  1. Have a quote on the RB30 3.2Lt + head work and as it is not cheap, so I will try to get some quotes from a few shops , ANY INFO WELCOME. I have asked Rips for a quote on a long 3.2 and 3Lt and maybe sell mine as is, there is only 3000Klms ish on the motor since it was built , I drove the last 300Klms to run it in. My motor has been built for hard work, JE/NITTO forged pistons, H beam connecting rods, Nitto drag gaskets, ARP main & head stud kits and all the stuff that makes it go hard. Any suggestion welcome, except , don't do it
  2. Hi, thanks for the advice but I live in the bush and no chance to have a drive of different R set-ups , if I had a brain, I should have stayed in Sydney for a few days before I bought the car and looked around:( I have spoken to blokes with the stroker setup I am after and they, except for one where more than happy.but even the one said it was a good ride. I have had a quote and think I should get some more. I have asked Rob at Rips for a quote on a 3.2 and 3L long motor and sell mine as it has been built to take hard work.
  3. HI Ben, are you talking to me? I have no problem with help and that is why I am here, had some great help and some from you. From what you said, once you change any RB26 motor parts you are no longer allowed to be on this thread, I would suggest that most blokes reading this will have to close their eyes and pretend they did not read that. Scotty said to start my own thread as I am no longer in the RB26 club as I am having a RB30 shoved in the RB26 space and should start a Skyline thread, shit probably a good idea except I do not know enough and will admit it.So my R34GTR is no longer a RB26, maybe right, but I could not find help on other threads. Ben , I have had so much help it is not funny, most on PM, if I get stirred because of my lack of knowledge, no problem and all in fun for me, it is hard not to have a go back tongue in cheek as that is all the ammo I have , shit it is just a car and I want to make it into something I want to drive, someone wants to keep it in their garage 45 weeks a year, fn good for them, I want to drive mine as much as I can, I am the winner, do not have to do 10sec, but to get to woollies under 9, come on, lovum but just a car
  4. Thanks Mick, But is it OK in city driving? Going slow mine starts just under 3k now and you can hear the turbo start working, at 3.5 ish I can push down and off it goes, gotta luvit:) I am using all of the helpful info and asking the questions to the builders, they responds to the questions. So have it all in black and white so there in no misunderstandings what I want my car to do . I would like to thank you blokes as I have been on a tight/expensive learning curve and I think there is plenty to come I am having a ball I want to be able to drive on the freeway at steady 110kph without the turbo helping., can you do this Cheers Pete
  5. Now that would be fun to drive, what they can do with small motors is unbelievable. Enjoyed the video
  6. Never seen a white one, I think I would like my R34 to be a lighter colour as it gets hot very quickly in the sun, as do most cars but black is the worst I have owed , black yuk but looks so great cleaned, trouble is they even get dirty in the garage so I made a cover so I can easily put it on and off, photo , works a treat. Both fun cars to drive, it will be interesting to see how my new work goes on the R34GTR
  7. I know but the car will be with my mechanic and someone will have to do the work if I get something from NZ. My bloke might also find someone to buy the leftovers? I do not want to chart it around. I am still not sure what happens, is it a full motor or just the same parts my mechanic will order???? It will be interesting to get a quote and find out exactly what I would get
  8. I have just emailed him to see what he has to offer. I do not understand, I buy a complete motor from them or the same as I am going to get here, what do I do with it when I get it? What do I do with my motor. Sure sounds messy to me , I do not live in Sydney I live in the bush. Guess I will wait until I get a response from Rob Here, I drop the car off and go back when it is finished, and then pay, all to easy Anything goes wrong with it they are in Sydney not NZ
  9. I am going to see what they say about the height issue, maybe they have a method that works for them as they would have fitted them before. They usually tell me if what I want causes a problem , so I will wait to hear back from them. Apart from the height issue, what you have said makes me want it even more I could slow your car down and get it into the 13s, I would drive it I will stop being a PITA for the rest of the night well try ? Serious thanks
  10. Mmmmmm, food for thought, you have given me a few questions to ask the shop. The bonnet problems worries me more than anything as I built a system under it to be able to drive in the rain without the water going all over the motor through the vents. Once you went to the trouble and had RB30 block installed , why turf it once the hard work was done? Sounds like plenty of grunt to do whatever you wanted. What is a PITA ? Is the Nitto RB30 block badly engineered??? This is the sort of info I was after, thanks
  11. Thanks Mick You used the RB30 Block, did you have the 3.2Lt stroker kit. What was it you did not like about the torque , did you loose top end power?. I thought you would also get some top end power from it? What do you do with your car, track/drag ?? Trouble is I have this in my head now as I made my mind up to do it, so the RB30 block and Nitto 3.2Lt Stroker is going in, I am sure what I want from the work but when I get it I might have to live with it The plan is if the car drives the way I want it I will sell the 350GT. Cheers
  12. haha , no mate, getting the motor to NZ is the hard basket and the time it will take. I live in the bush not Sydney and most things are a pain when you want work done on your car here, there in no one to do it. I can get a service and that is about it
  13. Thanks , I heard they are very good but in the too hard basket for me , NZ. I find CRD easy to get along with and always do what they say and I just drop the car off and pick it up , too easy
  14. No probs , I have done it,haha maybe too many times, I did it again today I do search for threads but some of them are so old and with new tech and products I did not use them but I see that you can and someone will join in and the thread gets going again
  15. Silly me, I am not comparing engines that would be plain silly I am trying to get the best out my engine for how I want it to drive . I might not know the correct words to use on this forum and it is obvious I know nothing and do not pretend to be the super mechanic, I just want help and if that's all you have to offer PO! Most of you blokes keep changing mods on your cars and that what it is all about, getting what you want from your car, that is what I am trying to do and loving the ride:)
  16. I bought the right car, just with the wrong mods being added for what I wanted from it , so I will keep trying and I have a feeling it will be as good as most DDs with the stroker job done or at least it will satisfy my needs The car is good to drive now but I guess like the rest of you blokes I want MY car to do what I want it to and I will get that one way or another Thanks Paul, I am sure it will be mad once I finish with it
  17. I am sure there must be some reason my thoughts are off track but 2.6Lt motor gets an extra 0.6Lts that gives you about 22% more on the original 2.6Lt motor, then the 3.2Lt stroker kit must do better than tweaking a few mods to get the response down low that I want, got me stuffed If you have 22% extra power does that take the 345.4KW to 421kws or doesn't it work that way
  18. LOVE the car , I have the same cars as you, the 350GT Skyline added Twin Turbos and now a Black R34GTR and about to put the RB30 Block and Nitto 3.2Lt stroker kit in, should be a fun car. Add the Advan RS-D machine/gloss black rims and all done.
  19. I will ask again tomorrow when I drop the car off.
  20. If I understood the Tuner her said that gaining response will loose power ?
  21. sort of figured that, but hoping It will be interesting to see how it all goes. Do you know if the car is tuned for response does that limit the top end power. I changed , turbo, cams , tomorrow exhaust and needed a new fuel pump. the tuner was trying to get what I asked for, response. Would a newer model Haltech R34GTR ECU contribute anything to the tune and the results you are after
  22. sent the Apexi to Sydney , the tune was reloaded and sent back to me, put it back in the car and away it went, got me stuffed?? Anyway off to Sydney tomorrow to have the Haltech installed, also a Walbro 460Lph fuel pump and a custom exhaust as mine is very restrictive ,looking forward to see the difference in performance and sound . I wonder if they can load the new tune from the Haltech into my Apexi , I would have a back up but I guess this cannot be done as they are different brands ???
