000kms. -
Hi guys, I've got a problem with my V36. Everytime I leave the car it automatically winds the windows down. I also have the key battery alert warning on. The thing is I've already changed the battery but it still says 'battery low'. My guess on what's happening is that it's not detecting that I'm taking the key out of the car, so it winds down the windows so I don't lock my keys in (just like it cleverly does with the boot). Obviously I can't leave my car parked out on the street with the windows wound down. It also does this with my passenger window if I enter that side. Any suggestions? Has anyone successfully changed a battery or have experienced something similar? David.

Agreed re: servicing. They're very anti R35 JDM at the moment because it had the potential to cripple new car sales (I was looking at importing an R35 JDM for around $125k OTR, vs $187k ADM). As if them not servicing it would have stopped me saving $60k. Parts however would have been a bitch... although I've been getting my R34 bits ex-Japan, my rear bar was about a 3 week wait so not too bad really. I also agree re: parts, they'll start supplying at some stage as it's more revenue - but right now (well 6 months ago) they stood to gain far more revenue by shunning the JDMs and selling ADMs). These guys see the imports a huge threat to their jobs. Geoff from Prestige was telling me that Nissan were campaigning very heavily about stopping these.
-
Yes as stated previous Nissan Australia (well, at least FTG Nissan in Victoria) will not help at all with servicing, parts for JDM and the sales guys mention several times taking VDC off will void the warranty. However, in the forms you have to sign if you buy the car it does mention you can turn VDC off if your car becomes bogged and is needed to free it.

Ideally we'd have a screenshot of each screen with English translations. Not a trivial task of course. On the plus side each screen has an ID number in the manuals, we can use that to refer to them. I bought a set of Infiniti manuals from eBay US. Much easier than flipping through print outs in the car (I found them too lengthy to do from memory). I suppose an iPad might be OK. Note - the US English manuals aren't a 1:1 with the Jap menus, although they are more similar than they are different. -

Hey I paired mine by working it out using the English manuals I posted up. Obviously I can't remember it exactly as it was a few weeks ago, however, the first button I pressed was 'Settings' (the button that takes you into the menu where the first menu item is the Audio settings (Bass etc) - NOT the menu that takes you into that VICS stuff (which I have no idea what it is) Once you've pressed 'Settings', then press 'Phone'. It's the first or second selection on the 2nd column / right hand side. You'll know you're in this sub-menu because you can see the English word 'Bluetooth'. One of the Japanese words on this menu is 'Pair phone'. I can't remember which one exactly, I think it's one under 'Bluetooth', however (again from memory) it's one that takes you to a different screen that has a number entry thing on it. This is where you set the passcode. I just left it as 1234. On this number entry screen one button is 'go back/cancel/delete (number)' and the other is 'OK' (I suppose). After pressing 'OK' a little dialog box comes up with Jap text and the words 'MY-CAR'. This must say something to the effect of 'Please put your device on discover mode and search for MY-CAR'. I put my phone in discover mode and it connected. I can make calls with it just fine, but when people call me it hangs up after one ring. I have no idea why it does that and I'd love to fix that one. Hope the above helps. Corrections welcome. -
Note - the Jaycar ones are like $50 AUD!

My port looks like that, but I don't have the cable. Nor the 'BOSE for Skyline' badge, even thought I have the BOSE stereo (SP model). Mines all Infiniti badging anyway. BTW am in touch with a company in NZ that makes the band expanders - only $30 NZ delivered for very high quality ones. Still need to work this out: 'Also I would need to know what type of antenna plug is in the back of the radio unit eg. A single plug or a twin pin plug as these model vehicles varied." Anyone know?
-
Yes. Speaking of which, has anybody done this to a V36? Would be good to know what adaptor is required. Apparantly the V35 is a little different. Assuming you can buy these from Jaycar, have also seen some made in NZ ones too. My port looks the same as the US one but to be honest I don't know.
-
Thanks for the info. I was still thinking of taking it somewhere, as I want to fit a band expander and wire in a USB charger for my Tom tom while I'm at it. Maybe even do an iPhone charger (apparently even with the iPod cable the 3GS won't charge) and talk to them about wiring in a little set top box (for TV).

I haven't... yet... There is one V36 compliance shop in Syd and in Brissy. I don't know the Syd one but if you find out you can try them. Otherwise I would have thought any auto elec should be able to do it. My brother (a shop fitter, not a mechanic) did my R34. I was quoted $100 or 150 for this once from memory... seemed a little high for what most guys can do themselves (except for me, being a very unhandy man). I was told easiest way to do is to put the car up on a hoist and remove the wheel to gain access through behind the front 1/4 fender. Taking off the front bumper is NOT recommended - it can stuff up the airbag sensors (even with the car off).

Hey thanks for the info. Do you know the specific menu steps? i.e. 1. Press 'Settings' 3. Select phone (item 3/8 on menu) 4. Select pair (item 2/7 on menu) 5. Wait for pairing. etc ? -
Have figured it out. My workshop told me the right one does not swivel right as to not interfere with oncoming traffic when turning right. Makes sense and consistent with the Japanese pic in my manual. My error is most probably just because the Xenon bulbs are missing.
-
Does anyone know how to do it? I'm trying to figure it out and will post the menu sequence once I have done it. I can get into the phone menus, find a few Bluetooth settings such as setting the PIN etc but that's about it. Cheers, David.

Still need to test the limitations of the compact flash so I know what size card to buy. Obviously I want the biggest one that it can use. I read there is a 512 file limit ... so at say 4-8meg an MP3 that's 2-4GB card. Haven't verified this though.

Yes - a great find! Very keen to hear some solutions to fix the TV. Best thing I've thought of so far is getting an Auto Elec to wire in a tiny set top box and plug it into the AV jacks. Would have to use it's remote/controls though, but then again, I don't expect to watch much TV. Unsure how to attach an aerial for this or how to hook into the stock one. Still trying to pair my phone too...

Hey guys, Just found all of the V36 Skyline manuals in English. http://www.infinitiusa.com/ownership/manua...e&year=2008 Boy it makes navigating around the system easier! Enjoy! David.
