  5. Milton 22:30 eh...*rubs chin* ...I'll see you there.
  6. ROFL I might pop into the SUBWAY carpark at Aspley for some food LOL If anyone's going out, when are you gonna be there? PM me because no doubt I'll be bored - I'm always up for a drive Michael
  7. LOL same situation here...normally I just say a jap car or a nissan. Then it alllll begins...guess i'm just waiting for them to say oh....you're one of thoooossse people LOL but apparently without my knowing it actually worked for me once. I took her (her being X) for a drive and apparently she had wanted to jump me since (*blush on behalf of pretty car*) - so now being an ex - I guess it says a lot for her character :lmao:
  8. that's gonna keep me going for the rest of the working week... What the hell is that guy in the background trying to do with that rattle gun?
  9. I think it's called PDR??? (Paintless Dent Removal) Don't know too much about it though. I went to Eurobody in Taringa. They quoted ballpark 200 per dent incl paint & labour. and their paint-matching is awesome
  10. I was there at some point last week. It was me with my 32, and 2 friends both with 180's, and I had some wank screaming out of the BACK SEAT (I guess the wanker doesn't even own a f***ing car) of an old, beaten-to-shithouse Torana (that sounded Terrible :bang: ) take you're f***ing skyline home poofter or something to that very tune. Then they tried to impress me by doing a one wheel line lock (and no it was so very far from impressive) while yelling 'let's see your f***ing skyline do that'... It's really the quality of character that makes me want to go back there :inlove: So to answer your question in a word - no - tis no better Michael
  11. I'm nearly certain that if you go for a metal head gasket, you'll also need to get the head & block's touching surfaces machined (this makes for a perfect fit). You don't need to be this finniky (spelling?) if using a standard head gasket (about 135 from Nissan). IMHO you'd only need to go to a metal gasket if you were running a lot of boost. Please feel free to disagree if anyone feels I'm talking thru my arse (ie- pls correct me if I'm wrong). Cheers, Michael

    head gasket

I did mine in the warmth of my garage with Slip. Next time I'm using an engine crane to take the head off. eerghh
  13. I pulled these settings down from someone's post when I did my head gasket: These are for an RB20DET (i don't know if it's the same for a 'DE') ______________________________________________________________ Head torque settings These are the specs I used on my own last rebuild as supplied by Hytech engines Head is torqued down in 5 stages. 1. 22ftlbs 2. 72ftlbs 3. slacken off 4. 22ftlbs 5. 75ftlbs or 90o Engine torque setting Main bearing torque 40ft/lbs Big end bearings..... also 40ft/lbs
  14. U need: 10 mm hecs piece that's long enough to fit down to the bolts...I bought an L-Shaped one (because I couldn't find any other), and cut the end of it off (so I had one straight 10mm hecs bolt). Stuck that in a 10mm socket, attached that to a breaker bar piece, added a few extension pieces (so I had an arm about 50cm long - the more leverage the easier it is), and with a little effort, they came out. It's just the initial cracking of the thread that's difficult. If you don't have a breaker bar, you could use a ratchet on the 10 mm piece with a metal pipe over the handle of the rathet for extra leverage. Best of luck... If you need any more help u can email me and I should be able to reply fairly promptly. Cheers, Michael
  15. indeed...once you're done you're left with a block in an engine bay pretty much it's strange seeing the engine bay like that...but still kinda cool
  16. To take it to a workshop, it'll cost you around $1000 to get done...mostly labour costs. If you're keen you could give it a go yourself (or if you have a friend with a bit of know-how ), but it's a fairly big job. You won't need to replace the head if you haven't cooked it. The gasket is about $120 from Nissan, and proabaly needs to be ordered in. While you're at it, replace your head/exh. manifold gasket too. this is around $115 from Nissan. Check that none of the studs are snapped (head/exh.manifold). If they are you'll more than likely need to get them easy-outed. I had 3 snapped studs, and this cost me about $80 for someone to come out and do it while I had the head off. The studs are around $4 each The gaskets on the exhaust side of the engine are more expensive due to the heat they need to put up with. Intake is cheap For the pain it'll save down the track from having an old gasket, you might as well do the intake runners/head gasket too as it's only a $15 gasket (again from Nissan). Good Luck Michael
  17. I was going to add that very line to the end of the thread but it came up early... I've had mostly positive experiences with cops, but that's probably because until recently I've only gone thru big RBT's (had the 32 for 24mths). About 2 months ago I got pulled over and was treated like a f**kin junkie theif scum...pissed me off...I hadn't even thought to ask for their badge numbers to make a complaint. When they got out of their car I they wouldv'e seen my silhouette (not the car) leaning toward the passenger side (to get my ****ing license out of my bag), and they stalled...then the second guy got out of the car. The driver of the car (I could've sworn) that he had his hand on his gun ready to pull it out. The second cop had pulled out his maglite and already had that shining on my car. Long story short, no ticket, no evidence, cranky cops, and a confused me.
