Help With Stiff Clutch Needed

Hi John , very interesting info. Unfortunately a lot of it goes over my head but getting a little more knowledge the longer I am reading the helpful posts. I have an OS Giken Quad clutch on a R34 GTR that is virtually on /off and even though I have gotten used of it for a DD , if I am on a steep hill and taking off I have to concentrate or I can still stall it , can this type of clutch be tricked a bit. The car is going into the workshop soon to change the T78 Turbo to a PT6262 and while it is there maybe I can ask them about this and see what they can do with the clutch -

Thanks,I did read the other suggestions and I will see if I can get something done. I will go for a permanent fix. But I think if there are vents on a bonnet and your car is a daily , regardless of the make quality or adding channels or whatever, water will get onto your motor area and then everywhere else, water coming anywhere under your bonnet & wind = water all over the inside your engine bay. It does not mean it has to be pissing in to cause long term problems, just a continuous exposure to water will do it. That is why I do not drink the crap . If I do not want any water in the engine bay then I have to seal them off totally or as suggested , get a standard bonnet. Since I do like the look and use it as a daily, sealing them off is my choice

Help With Stiff Clutch Needed

To Add to that , before I picked the car up I was reading a lot of different Forums about these type of clutches. Blokes saying, no good for a street car "do not buy them", "change them for something else", dangerous on wet roads.hard on your leg, on and on , with the exceptions of course. I have to say all of this info put some negative thoughts in my head and did not help on the way home from buying the car. I am a 71 year old short arse and if I can do it, anyone can If anything' I am starting to really enjoy this type of clutch the more I use it and it gets smoother every day. Love that feeling when you change down around a corner and it feels like nothing has changed and you just power on -
Help With Stiff Clutch Needed

Been driving an Auto for 7 years , I recently bought a R34 with a OS Giken Quad plate clutch, and had to drive it home from Sydney with bumper to bumper, stop starts to the freeway, ton of fun for the first drive:) and the clutch seemed exactly how you describe yours , on/off with VERY little play. Just keep driving it and it should get easier and after a week or so you will not notice it, muscle memory kicks and all good. Well unless there really is a problem with the clutch , but if it does not sound bad , slip etc, just drive it as much as you can and concentrate on when the clutch kicks in, even when I change gears , up or down I do not just drop it, that 1/2 inch can be eased in -
Mmmmmm , I have the same delema, I bought the car with the Z-Tune bonnet on, so do I get rid of the Z-Tune bonnet, it is at least a 6 year old model ( if it is an original) and buy the new one with the water channels at big $ or have the vents blocked off permanently somehow. But from what I can see of the new channeled Z/R bonnets the water will still run down inside the motor, maybe not over the motor, what about the electrics ect??? I want to be able to drive the car without looking out the window for rain or getting a long term weather report if I want to go away for a week or so. I do not or intend to drive the car that hard it needs this type of bonnet to cool the engine to save a second or 2, but they look good Does anyone know of another solution to this problem without being a Smart A and saying "get a standard bonnet."If this is your only reply, dont bother!!

This was the info I got back? Too late for the Poncams B, BUT that is life The engines are designed with a certain power band range when we design and build them . The power band of the PTE6266B CEA SP is perfect for the engines power band range of 4500 pm to 85000rpm ( std engine rpm range is 4000 to 8000 rpm ). There is a turbo that is one size down from the 6266 and that is the PTE6262B CEA SP. This will give you a similar power band range as the original engine ( 4000 to 8000 rpm ). Keep in mind that the exhaust manifold will need to be modified to suit either new turbo set up.

Very surprising how many young kids like the R3s -
I never saw the post. I will have a look if I can find it Not that interested in the Dyno readings, I want to feel it on the road, No lag and responsive as possible from the start. Until you drive the car for a while it is hard to know what you want, I know now. Been talking to Joey and he said that MAYBE the PT6266 could still be a bit big for what I want , quicker spool, mid range power that can still use the T78 components, anything come to mind? I will keep looking and hoping for members to point me in the right direction. I am hoping to find what I want soon as I want to get the job done during the Easter School hols as I will have to take my kids with me to Sydney for a week while it is being done. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction and to get me thinking with the top head
