  1. This also happened when the car went in for the build and I thought we were past that, apparently not ? I had a business for 40 years and never treated the worst paying customer like this, but one of the best ? Maybe I am old school
  2. They have never had to ask me for money, I always offered while the work was being done. I just do not understand why a business would treat good paying customers with disdain . It takes no more than 2 minutes for the office staff to get the information and call or answer an email , the boss does not have to do it and there is no more communication problems, but being ignored, day after day wears your patients out and you do and say shit you would not normally do, like this.
  3. I do not think excited is a word I would use at the moment.. Ah let me think what I would use, yeah I got it , PISSED OFF! I was told the car was on the Dyno all day last Wednesday the 9th, I asked them how it went on Thursday=no reply and emailed every day since, Friday=no reply, Saturday =no reply, Monday= no reply, Tuesday = no reply , Wednesday = no reply, today, I lost it in an email to them but it is not over yet, so ? I have asked a very simple question every day, how did the tune go, was there a problem, if so please let me know = NO REPLY! Just an answer,if there is a problem tell me or even bullshit to me, that would be better than being Stonewalled Now to top it off they think they found the leak on Monday and put a new hose on Tuesday I think, asked if that fixed the problem, guess what , yeah, no reply
  4. Yeah, I think once the question is answered by someone that knows what they are talking about, then it will close itself Is there a Patent Attorney out they in SAU land ???? I reckon it is stupid to think you can still own a procedure that someone else has paid you to do, UNLESS you have made some dumbarse written agreement..
  5. To protect your Patents, Trade Marks and Copy Rights, I thought you also had to have them examined to make sure you are not infringing on someone else's IP and to do this you have to pay for the luxury and it is not cheap, then to keep them there is an annual fee. I find it hard to believe that someone tuning your car can claim it as IP. Who else would want a tune done for your car and if you were going to another tuner, he would probably think his tuning skills are better anyway. IP protection is very expensive, so???? Anyway, if you can disregard the tune on your ECU and have another tune installed, who gives a shit
  6. What did your tune cost ? My last 98 pump tune cost $1600, I call that farkin pricey I thought it must have been for a flex tune
  7. So the next tuner can just reset the ECU and start from scratch , I cannot see any problem with that. I thought the ECU was locked and you could not access it to do a new tune, if you can reset it I guess you could have more than one tune in there, but once you change your setup the old tune would be useless anyway ? Read this. pasted it and it makes sense Occasionally tuners ask me if we can lock the tunes in the ECU. I tell them "no", because what happens in 99% of cases is that the customer believes they are buying a programmable ECU, and so if the tuner installs and tunes the ECU and then locks it, I can just predict that I'll get a barrage of requests from people to unlock the ECU so they can "just adjust the thermofan settings" or whatever. If I tell them to go back to the tuner, then the tuner will want to charge them to do this, and it isn't really my vision of building products to help enthusiasts get the most out of their project cars. Some tuners say that they want to do this because if some clown adjusts the tune because they think they can do better, and blows the engine up, then they can load the original map back in and take it back to the tuner and say that their tune is responsible for the engine blowing up. However this isn't a case for locking the tune, this is only a case for providing auditability (to see which, if any, settings had been changed and on which dates - so they can work out whether to honour the claim or not). Other tuners say that they have spent thousands of man-hours generating this perfect tune and only charged the customer 2 hours of dyno time to tidy it up, and they don't want these thousands of man-hours getting into other tuners' hands - but in reality what are they going to see? Fuel and ignition maps that are going to be slightly different for every engine anyway (as we are in the field of modified cars, they are all different)? I think the most you could expect to learn would be a starting point of what kind of ignition timing this engine wants. Maybe some things like idle control settings because they DO take a long time to get perfect for a street car, but to be honest the tuners that ask about this generally do not seem to be the ones that will do this. I have heard the argument made that you need to be able to lock the ECU on an emissions controlled vehicle (in Australia), but there's nothing in the ADRs that requires this, and we all know that you can retune a lot of factory cars and obviously they are compliant with the ADRs. I don't know what the legal situation is with if the tuner MUST unlock the tune if the customer requests it, or if they would only need to do that if they didn't explain to the customer that they would lock the tune - my gut feeling is that the "reasonable man" argument would favour the customer - ie the reasonable customer would assume that if they were paying for a tune, this would not be locked. So in principle as you can tell, I'm against it. The fact that Microtech and Haltech offer it doesn't really affect my opinion. However Motec, which I respect greatly, do offer this locking function, and unlike Haltech, you need to return the Motec ECU to Motec Europe, USA or Australia for them to unlock the ECU and revert it to factory settings. With Haltech any user can do that themselves. If Motec do it then they must have reasons, either that I haven't listed above, or they disagree with my counter arguments to them.
