  1. Happy birthday Chris quite the few SAU Birthdays in Nov isn't there
  2. Love the avatar snowy
  3. I pulled out the shifter last night and the bush was still intact ... oddly enough it had just fallen out i had to fish it out. Put the bush back in, and reassembled and now all sorted Cheers for all the help from SteveL and grigor
  4. Thanks kiddies Even though I had to work on my birthday, I did get to have lunch with 2 girls and i got to meet Mr Webber down at Fed Square. A birthday to remember the cake on Saturday was awesome. I'll put pics up tonight
  5. Cheers for that Steve I'll pull it out when I get home.
  6. Cheers Steve, I've attached a pic of the linkage. Is the nylon bush yu are talking about the nylon part in the pic surrounding the ball joint? You can always count on SAU for folk up in the middle of the night keen to swing a spanner or 2 Quicktime movies didn't turn out. not enough light
  7. Well this takes all of the cars off the road again so I need help ASAP Please read on... Car: R32 GTST, RB20DET, 120xxx km, Gearbox not abused, Exedy Hybrid Clutch (2800lb Pressure plate), thrust bearing worn. From the top: *Coasting towards a set of traffic lights in 3rd *gently shifted to 2nd (i blip the throttle to match RPM on downshift) and *coasted to a near stop before the lights went green (doing ~15-20kph at this time) *Gently applied throttle (15-20%) and shifter felt odd. *Then wouldn't engage 3rd easily *Tried to shift back to 2nd and wouldn't engage. *Left it in Neutral and pulled over to the roadside. My first thought was that it was clutch related, but there was no slipping/stench. I checked the fluid level in the clutch master and it is almost full (5mm from Full mark). Then i noticed the movement in the shifter: When engaged in any gear or in Neutral it has ~2" (from the top of the shifter) movement forwards and backwards, and almost the same amount laterally. Reverse would barely engage/disengage, but i was only around the corner so i managed to get it home and into the shed. Checked the gearbox mounts and they are intact / not torn. I've pulled the seals/covers off the linkage from inside the cabin to have a look. there was a bit of oil/grease around the last seal (when removed you can see the linkage). I don't know if this is normal or not? Looking at the linkage the play can easily be seen. I'll try and take a short Quicktime movie with my camera and post it up so you can see exactly what i'm on about. But any help / suggestions won't go unappreciated. Rather desperate for suggestions atm. life without a car on the road sux Cheers, Michael
  8. haha the top of the page reads: "Having trouble reading your datalog files? Sick of converting numbers to graphs in Excel?" Sums it up in one thanks for that. Michael
  9. heh...more to the point..it's shagged Seemed to be either connections in the afm or the loom. as kaz said the data logging showed the afm voltage would drop off (showed 0.5V) just before the car stalled. Voltage specs also didn't match what was detailed in engine manual when cranking / idling etc (idle should show 1.1V and I can't remember the others off the top of my head). Swapped it with a friend's AFM and logged it, and it showed everything as it should be. The data logging function + the engine manual together are invaluable I just needs to find a better program to graph the data logged (excel is terrible unless you've taken a really short sample). Any suggestions would be great
  10. i watched it live on Fox and the coverage was far from brilliant IMO But despite that it was fun to watch. I hope that the Jap driver is OK. They didn't have any footage of what caused the crash, or the initial impact, but it didn't look pretty.
  11. Thanks Peter...Works a treat
  12. as the good baron said, natural light and airflow Also plenty of bench-space and power outlets. i like the compressor-in-a-box idea too
  13. we've had some spanker in a VX calais roasting up our street this week...sometimes you just wish you had tyre spikes you could deploy with the push of a button

    Its A Girl!

    Congrats guys, great news
  15. i read another article in the paper the other day which said something to the effect of 'after a third offence the car can/will be confiscated and sold at police auction, and if the car belongs to someone else they can apply for compensation'...it also went on to say the laws were aiming to "hit them where it hurts". stupid really, they should just have more cops patrolling on the lookout for dickheads. Maybe cops who actually follow up reports <_<
  16. memories of Goonies coming back to me
  17. I'll try and get a pic tonight for you
  18. It sounds like you really need to change your attitude, or your going to find yourself not welcome on SAU. Trying to insult folk who have been around here for a while will not make you any friends. Before your next post, ask yourself....'what would Brian Boitano do?' anyway...enough of this thread for me
  19. HAHA nice job Chris
  20. it's a white 2-pin plug. I think the plug has a splash of yellow on it from memory? As for the other end of the plug, you'll find it if you pull out the stereo loom. It's in here somewhere
  21. how many km are on the rotors?

    Stolen 180sx

what sort of car was in the footage?
  23. i average 250-300km per tank but i think my O2 sensor is shagged and needs to be replaced.
  24. if this turns into *another* BOV vs no BOV thread i think i'm going to kill myself <_< If you want to take the bov off as mentioned already it'll only be held in by a couple of of bolts. Once it is off, you will need a plate to block off the original outlet, and you'll need to seal up the hose that plubs back into the inlet tract.
