The pumps were supposed to be staged to stop the fuel getting hot. One of the first thing that was looked at when I first went to the shop , I was asked where the surge tank was and when I showed him, he said feel the surge tank and it was pretty hot Does hot fuel interfere with the tune, could this be a reason it was spiking on 85. it was OK on 98 ? -

Thanks for the info, Insight are pretty thorough and I am sure he will make sure this does not happen again, he said this VVVVVVVVV "The only way I can fix properly is to pull the surge tank apart and fit a wiring bulkhead that will allow 4 wires. Then I can run a second relay to trigger the second pump. This will reduce the cooking issue as on cruising the car will not be pumping both in surge tank pumps all the time. I can control it coming on only when needed and on prime to ensure it is always turning on." They also changed from the stock fuel rail, put in a Plazmaman Billet fuel rail and changer the regulator , they went right through the fuel system and I asked them to change what they thought was necessary . I would think the top end power will be similar, maybe a bit less, I have been told their Dyno reads a little lower than most. But it should still give an idea how it is performing down low . -

HI James Taking a bit longer than expect as always. The Crank Trigger kit is in . Have the turbospeed working, also the variable cam tracking very well. Have the engine protection modes for fuel pressure. The fuel system was worse than expected , I thought the pumps were staged but turns out they were all running at the same time and cooking the fuel, each at around 18amps I think, but it only had a 40 amp fuse that was in melt down stage (pic), not a good look , but now have separate control over the surge tank pumps -8 lines were run all the way from the surge lines to the motor. They also found a wire was hanging by a thread in the surge tank (pic), not sure what would have happened if that completely broke free , could have been bad I think? Should be on the rollers this week and I guess we will see what happens. It will be a good comparison between the PT6266 and the EFR8374 , I will post both before and after Dyno graphs, except now it has a crank kit onboard but should be interesting to see how it feels on the road, from my limited experience the Dyno does not tell the full story until you drive the car and I cannot wait The boys are bring it up on the weekend all going well, so I had better empty the recycle bin and buy half a slab of beef , lol I am sure the boys will have something to say about the new performance by the time they get here after 300 KLms , the last 54Klms is a good road to feel how it is all working around some twisties etc, just hope the rain has gone by then, let you know -

Borg Warner EFR Series Turbo's V 2.0
Nismo 3.2ish replied to Piggaz's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Yeah , it was suggested that I go to the 9180 and it would still be a little better than the 6266, I would not have gone to the expense for " a little better " trying for " a lot better " but I am sure the 9180 would have been a better turbo for most people with this type of build but I have been doing everything to get the best early response from my car. Everything has been checked out, had a Turbo Speed sensor fitted, a full fuel system upgrade from the surge tank lines to the motor, fabrications to fit 8374 with oil and water lines done and a crank trigger. Everything should be sweet, well? ish! I am sure when it is finished and tuned, it will be set up as safe as can be and I will watch the rest. I am not after numbers and most things I have done have lowered the top end from what it could have been, it is totally a street car. -

That's a bit harsh old mate , but I have turned the wheels on mine, lol Yours reminds me of a Merry Go Round where the horses go up and down , but the Pigmoblie is on a hoist Stay home tomorrow , there are no Oysters left in Wallis Lakes, sorry -

That's terrific on a 2.8, I do not get that on E85 , I top out at 461 AWKW /618awhp on a 3.2 with Vcam, but more torque x 2 ish, well done My 8374 is bolted on, so should have some results in a couple of weeks, waiting for the Crank Trigger. -

I have searched and cannot find anything much about the Kulig trigger kit, have you heard of it. There is heaps on the Ati balancer. Do you have first hand experience of the difference the trigger made to your or your mates car. I got a graph from Paul and it looks much smoother. I am sure if the timing is sound the motor is at its best -

Thats why I wondered why it wasnt done but thought if they thought it did not need it, it was one less thing to pay for. But after listening to a few blokes and reading up on it, I asked to have it done while the car was in. -

Thanks I have had trouble finding anything on it but my daughter busted her collarbone twice in 7 days and she has kept me pretty busy. I was thinking of the Ross Kit but was over ruled and a few blokes thought the balancer material was a bit hard and did not do the job, so an Ati Balancer, never heard of it, lol -
Must be getting excited seeing the finishing touches coming together A shame you have to earn the $s before you can put this type of build together , just hope I live to see it done, thought of getting a 3rd job, lol You must take some vids when you turn the key for the first time, it will be one mad Boat

Car is back in for surgery, some fuel issues are being sorted, . Fuel Rail is fitted, 8374 has been mocked up. They need to make some piping changes. Fuel Pressure Reg is fitted and then plumb up the fuel lines. . The surge tank was getting very hot. The mechanic is on to it and the changes should address this problem. Going to have a Crank trigger kit installed, going with the Kulig trigger kit with the Ati balancer, I think this should have been done with the 3.2 build, but better late than never. Just want it finished off this time and looking forward to having the 8374 in there, have a feeling this turbo change will be the final mod to get the result I want Will be a good driving comparison between the PT6266 Gen 2 and the BW EFR8374 as far as earlier response and transient response goes. Not sure if the Dyno Graphs will tell the story ?? -

Already have the limiter at 7800 with the 6266 . I just feel if you are going early, you do not have to bash it past 6500 , horses for courses . I am busting to see just where it does get Asthma . Probably close to where it is now ? Keep an eye on the road mate, not the speed. But that speed sensor you picked up for me will come in handy and may keep some moving parts out of the donk, lol I think this will suit me just fine -

should be interesting to see the 8374/1.05 on a 3.2 with Vcam handles it -

Yeah Dan, Piggy and sidemick are bringing to car home for me, so I am sure they will give it a spirited run to test if it over heats, also sure the recycle bin will get a working over, lol But I will take it by myself for my first drive, you will now if it is not any better, the silence will be deafening , face washed with tears and quivering lips There are a few fuel and tuning issues that will be sorted and I decided to have a crank trigger installed. Piggaz has taken to wearing UGG Boots and smoking now, he keeps mumbling something about" Miss sheepy" ever since he returned from NZ, ???? -

haha, not the Dyno thread, just looks like it ATM But we were looking at the comparisons between different Turbos and unless everyone can drive the cars to have a chance to feel the difference, Dyno comparisons are the only way I know to do it , I just wanted to try and understand why there are so many variables regarding Dyno Machines. From what I can work out, you would have to keep using the same dyno if you can and maybe the Hub type is better regardless if they read higher and "could" give you a more consistent comparison ? My tune was off and there were a few problems when I dropped the car off but it was recorded. To be fair I will have to use the original tune on the PT6266 against the new tune for the EFR8374 for what it is worth, lol I did learn a little about Dynos, win win -

Gee Dan , my tool has been dictating to me forever Your dyno is the hub type ? Do they read high because there is no tyres to loose traction -

Hi Dan, why do the different Dynos read power on the same car differently? Do they just play with it to look better to bring the customer back ? -

From what I found out the load baring type has an Eddy Brake that sort of mimics driving on the road -