  8. Thanks for the info, so I should get a fair bit of the 36% volume from the extra 1/2" dump and cat , all good Not looking forward to any more DBs on the exhaust, I want it as quiet as I can get it.
  9. No crap, I would be happy with any gains from idle and the dyno numbers would mean shit all to me, well except when piss talking, but I could make that up as needed What Turbo/s do you have now ? I would love a tuner with some communication skills
  10. He is pissed because the bloke wants $500 to unlock the ECU so he can do whatever he wants to do with his car ? I was saying if they lock your ECU and NOT give you the password when you move on to another shop, or in this case buy a car and the bloke wants to rob you to unlock the ECU, it would be good to know your rights. I understood that if I get my ECU unlocked there would be no warranty on my motor build. I said that was OK with me, BUT if the ECU was not accessed by anyone else the original work Warranty stood. It would be hard to prove why your donk went POP and harder to get it fixed under any warranty. I reckon you should be given the password with your work invoice with the shops stipulations listed, then sign it.
  11. Hi Luke, not sure if I can explain myself but ? You were going up 1" at a time, what's that, about + 72% Volume, I am just going 1/2", 36% but only from the Dump and Cat and then using the existing Custom 3 1/2" Exhaust. Is the 3" dump and cat to the exhaust enough to restrict the flow to the tip buy the full 36% or partially ?
  12. sounds great, most of my expectations have not been meet so far, close, so hoping for better result this time or next time
  13. It would be good to have this sorted and an answer for a lot of blokes in this situation. I understand that once someone else plays with their tune the Warranty is Null and Void, but that does not mean they can hold you up and demand $500 or $1 to unlock it, the work was paid for and they do not have a Patent on these tunes.
  14. I had not idea how any of it worked, I was easy meat for the salesman, I had a TT300ZX and put a TT on a 350GT and they were pretty good, so a turbo was a Turbo, what a wanker, LOL But I have to say, I am enjoying the experience, well except dealing with Mod shops, that can be VERY frustrating
  15. Do you really think it will make that much difference, I would rather it to be going hard at 3000rpm ish and do not care if it does not want to go over 70000rpm. So I will wait until I finalize everything and make a decision depending how it goes. It is not far off what I want now
  16. Yeah mate. 400 is more than plenty as a DD. Just trying to get it as early as I can with what mods I have got on the car. A few blokes I email with on SAU think there is more of what I want left in the tune and think those cams can be tweaked a bit more to help, hopefully I will get something from the tuner today, well I guess if I am not happy at the end of all of this a new turbo will get me there, haha I have a lot of left over parts that I can sell to make the changes I want, so I can afford it The only parts I have taken off this car that I have put on are the Poncams B , all the rest were from the build before I bought it
  17. I had no real power goal Daz and went the other way, I tried for throttle response and still trying , LOL ( I bought the wrong car, did not do my homework) it was a spur of the moment buy and I was feed a lot of bullshit from the sales bloke, said, after I run it in, it would tune up at 800HP, I thought, 800HP, FFark!. Since I have been on SAU it has made me feel pretty stupid believing him and not understanding how a 800HP with a big single would have driven on the street , absolute DH and have had that said to me, many times But from what I could work out using the mods I had, I thought it would Dyno at around 420KW on 98 pump. Tuner mentioned that my exhaust was holding the tune back. I think from what a few blokes have said , there is more to get from the tune, as it is ? The build is pretty strong and can handle whatever is needed, $s. Later I will upgrade the fuel line and get a flex tune and would think on E85 it will Dyno @ approx 450KW
  18. Fired off a few emails asking when the tune will be finished and since everything else has been fixed, it is only the FINAL TUNE to be done, should be interesting to see if the 3.5" Dump & Cat can pick up 14KWs to nudge it over 400KW, BUT more importantly, if it feels any different to drive 3 months just fly by when you are having fun
  19. See how this works, if not I will have another go tomorrow
  20. haha, it just shows a pressured leak on the Orange hose for about 4 seconds but I will try on my PC as my the laptop is shit No luck with the PC, never posted a vid on youtube
  21. Justin, you had better edit the last line or they will stop the thread and I think there should be more info about the treatment some shops put on us but without their name LOL. Good on you for having a go at them, I for one never stop if I get shit on and have never lost up to date
