Do they have to be replaced/cleaned? every now and then.

Im just wondering what the black canister thing is in the front passenger side of your engine bay and what it does, its something to do with fuel is all i know. Thanks Stu
-
How do u pull out your front uni, theres four bolts toward the front of the car which will detach the front end. Does the back end simply pull out, if it does is there going to be any oil/fluid come out or is it like a dry spline.

Im in a fixing mood and ive decided to fix or try and find out what that rattle is in my seat belt height adjuster somewhere in there. Its been there for about 3 years and appeared about a month after i bought the car. I know its slack but it doesnt really worry me but seeing as though im in this mood ive got to fix it. How do you remove the panel that the height adjuster sits in, its one peice that goes down the centre pillar, the front pillar and finishes about half way above the rear passenger door, My first bet is that you have to remove the jesus bars but how do you remove the seat belt guide and everything else. Thanks Stu Theres a pic below if anyone is unsure what i mean

How do you reset the ecu?

All sorted mate just pluged it it and away it worked, also found that other 3 pin plug under the dash and pluged that in to. it had the purple wire going to the hand brake. I cant believe that the dickheads that pulled it out were going to charge my $100 to re-install it. It was like a 5 min job. And yes my alarm has a turbo timer function in it. Im taking my car into a alarm joint today to try and get it sorted out. Stu

HKS do a Hi-Power silent exhaust that are reasonably quite due to there being an extra muffler They have them at nengun.com heres the link http://www.nengun.com/hks/high-power-exhaust-silent They can normally have the items to your door in under 2 weeks Stu

Isnt there supposed to be a wire that goes to your handbrake? cause when i had it installed as soon as the handbrake was depressed the cut would turn off. Or is that in the harness? I guess ill just plug it in and wire those to ground earth wires and see how i go.
-
Thanks josh Id say you are right about the black wires being earth/ground wires cause they are the only wires black wires coming out of the unit itself and at the first plug junction it goes from one black wire on the unit side to 2 black wires. And everything electrical has to have earth. I had a funny feeling that was an ignition harness but had no idea where it went, thanks Im still not sure about a few other wires though, on the harness theres a white wire with a plug on the end of it. Ive put a yellow circle around it in the pic so you know which one im talking about. Also in the harness there is two wires that have been spliced into the red wire shown in pic with orange circle and there one wire spliced into the blue wire shown with the blue circle. Theres also a plug that comes out of the unit shown in the red circle which has 3 wires of white, orange, and a pinky/purple colour. Thanks Stuart

Thanks but mine is a different model, its the old FATT model i think
-
Yeah mine does to i think, theres a bit of a story behind all this crap. I got an alarm fitted to my car that was supposed to have a turbo timer function built into the alarm so when i got it fitted i asked the auto elec to pull out the turbo timer. Well the alarm turbo timer has never worked and the alarm has turned out to be a big dud with lots of issues. Anyway when he pulled it out i dont now what hes done with the wiring, wether hes just cut it out or unlugged it. Ive no idea where the wires go and i dont want to take it back to him cause i found out when i pulled the dash apart today that the alarm was dodjily installed which is probably the reason why it doesnt work the way it should.

Replaced my plugs with coppers today, the miss on idle has gotten worse but it seems to be smoother on and off throttle especially noticable whilst going down hill. Am going to replace o2 sensor in a couple of weeks, i havent ever replaced it and its done 160,000km now. This miss has got to be sorted out, its starting to shit me. The last time it was this bad was about two years ago and i tracked it down to the hose that crosses over the rocker covers at the front having a split in it. Maybe it is a hose. When u sit there with your foot resting on the throttle giving it a flat constant rev at one rpm anywhere in the rev range its got a miss but you dont feel it when your driving.

Ive got a bosch fuel pump left over from my last project not sure if its an 044 or an 040. The 040 is an in tank pump and the 044 is an inline pump. Which one will fit in my series 2 C34 stagea? Im assuming the 040 cause its an intank but what if its an 044, can it still be used?

Thanks duncan, we really do appreciated it. just wondering what format the copy is in, i mean is it able to copy and paste the words. The reason im asking is that some pdf formats you cant copy and paste the words because the item is originally scanned from a document not copied from and original copy. I know a few japanese dudes that may be willing to translate it. Can i have the hole copy Please. Thanks Stu

Yeah ive read that but i thought there might of been an additional filter but yes it is a sensor and your cabin temp sensor is on the dash, its that black round thing on the passenger side below the windscreen.
-
I was reading my owners manual and it says theres this thing i dont understand, page 60 reads Using the Air conditioner section Clean Filter (Dealer option) The air conditioner has a cleaning filter which collects dust and pollen ect. Refer to the label inside the glove box and read the cautions. To attach/replace the clean filter contact the nearest nissan dealer (replace the filter every 2 years or 24,000km) It has a picture which shows a vent type thing which sits below the rear window demister. Its got like 4 vents. So me being curious i decided to pull my dash apart in search of this filter so i can replace it. Behind that vent is this thing below, it doesnt look anything like a filter but more like a sensor. It has a plug attached Anyone know what it is and where my filter is if im supposed to have one. Sorry about the dodjy photo my camera doesnt take real good close ups Stu

Id love to find out what oil my old mechanic used, its been in there for 90,000km. I know its well past its change over date but it hasnt given me any troubles.

+1 for luxury and performance vehicles, thats where i bought mine. Frank is pretty good, he helped me out about 6months after i bought mine as the shocks where really bouncy and he replaced them with a good second hand set free of charge. I also got a 3 year warranty from him when i bought mine through 24/7 road services and they cover lots and lots of parts That include most of the engine, transmission, differential, cooling system, braking system, electrical system, steering system, fuel system, clutch system, air conditioner, cv joints and universals, turbocharger, engine computer (ECU), Abs system, Electronic ignition components, cyclinder heads, radiator, power window motors. As for servicing they do require you to get yor car serviced by a mechanic and the warranty book stamped and tab sent in to them every 10,000km. I just serviced mine in between on the 5000k service. Theres a list of things they cover in those areas and they cover them for a certain amount depending on what level of policy you chose. Of course they dont cover any wear and tear items but its there incase anything goes wrong. For instance i claimed a set of coil packs and they covered the cost of replacing them with split fire coil packs. Anyway just thought id let you know, he will look after you Stu O and dont buy a legnum. Stagea's are a better option, plus legnums are really hard to get parts for and you will find there parts are alot dearer as they arent as common.

Thank you very much mate, i do aprecitate it at least someone knows what they are talking about and doesnt mind helping out. All seems a piece of cake. Only one thing, what oil should i run in the gearbox? Thanks again Stu
