Thanks Birds , it's true, forcing your way through it will probably just worsen the damage and lengthen the recovery time even more. He's actually a PT himself so he should be able to come up with some good alternatives for himself, but I thought I'd ask around and get him some ideas anyway - and I got some Speaking to him today it sounds like an xray showed two bones in the wrist that are supposed to be kept together by a ligament (like a rubber band) are split apart and that's what's causing the pain. I think surgery is looking likely... My wrists often piss me off and I find they're a weak point when I'm lifting dumbells and they'll sometimes give me a bit of a 'click' or I'll get a bit of pain but it's only momentary. Even so I'm wary of stuffing them up when doing a heavy session I know what you mean with the narrow grip exercises; upright rows or narrow push-ups / smith machine bench presses can set off those wrists.

Thanks fellas. Hand straps are a good idea, I've got some I can lend him. From what he's told me, pushing action (like a dumbell bench press) is sort of okay up until the point where the weights reach near the top and the wrist(s) have to bend. Even the pulling action (as in working the back) can put a strain on it. Obviously the safe option would just be to lay off it completely but as we all know that's pretty hard when the longest break you've had away from the gym is about 2 weeks, for the past 10 years-plus. On a separate note, I guess there are a couple of good things about the cold weather, 1) time to start bulking again 2) GTR feels punchier with the cold air

They are stunning cars aren't they - still one of the best looking cars made, IMO. And hand-built, unlike the newer ones. My boss's car is the slate blue colour but your dad's one looks the goods in that green Love that V12!

Well written Nick, and DOOF I'm with you mate, can't think of what it's like to be their mothers this weekend. My condolences to the friends and family and hope they are getting lots of love and support at this time.

Nice collection of info here boys Got a bit of a predicament for you guys to mull over; training mate of mine has done his wrist (old injury recurring). Hasn't managed to be able to put pressure / significant weight on it for more than a month now. Getting x-rays and stuff, but can anyone suggest some exercises for circumventing the wrist and still getting a good workout, back and chest. For example I think the pec deck is one possible solution for the chest. Any other ideas?

Hey Owens, if you do a quick search you will find lots of stuff on the subject of fuel brands and tuning; plenty of good info Duncan, I've found the receipt from last Thursday night's fill up, so I'll be hanging onto that in anticipation for next Monday. I'm a bit worried though that by next Monday it will have been 1 1/2 weeks since filling up though; might not help my chances when confronting the servo if it's their fault.

Nice write-up Steveo. You've had some pretty enviable experiences by the looks of it. For some reason a GT3 is one of the only Porsches I'd be truly excited about driving, from an outsider's POV. Who let you drive their RR Phantom?!

Thanks mate I've bookmarked this thread. They say you shouldn't fill up when the tanker is at the servo filling up the bowsers as the sediment gets all stirred up. Problem is you never know when you pull into an empty servo forecourt if a tanker has just left 60 sec ago. Can't believe they put the wrong fuel in the wrong bowser though if that's the case. Imagine if it was diesel...

Importing A R33 Gtr
God_speed replied to Ninjabread Man's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Congrats mate. Some great roads in NZ to test it out on As Grant said get a 100K service done and make sure the cooland and brake fluid are changed too. The coolant had gone bad on two of the GTRs we've bought that were imported straight from Japan. Mine's done 105,000km now (bought it in Oct 05 with 45,000) and it's still tight as a drum, but being mostly stock it's a fairly un-stressed motor. -
Interested to read the outcome of this Duncan as I've just started experiencing problems with the GTR after filling up with a full tank of BP ultimate. Used a servo location I have used plenty of times before with no problem. I've got the car booked in with the workshop next Monday to sort it out; they say I'm looking at a few hundred $ just to put it on the dyno to start investigating / diagnosing...

Was it a bit like this Mark? Reminds me a bit of the 1965 Buick Riviera, which I think is an awesome design: http://imcdb.org/vehicle_156657-Buick-Rivi...49447-1965.html

"...when Michael tried to use this year's [boat] ticket to get home he found his travel was disappointingly slow. Curiously, however, fellow driver Nico Rosberg used a very similar ticket and is reported to have had 'no problems' using it to get home." I love Sniffpetrol!

Cheers Zennon. The tripod's pretty obvious hey I'll usually leave it on 100 by default but for some reason had jacked it up about a week earlier and didn't put it back. Haven't quite got it down as a routine yet to check it before starting a shoot. I do use a remote to set the shutter off though. I've also been looking at possibly buying a newer Nikon with a larger screen, cos even though the D70 does everything I need it to, I find the small LCD is a massive hindrance to checking for focus, noise, etc before going back to the laptop.
-
Thanks a lot for the feedback mate - noted... It was a bit rushed. The other thing was I had the ISO setting up around 640+ on my D70 and there tends to be a fair bit of noise added up towards the higher ISOs, which I hate.

Makes sense for the low beam to stay on when turning on high beam if you've got xenons... it's not good for the xenon bulb to be turned on and off quickly. But otherwise agree if they're just standard halogens the low beam is made redundant I'll check out the DIY section; I've wanted to have this done since buying series 3 headlights aftermarket.

Hey Nick, The first one was taken in my driveway Over 110sec exposure, several handheld flash points around the car. The others were taken outside a new building in North Sydney called 'the Ark' on the corner of William and Mount st, just off the Pacific Hwy.

Sorry for the late replies... Thanks Basti. Here are a few more pics. Got the nuts off ebay for $210 + shipping; I think most import retailers will be selling them for around $240. Which works out to about $12 per nut... not cheap That would still look awesome! Thanks Erick. The RE30s also have fairly small apertures for the nuts (as you can probably see above). I need to carry around a socket + wrench that will fit the nuts as a regular wheel wrench / brace will not fit. This socket is a 3/4" imperial size. The nut dimension should actually be 19mm I believe, but because there is excess slack, it can cause markings on the nuts (not supposed to impact the strength of the nut but it looks a bit ugly). Hence a 3/4" is 19.05mm and is a slightly more snug fit. I carry a torque wrench around in the car as well, as the nuts should be torqued to between 88 and 118Nm (shown on the back of the packet). Matt

Nice one mate. Guys, I'm kind of new to this Photography section... Here are some shots I took of my GTR the last two nights. Let me know what you think? Appreciate any feedback!
