  1. Very nice mate, congrats. Out of interest, how well would the DCT gearbox cope with the added torque from the supercharger kit? I also personally prefer the E46 M3 shape, but the E92 is of course more modern and that V8 woofle is hard to say no to. Kudos for going with the less predictable route (based on what you owned beforehand) and took into account how you're most likely to drive the car in most situations. The FR chassis could be arguably as much fun as the R35 on a track anyway, just in a different (powerslidey) way
  2. Dave's car looks great in that first shot - love the contrast between the blue and the red. And Terry's rear end looks so angry! Especially with the crazy wing
  3. Good value for what you get, and towing capability. The Large car segment is a dying market anyway, as people downsize or move to "soft roaders"
  4. The horn on the GTR is very poor, almost apologetic... I've tossed up the idea of getting one of those aftermarket ones for a while now. The Clio has a great horn, as do a lot of Euro cars, have thought about checking out a wrecker for a second hand one, but those stebel ones seem pretty cheap...
  5. You did a good job catching up to us after leaving Berry - saw you crossing the street as we were leaving Great pics Woodsy, love the commentary too Missed that mock up V8. Would've given Terry's car a run for its money in a rear wing showdown...
  6. Yeah you got this up fast! Haven't done this road yet so looking forward to it
  7. Dodgy in car shots are courtesy of iphone; but used the SLR at the pie shop. Once again it was a great day out
  8. Thanks for organising Matt, had mad fun and it was great to catch up with quite a few of you guys as well as meet some new faces. Terry and I also had a nice "mini cruise" with Sean, Woodsy, Owen and Patrick on the way back up North. I've taken a few pics which I'll also upload later.
  9. R35s still have a lot of presence don't they. 206 Numeral-only plate - my guess is it doesn't mean anything; the numeral-only plates are quite valuable, the fewer the digits the better. Often used as a status symbol and/or investment but values seem to be very speculative.
  10. The Maloo actually weighs as much as a Clubsport, which is about 1775kg - quite a lot. You're right about the R34 GTR being about 1560kg. I agree, completely different cars, but I guess he just wants a nice fast toy around $50K. The answer is always the same though; drive them both and pick whichever you prefer. I agree with Birds as well; Aussie Ford/FPV/Holden/HSV products are considerably better than most people give them credit for.
  11. Deano - your car looks amazing mate. What colour is it? The Blue VS2 is looking the business now - with a good photog and the proper ride height Looks like a cool location too
  12. Very nice mate, looks very neat and tidy. Congrats on soon-to-be fatherhood. I don't think these rims look too bad; but if you're planning on replacing them anyway, you could fork out a little extra and get some nice JDM rims instead of stock rims?
  13. Just for archiving purposes of this thread (I think we've given a good answer in Rydeit's other thread) there should be a collar that you twist on the indicator stalk. And rear fogs should only work when *at least* the dipped beam (main headlights) are on (this includes high beam but is not exclusive to high beam). Front fogs should only work when at least the parking lights are on - this setup can differ by car but I believe that's the general setup and has worked on all of our cars in the past - Nissans, BMWs, Alfas, Renaults, etc.
  14. Haha alright mate point taken.
  15. Crumple zone did its job then. Glad you and passenger came out alright.
  16. Hey mate, good luck with the Fasting. Sorry don't know anyone in Adelaide but check out the South Australia section. The SA SAU guys are very helpful
  17. That seems like the most likely scenario. Also no A-LSD light is not conclusive for Vspec identification as the cluster could've been replaced. Best is to wait for the FAST results.
  18. I believe the rear fog light switch should be a "collar" twist that is on the indicator stalk, just inboard of the headlight switch. At least that's where it is on the R34, maybe someone else can confirm. When you select reverse (engine off, ignition on) do both reverse lights light up? On the S3 the RHS one is the fog light and you should be able to see the red bulb through the clear plastic; it's quite noticeable
  19. Bugger. Obviously it aint good that you were sold something that didn't match the description (whether the PO did it unwittingly or knowingly). But TBH I don't think you'll even notice the difference unless you're on a track and maybe not even then. My BCNR33 was a non-V-spec. Maybe others have different experiences, but I had different suspension in there anyway, so the diff (and the ABS as SKYLINE mentioned) were the only differences and they made 0 difference to me. The rear diff is still an LSD, it's just a mechanical one, not active. Hopefully the rest of your purchase is up to par - I'm sure you're planning on getting it checked out at a good workshop that knows GTRs ASAP? Did you buy it private or from a dealer? If from a dealer you might be able to do something about it.
  20. Hey Joe, also, unfortunately, the front splitter (black part below the bumper) looks like a Series 1 or 2 (like mine was). The Series 3 has a deeper front splitter with larger brake cooling ducts. As above I think the N1 ducts were an option from 1995 (I have a Japanese brochure which shows them as part of the accessories I think) but every S3 I've seen has them. Does your car have red trim (fleck) inside, or blue? Blue = S1 / 2, Red = S3.
  21. Looks like a pretty nice, proper Series III. Can you inspect, get the VIN and then get it FASTed here?
  22. Hey Joe, Main exterior differences are slightly lower ride height (~10mm) assuming you're comparing stock vs. stock; bootlid badge, finned rear differential on V-spec. Main interior difference would be the "A-LSD" warning light on the tachometer. Mechanical differences were a computer controlled active rear diff (as part of ATTESA-ETS Pro) and lower, slightly stiffer suspension. I think it equated to something like .7 of a second around Tsukuba and .3 of a second 0-400m according to Best Motoring (can't remember exactly) - not much difference. If you do a search you'll find more info.
